Worth mentioning that while you don't use renew in a fight it's worth using it in between pulls to stack the free holy words from the tier set as long as mana isn't an issue. You can also always stack two before the dungeon starts as they don't seem to have a time limit.

This guide is very useful! I have been playing through all of WoW's history, literally since Christmas of 2004, but I have been largely a collector and achievement hunter and not one to push high end content. Many other things in life have been a priority. I am in a position where I don't have a ton going on this summer, so I figured I would push keys and see if I'm actually capable of that, and because I'm slightly a masochist, I decided to heal. I made a holy priest and have been studying guides like this. This is a very good one!

Hey AutomaticJak, I have one question regarding your healbot. I really like your horizontal bars just below the weakauras. I set the same but I'm struggling with one thing. When I'm alone I have only 1 bar, and I put it in the center. But when I join party and next 4 bars appear they moves to the left or to the right from the centered one. Which means they are not centered anymore. Centered one stays in the same position, and next 4 are displayed next to it. Ideally I would like all 5 to be centered. I don't care if my character bar will change position, I just want them centered no matter if there are 1, 3, 5 or 10 bars.

With stats so wildly different between raid vs M+... is there a happy-medium for crafting gear to use in both while we've still got limited sparks?

I like say your prayers over resonant words for m+ but i never have pom off cd do you think its an option worth considering if youre never missing a pom?

Can sanctify be cast on target direcly? (using healbot for example)

Okay buddy, i'll sub. I'll enjoy your free high quality content. You've forced my hand you villain.

Personally I've been running this same build, with a variant where I drop Cosmic ripple, Trail and the heal talent, then put em in CoH/Healing Chorus/Orison. In AoE heavy dungeons (and some of the S1 dungeons were HEAVY on AoE) it feels way more stable for me. Passive renews bring up healing chorus, then you can Sanc + CoH to proc resonant words on the CoH with healing chorus. It causes CoH to dish out a lot of healing. Basically like having another Sanc, but without needing to stack. Trail of Light is certainly easier to play/less to think about, and it still feels great, but man I feel like damage patterns are so much smoother in RLP with a hyper buffed CoH.

Did I miss it or was the class / left side of the spec tree not mentioned.

You ever think that Blizzard would ever implement drinking while moving so healers won’t get left behind in M+?

Why dont you lean on renew in a dungeon environment when it is needed for the set bonus to get free charges?

what's your advice if someone wants to utilize all specs of the priests... for example im looking to do raids and M+s as both holy and disc and i will also do some pvp as disc (so basically going with a mindset and hoping that at least one spec will be decent for each environment)

Is Lightwell still rubbish? I see a few people take it, I love the spell thematically but don't know how good it is after the "rework" and it's CD reduction.

What add on is being used for the big colored health bars located on the bottom of the screen in the dungeon? Would love to get it.

Damage over time effects

I'm brand new to priest and was wondering if there is a reason nobody mentions Power Word: Shield. Sometimes I don't even see it on peoples action bar, is this because it shouldnt be used and is a waste of a global cooldown or because its bound some other way?

Do you ever just cast "Heal" anymore?

Max I did on my hpriest was 25s so I don't know about beyond that, but I was wondering about your thoughts on just doing Answered Prayers instead of Resonant Words+Pontifex? I didn't really see a need for more consistent healing throughput and I liked the Apotheosis procs for the added flexibility in cooldown reduction as well as more damage from Chastise, but maybe Resonant Words becomes better for those higher keys? Great content as always

AP will give you some temporary buffs that can’t really be controlled while pontifex and resonant words are very consistent output increases that you can always rely upon. Constant output makes it easier to get out of hairy and unpredictable positions

Jak, how often do you find yourself casting Heal? Playing Holy for the first time as a longtime Disc (alt) and pushing in to 14s/15s I don't think I've casted Heal almost ever? Am I doing it wrong?

Smite is filler when HFires are on cd and you don't need to DoT up. You can see in the top left corner all my spell casts when I discuss dealing damage

We can get s3 tier and s1 during the raid cycles, right? Any ideal 4 and 2 set combos to mix and match?

Would not recommend. The serenities the t set give you + boosted flash heal talents are more than enough. Image is lots of extra healing and damage

most frustrating thing in m+ is getting the ranged dps to stack in your sanctify :(

Hey Jak. I was quite a high rated pug only holy priest in M+ season 2 (3200 io). I was purely lightweaver build back then. Im surprised that people have shifted to divine word over lightweaver, considering how mana efficent and high hps the rotation was, especially in longer tyrannical fights. Not to mention the synergy with everlasting light. Do you think some priests will swap to lightweaver on tyrannical weeks?

Nah not really

Just did a M0 Halls of Infusion, Flash Heal didn't cut it. iLevel 470. Had to spec back to CoH and PoH. Couldn't keep people alive on the last 3 bosses and was going OOM on 2-3 trash pulls. Was a long 1.5 hours. Only ever had time to SW:P on trash/bosses. Was not enjoyable. I still can't figure out how Holy Priests can DPS a bunch.

