Here we remember Dirk Preisser´s Opel Kadett C Coupé 16V, one of the fastest 2000cc Naturally Aspirated Hillclimb Cars we have ever watched on the tremendously competitive Berg-Cup. Powered by a Naturally Aspirated C20xe Engine in Touring Car spec capable of 310Hp/10.000Rpm, always being fully explored by some tremendous driving, fighting for the 2.0L Class title for a number of seasons until stopping at the end of the 2018 season.
The fact that this RWD machine weighs less than 800Kg and is tuned with goodies such as 6 Speed paddle-operated Sequential Gearbox and KW Suspensions goes a long way to explain how fast it is. The final product can be seen here attacking Eschdorf and St.Agatha Hillclimbs. The Onboard footage puts everything into perspective, displaying how effective this Monster was.

The pure, unfiltered induction noise of a high revving N/A engine has to be one of the best, if not THE best, sounds of the automotive world. Nothing compares.

Quite possibly the best 4 cylinder N/A Kadett there ever was on hillclimb. I'm in awe with driver's skill as much as i'm in awe with car-fantastic team.
Back in the very early 90's my best mate had a S3 Lotus Espirit Turbo with an uprated S4 Turbo engine. We were chugging along when a Manta 400 lookalike overtook us 5 up. My mate, drops a gear and goes after it, but, we could hardly keep up. The guy driving the Manta was handling it very well despite having 4 passengers, whilst we, in a mid engine fibreglass bodied car with over 300 bhp couldn't take them down. After a mile or two, my mate missed the 3 gear gate ( linkage issues ), over revved and blew the engine. What I thought was a copycat with a bodykit was obviously something special. I saw first hand that day just how fast that engine could be. We'd spent years in various Lotus powered cars and had beaten just about everything we had ever come up against, this was the first time we lost having beaten Ferrari Mercedes Porsche Audi the lot. What an engine, and what a driver to be fair.
Just an awesome car, the sound,speed, handling. Really good package all round.
Oh man! this video pains me!!! I had a 260hp (8500rpm) 20xe in a Lotus 7 replica. There's nothing like the bottom end grunt of these superb motors. When they are done right, very little else compares!!! Excellent driving, excellent video! - now I have to try get my lotus back!

That motor is like a precisely tuned orchestra. Sends chills down my neck and back when I hear high revving engines that sound so amazing, as this one certainly does. The Lexas LFA's Yamaha tuned engine sound, F1 engines, and many sport bike engines do this to me. Love it.

It's not about downforce, a wider track gives a lower centre of gravity.

Ich weiß nicht wie man hier locker von 10.000 RPM sprechen kann. Das gibt der quadratische Motor nicht her (86 Bohrung und Hub). Drehzahl eines Verbrennungsmotors ist mechanisch einzig und allein begrenzt durch die Kolbengeschwindigkeit, auch bei F1 Motoren. Das liegt bei der mittleren Kolbengeschwindigkeit bei 24.-25 m/s^2-1. Die Kolbengeschwindigkeit liegt absolut in der Hubmitte um ca. 20% höher. Bei 2 Liter Hubraum müsste die Bohrung auf 91mm wachsen und der Hub sich auf 76mm reduzieren. Ob das der Zylinderabstand hergibt, kann ich auf die Schnelle nicht beurteilen. Das bedeutet, dass Block gekürzt, Kurbelwelle neu konstruiert, komplett andere Kolben und andere Pleuel. Das hat mit einem Opel C20xe nichts mehr zutun.
Und deswegen gibt es das Wort "Ohrgasmus".
