Great tips stella as always! I also try to pack in a carry on only if my trip is short to avoid losing luggage or checking in, especially if I may end up late. I also like to pack valuable or must needed items in my carry on and not in my check in luggage in case its lost. After check in I like to buy my own food, snacks and a magazine or two to bring on the plane to make sure I eat well, airplaine food isn't the best at all, lol. ONe last one, I keep my I.D., boarding pass, money in an accessible part of my purse (usually a crossbody) so I can get to it and not lose it.

    11. If you see a gate showing your destination, DON'T take it for granted that it is also your flight. Sometimes there may be three or four departures within half an hour, all by different companies. Check your boarding card to see what flightnumber goes with your ticket. If you are at the wrong gate, you might not hear your flight calling you for departure, and you will miss the flight. You will probably not be permitted to board through the gate you are waiting at. And you will be very angry. 11 b. And, as Debra Adams says in the comments, check your gate several times. Sometimes they will change the gates, without even calling it out.

You can eat at the airport. Just bring your own food. It's allowed to bring that true security, but remember to not bring any liquids including creams and jams (like those jars with jam and also peanut butter, etc.) or similar above 100ml. That is really good because you can eat it when you are hungry and don't need to bring food. This is especially handy if you have a long flight or long time in between flights.

Personally I don’t like bringing food to the airport unless it’s a trail mix or a granola bar. If I get something hot from a restaurant and leave it in my purse it will get cold by the time I get through security and find my gate. It’s all a suggestion.

Hi Stella! I am a gate agent for the same airline as you. I like your tips but just want to add Don’t be late (I agree with you). Passengers who get to the gate too late for their flight have to go STANDBY on the next flight to their destination (sometimes standby on connecting flights! 🥺 If they want to be confirmed, it does have a charge, but flights are usually full as you well know. Be aware that TSA lines can sometimes take hourS. It is much better to be inside security early and waiting a while than to be stressing about missing your flight. Please consider checking your carry-on bag at the gate for free when the offer is made. If you already have a paid-for bag checked, your carry-on will also go to baggage claim, but without more charges. Once we run out of overhead bin space, we have to check all rolling bags and large duffel bags. Period. This almost always means group 9. Gate agents love people who check their bags voluntarily. Do not stuff your carry-on too full. If it fails to EASILY fit into the sizer frame, it MUST be checked. I have seen multiple flights delayed due to BROKEN BINS where people tried to force their carry-on into the bin then tried to force the bin closed. Opt in for notifications on your phone about your flight. Our airline now texts passengers when BOARDING BEGINS!! Yes! And this one tip will save many people a lot of stress trying to find connecting gate info: on any smart phone’s browser, type in the airline code and the flight number to see the departure terminal and gate, arrival terminal and gate (up to the MINUTE!). This also gives you any delay information. Hope to see you coming thru CLT sometime! Safe travels! ✈️ Diane

6:44 A note on boarding times: the time of your flight is the time the plane takes off into the air and departs the airport. That is the DEPARTURE time. On your boarding pass it will tell you that your flight will be boarding (for example) 30 minutes before the departure. So if your flight departs at 9:45pm then the boarding time is 9:15pm. The boarding time is the time used for the “boarding process” aka when people physically board the plane with their carry ons using their boarding passes at the gate. Please do not confuse boarding time with DEPARTURE time if you are planning to use her tip to set an alarm for BOARDING time. A lot of people I know who don’t fly often love to use tip #1 to the get to the airport super early but then they walk around, eat, or just lose track of time. All they think about is the departure time and forget completely about the boarding process. Then they have to run to their gate trying not to miss their flight before the plane doors close and the plane flies away without them. If you’re a first time flyer or someone who’s flying for the first time by yourself then please remember this. The time on your ticket is when the plane flies away. You have to remember to give yourself time to line up at the gate, board the plane, settle into your seat on the plane -All before the plane ever departs. Lastly, this is also important because before you board: the gate might change. You have to keep up to date with wherever they need you to go so give yourself time to accommodate any last minute changes.