I would like an even dumber dumb down rotation guide. Can anyone just write down the order ? I feel like I go : power of mending , power shield , flash heal and renew , heal , salvation and serenity on cool down. I don’t think I’m using apotheosis and divinity ( not sure if it’s called that) enough. I’m doing ok but have struggled in higher runs. For dps it’s shadow word pain, holy fire and chastise on cool down. Spamming smite in between.

Best healing class in the game. Call me bias bc I’ve played holy for three years

I've been disc priest all the way from the beginning but now I started playing Holy, there's a big difference, it's like I'm forced to switch 2 specs depending how good or poor the group is. Also your output voice at youtube is quite weak compared to other videos, here at youtube. I had to raise my volume settings many in my computer to hear you louder and still not that clear.

1:56 Min.: Where is Renew a cast? Its ista. i personal use my Renew every time i have to move to make somthing if everyonce is fully. i hold its activ at one of our warlocks... He vorget his feets turning off and i like him so i dont wants that he gets blamed for it. And one of the DDs use this Krit flask. its makes him huge dmg. So every time all be toped i look that i gave them a renew and my tanks and persons with not so much hp missing. So to cast renew isnt discroughing in my eyes. Its better then do nothing in this time. And my dps spells dont deals much dmg. there is my the savity of this team mates more importent. In my eyes we holy priests deals paper dmg. To cast smite or dont cast it dont change much about the boss hp bar. Even my dot isnt that stronge. form every healer is the holy priests by far the weakest form the dmg. Every outher heal is a hafe dd. But as a holy its feels wronge to deal dmg... Druid Heal: Basicly Cat Druid too. Scharmane Heal is a hafe Elemental Scharmane. Pala and Monk dmg is so or so BUSTED af and the Drake? Have you saw a devastion evokers dmg? the heal is this but he can heal. And must we realy talk about disc? This healer that BASICLY Heals by dealing dmg? no? good. I personal love it to direct heal and gave outhers buffs like pi. The holy fits this conzept.

2:25 min.: I personal only have 10% Haste and try to make my haste and Versa so low as possible in raid and fully swap the stats in M+ For exaple is my M+ Gear by 23% Versa (30%+ is there my goal) and 41% Haste (50%+ is there my goal) crit and Mastery want i sooo low as possible. they are bad stats so to take a item with crit or Mastery at my stats would be high waste of stat points. I only equip items if they have Versa AND Haste for M+ and Crit and Mastery for Raiding. Only special case are equip like the wirst with the broken effect and also there bothers me it hard that there arent the right stats at...

4:22 Min.: In Raid my job isnt to deal dmg and the nimue staff is there better. The stats suits M+ WHERE the holy priest have to deal some dmg plus you have the slow form it what helps the tank to kite. clearly the mastery are wasted stat but the activ is too good plus its sooo much more haste at it that its fine ^^ Vakash dont gave you the slow part plus its a maze. So you need to get a offhand what s*cks in my eyes. for raiding is the staff form the first boss form Tier 3 form df MUCH better. stats at this thing are perfectly for Raiding and i dont have to think about a dmg activ in a raid. You are a healer in raid... Not like in m30 a 4th DD...

4:30 Min.: I personal HATE the Seedling. I gave it a try and in my eyes its realy s*cks hardly. Its deals like zero healing and its REALY anyoning to choice this little thing if everything around you burns. Plus i have to click on it... For what use i clique? To fully avoid swap my target away form the Boss... The Seedling works against my play style and feels soooo unnaturaly tbh... And the the calling: Also anyoning. You have to hold your dot in a raid envoirment high. a thing what i nearly not do and what isnt my job as a heal. works against my nature...

6:44 min.: Belores and the Trinket form Sakra are her much better options for secondary choice as a activ trinket. Then what could also be a good option is the trinket form the broodmother. I got this in my first loot of my first raid day. Im kinda happy to have it but i would swap it MAYBE for rashoks hearth. But i also could ceap it. Its nice bonus healing. but the rage hearth could be realy good for m+ together with Sakras Trinket. I guess the rage hearth is my first buy. Its a realy good trinket as a fail save and my tanks want its save first and its will took to long to get it at the normal way ^^

6:58 Min.: Where is your Divine Hyme? Where your Fail Save? Where your Aditional no CD Battle Rez. I had play Divine Word in Season 1 and i hated it. i highly not recomant it. Then where are your light of the Naru? MUCH stronger because you wants to have your Divine Words up. Light of the Naru make it much more stronger.

I think it’s slightly misleading to say you’re never casting renews. In between pulls or extra down time for when you don’t need to do damage I think it’s beneficial to throw out a few renews to farm for holy word procs

Really annoying stat prios for people do both types of content. I think you should suggest a spread of stats instead. This guide sort of implies you have a 4piece, a starting priest won't be able to rely on serenity to top a party, I think they should also do healing circle and prayer of healing and just forget about damage for the moment. This whole focus on chastise and damage works if your group doesnt eat shit nonstop.
