10/6/18 ATSF/Santa Fe 108 reborn, a visit to OERM/SCRM Part 2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here is Part 2 of the footage we got during our visit to OERM(Orange Empire)/Southern California Railway Museum in Perris, CA INCLUDING an inside look of the engine and cab of the ATSF FP45 #108 plus some more running/action pulling the main line train, other museum equipment, and more! A huge thanks to the volunteers who have made this event possible as well as for the volunteers who have helped brought ATSF/BNSF 98 back to its original built appearance from EMD in 1967.
Thanks for Watching & hope you enjoy!

I'm in the process of building a LEGO model of ATSF 108, so this footage has been of great help identifing a few things, that I needed to know. Thank you.

Wow, that looks sharp! Good job OERM. The red in particular doesn't even look like paint--it looks like they wrapped the loco in shiny red foil cellophane.

If you hadn’t done so yet, got check out the Illinois Railway Museum's FP45. ATSF #92 was recently restored to operating condition: before that it was only operational via MU operation with another unit.

This is the godfather of cowl units at least in America. If you want to know where it all started this is the locomotive.

What horn has it got? Doesn’t look like the original S5T seeing as it was painted grey or white.

These originally had an S3L. The S5T was added to most units a couple years into their lives as passenger units. After they became freight only, most of them got an S3L or RS3L again.

The horn is a Leslie RSU-3L. It has bells 25 and 31 pointing forward, and the 44 bell pointing rearward. All 3 bells appear to be operating properly. The horn sounds good.

I really want OERM to extend their mainline to Downtown Perris to begin a new shuttle line between the museum and Metrolink The Siemens U2s and Nippon Sharyo P865 are perfect for the job

I am aware of the ATSF FP45 92 at IRM and it is operational, the horn is believed to be a RS2L I heard, and not entirely sure if it is the original prime mover. Could be with some parts of it replaced.-Jon

There is no HEP on 108 itself the combine car has a diesel power plant in it which was used to provide HEP power for the UP lounge car that was in the consist. There are also no plans for HEP to be installed in ATSF 108. To the question on the prime mover in 108, it is the original engine from when we received it after it had been retired from the Santa Fe. The horn on the locomotive is also original to when the museum got it; the horn type is a RSU3L.
