Downward Spiral is a hurricane and A Warm Place is the eye. A short period of tranquility before immediately flinging back into chaos.

I've smiled when listening to this, I've cried when listening to this. When feeling like ending my life I've listend to this & it's calmed me. I don't know what a warm place is but this song truly does hit me in an emotional spot. No other piece of music stirs the same reactions from me. It really is a beautiful tune.

This is one of Trent's most emotional songs. Its giving off so many different emotions at once it's hard to keep track of them all. In this way it's a very "worldly" song. It seems to take into account, all the happiness, sadness, anger, fear, love, and hate in the world, along with many other emotions. This is certainly one of Trent's best works.

My mom left her CD collection out one day, and I grabbed 2 albums and listened to them front to back at the age of 7. The downward spiral, and the fragile: left. Those 2 albums changed the way I listen to music to this day. Thanks for the upload, this is still my favorite song!

This song evokes more emotion than any other song for me I've seen it live three times and every time Trent hypnotized the crowd. On the fragile tour and the downward spiral tour the visuals blew me away. This truly takes me back to a really pure time in my life. A warm place. Thank you.

it's so awesome that they played the whole album through, and it's amazing that this song is even on this album. it's the perfect break between the onslaught that has passed and the onslaught to come. classic trent reznor, in the middle of all the raging noise, mechanical sounds, hate and despair, a moment of melodic peace.

It's one thing for a band to make a whole audience scream, but to make them completely silent? That's something else. I remember seeing them in Manchester and you could have heard a pin drop during Hurt.

You are so right - my favourite NIN song - I'm so glad they played it live - even if I wasn't there - I was there in spirit - it is simply beautiful - it fits everything - I love all of NIN's work but this is something else - my favourite piece of music - it's place on the downward spiral also reminds me that even through the darkest times there is always beauty and happiness still existing somewhere within yourself

disagreed, i'd rank it among their best. it's essential to the sequencing of the downward spiral, and it's so beautifully calm. there aren't many nin songs that come close to this one. this moves me more than any of the quieter, more ambient moments on the fragile.

It's a travesty that this is the first time (and only one of two times) that this song had been played live. It's such a great song and I see no reason why it could not have been played live much sooner than this. This song would've been perfect for the Lights in the Sky tour. Imagine the awesome visuals it could've had. BTW, Thank god the douchebags that are talking at the beginning of the video at least quiet down a bit after the first few seconds....

Not trying to inject drama at all. But if this wasn't created using a sample of David Bowie's 'Crystal Japan', then it has to be at least inspired by it. Both are great.. if you haven't heard Crystal Japan check it out! While they sound similar it's really like two different songs.
