I remember being in the theater and everyone really thinking the film melted. There was an audible grown... Until the gremlins came on and started doing hand puppets. I thought it was brilliant.

I remember my grandmother taking me to see Gremlins 2 in the theater when I was only eleven. She clearly had no idea what she was getting into but was a good sport about it. I think both Gremlins films were and are fantastic movies. Completely changing the theme and essentially the genre for the sequel was a groundbreaking idea. I think both films and their special effects hold up very well 30+ years later. (Dear God, don’t let them do a remake and screw it up with CGI.) It would have been nice to see Hoyt Axton return as the father as I loved his character and actually he always reminded me of my own dad. Great video as always, Minty.

I actually checked this when I saw teh original on the Movie Theatre... And up to its release on DVD... In the Movies there is a slightly longer pause from the Movie Break to the Gremlins appearing... Its only a matter of about 3-5 seconds... But IT WORKED! The Entire Cinema at my viewing thought that the Reel had actually BROKE!!! There were boos and jeers then SUDDENLY we saw these Gremlin shadows appear and all LAUGHED!!!!

Ghostbusters 2 is good for the most part. the biggest issue is the lack if advancing the tech. that was such a big part of the first one. finding out about the proton pack, pkg meter, ecto 1, the trap and even the fire house. it was all so much fun. otherwise the movie is on par on jokes. the slime wasnt even bad but big change being a slime shooting device is something i can make at home. heck its essentially a super soaker.

I watched Gremlins 2 as a kid when it was released at the cinemas, and didn't mind it, but I always liked the first Gremlins movie more between the two. The first Gremlins movie was very well made in the way that it worked as a comedy and horror movie with elements of drama, and the second one was a lot more campy. I loved the Gremlins 1 scenes showing Billy's father's inventions, and tipped my hat to Phoebe Cates for her acting in the first movie in the scene when she tells Billy how her father died after being asked by Billy why she doesn't enjoy Christmas. I had a copy of the Gremlins game on Commodore 64, which was a bit of fun to play, and enjoyed reading the Gremlins book novelized from the first film.

I like to think that when they evolve into Gremlins, they can retain memories from the first batch which could explain why Mohawk has a grudge on Gizmo. G2 is one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. How can you not like a film with appearances by Christopher Lee, Hulk Hogan, Dick Miller, John Glover, Jerry Goldsmith, and even Paul Bartel as the theatre usher!?! And Phoebe Cates with her horrific holiday stories....

As much as I like the first Gremlins, Gremlins 2 really captures what the Gremlins are, at their core, which is chaos incarnate. They're let loose in this nice, clean, corporate building, and they just turn it into one big wonderland of chaos. Even the film itself isn't safe from the chaos of the gremlins, and that's what I've always loved about it. Oh, and John Glover is awesome as Daniel Clamp. One of the most underrated actors today, period.

I remember the Hulkster scene when I watched this movie in the theatre. I thought at first that there was something genuinely wrong in the projection booth when the film started skipping (naturally I was groaning and dreading the worst). But, when the gremlins featured themselves in shadow form, I laughed with not only relief but genuine admiration. It was a great joke, and it played well into the movie. Naturally, I was ecstatic to see the Incredible Hulk Hogan in the movie, and I have enjoyed fourth wall breaks ever since.

The original Gremlins was a bit more darker than the sequel with a bit of humour but the sequel is really out there and wacky but still I love it and hope to see a Gremlins 3 one day and hope it goes to cinema not direct to video. Also the budget of Gremlins 2: The New Batch was $50,000,000, $39,000,000 more than the original.

Remember the commercials scared me a bit when I was a kid, as I was already scared of gremlins 1 a little. My mom took me to see it when it came out for some reason, and I actually liked it and the goofy aspects made anything that could seem scary kinda blur out. There was a lot of marketing to kids and I think the tonal shift was intentional to sell merchandise. I think I still have coloring/activity books packed away somewhere and some novelty toys ect. Then again this happened with many popular movies. Terminator two, add a kid make Arny the hero...Bam! Toy city I also remember a couple years later the blockbuster had gremlins in the horror section, and Gremlins 2 in the comedy section.

Also it was by Sunsoft who took a lot of Blaster Master sprites and ideas and used it in the Gremlins game... because I remember playing the game as a rental... and it looked and felt like Blaster Master because they were made by the same company. Blaster Master was much harder and not only a cult classic (& it's unusual looking last boss...) but has also had a resurgence on the Switch with a remake recently too. The PS1 version wasn't very good... why I didn't mention it.