11 HATE IT! I was in CDG in Business Lounge and decided to take a short nap. Put my alarm 20 minutes prior to Gaye closing. Gate has changed, and I didn't realize it immediately. I had to rush through the haul terminal 2F in order not to miss the flight. Now they have a new lounge in a better spot.

Great tips. Just one more, double check to be sure you have all your belongings when you leave security. You don't want to discover your left your laptop or phone on the checkpoint after getting to the gate. I worked at a large international airport for over fourteen years, and you would be amazed at what gets turned into lost and found.

The lounge tip is a really great one. I used to think they were a luxury that I could easily do without. Now I'm hooked and can't fly without lounge access. It makes my trip that much more relaxing. And tip #11, get TSA Pre! While all the suckers are standing in the long security lines scrambling to take off their shoes and disrobe, you breeze on by in just a few seconds. Worth its weight in gold.

We always fly when we go on vacation and to see family, etc. These were all very good tips. Nothing drives me crazier than getting behind someone who has never flown before in the security line. Or someone who is just not paying attention at all and then when it's there turn you have to wait 20 minutes for them to get there stuff together. I really liked your tip for carrying an empty water bottle. I had never thought to do that before and its a great tip! Thanks 😊

Great advice about nearby gates. I always do this. It doesn’t even need to be that close to my actual gate. I usually sit near the restaurant where I get food. I never understand why everyone packs into the actual departure gate. I also usually pay for food at the airport even though it is overpriced. I usually budget a lot of money to fly. I try to get my seat cheap and splurge at the airport. It gives me something to do because I’m usually early. I also like to get a beer at the airport if it isn’t too early in the day or sometimes early in the day lol. It relaxes me for the flight.

I am a retired Pilot with PAL and I love your channel. If everyone would follow your information it would make their flights so much earlier, you pay a few extra dollars and worth every cent. Ever since I have retired I I always follow your information. Your an and 74 are my two bibles. Why couldn't I have had? Oh, attendants like you. Keep up the good work now if we can get everyone else to follow them it would make flying so much easier. Oh, one more tip and not to get in front or behind someone so do not believe in bathing damn that can kill your whole day. Again keep up the great work, love your channel. I flew 747-SP, loved them but at 72 it is fly and enjoy.

Hi from Sydney! Love the videos! Discovered you today! You are just full of sunshine! Love the tips!! Especially get there early. What a stress reliever that is! Best tip I have... be nice to the airline employees. Asking how their day has been at check in or on board always seems to make them smile. Also... global entry has saved me hours (probably days) of my life and I only fly 2 or 3 overseas trips a year. Especially flying into LAX. The lines can be crazy for immigration and customs if you arrive at the wrong time. And finally if ever flying from SYD to LAX AA72 is the perfect timing. Usually not crazy at either end at the airports and the service always brilliant!! Happy travels!!

For the curve side check in I have some tips. I used to work that for American. If you know you may have a problem with your reservation (documentation, fees, wrong name spelling, etc..) don't even think about check in there. You have to go to the ticket counter to get it fix. Also, if you are late for check in (45 minutes prior your departure) curve side people won't take your bags. Last thing, please please please, tip the curve side people, most of the time they're vendors employees, meaning that they don't work directly for the airline so they don't get pay the same. They are outside when is cold, hot, windy, snowing, etc, so please, don't forget to tip them.

#1 and #10 go together nicely. If you don't travel frequently you don't need a lounge membership, so spring for the occasional one-time pass (vacation treat!). Since they are available in 3 hour slots (or more) before your departure, its even more incentive to arrive early to check-in. As some of the lounges have showers, an even better incentive to arrive early.

I have a collapsible one that's just for flying. They're not the easiest to find. It's more like a collabpsible flask, where the neck & opening are rigid and the body is a soft plastic. Mine has the body part then covered in a heavy fabric with a pattern on it so I know it's mine. This way, it doesn't take up much room when empty, and holds a decent amount of water.
