@@caseysmith544 as a downhill skater - no we don't want nonabrasive. We need coarser griptape than street setups, because sliding the fat grippy wheels needs a lot of traction between shoe and board. Also we don't drag our shoes across the grip nearly as much as you would doing tricks, making abrasion not much of an issue

I really like my non abrasive grip tape. I feel like its saved me a lot of money on shoes and laces and tricks feel just the same pretty much (keep in mind that I only know like 5). issues I have is it can get dusty and slick depending on where you skate so Ill have to wipe it off every so often and that the texture on it eventually does where off (especially where my foot pivots) but even without the texture the rubber still feels grippy.

For non-abrasive griptape, I can say it works pretty well. I have worn down completely a board and I’m into a new one, both with DKL Griptape and it does work as it says and should. I’m not from the US so I got 4 at a time, it is double the price but it grips and flicks the same, but doesn’t feel similar to regular grip. The true downsides are that you have to use shoes that still have a not worn outsole, and after you apply it, you have to let it sit for some hours so it never tears down.

I have to push back on the electric skateboard entry as a truck driver. When I park my truck @ a truck stop, I'm not limited to just going into the truck stop for food due to having the board to use. Also easy transporting it compare to mounting a motorcycle on the catwalk. You can customize your board to suit not only your ride style but for the environment as well. I have a hybrid set up the fronts being narrow cloud wheels and the backs being thick pneumatics. And I can run belt drive for the city ride and gear drive for the off-roading tracks

It is a niche thing mountain people do in the summer to fix their snowboarding withdrawls.

I think deadbolt made some trucks that used a screw instead of a nut to keep the wheels on. This was to prevent slipping post. Problem was, you had a hollow axel and they broke easier. Also, I had the top of the screw break off which ultimately made the truck useless because I couldn't get the threaded part out to replace the screw.

Some of these products are pretty fun and decent. Maybe this should have been a 5 list or something. 1. Folding Skateboards: Yeah, there's not much point in having one. If you wanna cruise, buy a cruiser board, if you wanna do tricks, just get a normal skateboard. 2. Training Wheels: Yeah, this is a dumb idea. 3. Electric Off-Road Boards: Solve a problem that a lot of Off-Road boards have, not a bad product. Just expensive. 4. Non Abrasive Griptape: I mean if you've never tried it and never got the opinion of someone who has, you can't really say if it's a bad product or not. I've never used one either though. 5. Spark Plates: These are awesome! No one ever uses them though because they're too busy practicing. If you gave them to someone, they'd love it though. 6. Soap Shoes: Don't mention them.. They're not SKATE products. 7. Skateboard Locks: Yeah, these are useless. 8. Hoverboards: This concept is a bit of a reach. 9. Soft Trucks: Yeah, Just use tennis balls. Where's 10?

Non abrasive griptape is very good (at least the DKL griptape). I live in italy and a sheet of griptape usually costs 10 euros so getting a couple of sheets for 10 dollars wasn't a big deal considering that 10$ is cheaper than 10€, the DKL grip lasts very long and doesn't ruin my shoes (that are far more expensive than a new sheet of griptape). Tricks come out very goot and flawlessly after a bit of time to adapt to the new thing (took me about 24h to close a kickflip again but I'm not that good at it). The only complicated thing for me was being able to get it (they didn't offer international shipping) but I was very lucky and I was able to ask a friend to bring it in italy after one of his holydays. It's been more than three years and had to change the first sheet after a couple years

The two I think of are very similar. The first one is the two wheel board with the swivel wheel they had to stop due to lawsuits and the remake with fixed wheels also got lawsuits and had to be stopped until the plans were ripped off by/given to a Chinese company, not sure what that foldable scooter company was thinking in the 2000 to early 2010's. Then the other that a few companies made, Bigfoot brand with the bigfoot shaped board had one model that either was the tail or front truck as did other that used a steerable for downhill boarding that nobody asked for, was more a joke on wide wooden Penny/Cruser boards sized boards and did not work all that well often siting on shelves after the initial fad in 2000's. There was also a style of downhill board that solved a problem, the brand Cruzer? made a board that was standard trucks but used a wheel that was between a downhill and off road. Most people who bought one replaced the wheel bearings as the $30--$45 board and used them on downhill places that a normal downhill board would not work due to how poor the road was and needed this massive of a standard skate wheel the size of a 6 inch or 15 cm wheel. You had to replace the bearings and possibly fix/work in the truck axle so the spacers were not beyond stiff. Also used for cruising on some crappy roads as off road pneumatic wheels often went flat trying to use the same idea on these roads due to easy puncture style wheels that even trick BMX bikes/off road BMX bikes did not get due to how skate people have to hop curbs when they hop them.

Slightly unrelated, but I've always wanted make/see a personal towing device for skateboarding. Basically it would be an RC car with enough torque to pull an adult on a skateboard. Like wake boarding, a line would be connected to the towing device, and ends with a handle to rider holds on to. To operate the tow device, you could have a corded version where the controller for throttle and turning would be built into the handle of the tow rope. Or you could make it wireless and hold the controller in your free hand. Maybe even add a button the can change the length of the tow rope, letting you do super wide turns when you have the room. What's your opinion on this idea comment section?

As a mountain boarder. I want to EV my board. But it is expensive. Ohhh yeah. Falling on a mountain board is sketchy at best. And sonic the hedgehog uses soap shoes.

Every time this guy says,”At first, it seems like a great idea…” I want to teach into my phone, pull him through this tiny little square glass screen, and yell to his face,”No!! None of These Look Like Good Ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Get a backpack to hold your board like a normal, sane person!

I thought this was supposed to me 10 bad skate products not 10 "this is sick but its kind of expensive" products. Plus that last one is for practicing tricks in your house without damaging anything. Tennis balls can still slip on smooth floors when landing.

Non-abrasive grip tape isn’t completely new, just lost (almost) to history. My 1977 Gordon and Smith Fibreflex board came pre-gripped with a rubbery grip tape (that eventually peeled off).

What about copers? Those things sucked bad..never tried NA grip, so dont know the pros and cons, i do remember Rip Grip.. lets see, there was roller trucks (z rollers?) that had a cylinder around the axle to roll grind as opposed to actually grinding.. it sucked..Lib Tech had a titanium board,..it sucked. I think there was a plexy glass board.. im sure it sucked. As far as being a beginner, just tighten yer wheels so your board doesnt move or use a board w no trucks on carpet to get used to the motions of basics but nothing will compare to actually riding your board.. trial by fire, so to speak. Idk, ive seen almost every gimmick and fad that has tried to 'improve' skateboarding, but there is a reason that skate set ups haven't change much.. it already has been perfected. Just my thoughts on this.
