Thanks to everyone who participated, and thanks for all these subscribers. I must admit I don't really know what to do with them.

Have you ever wanted to discuss my videos in a slightly less terrible format than KZread comments? If so, your suffering is at an end, for I now have a community Discord: discord.gg/q4FR7T5UVR For all things 5D, diplomatic, mortally engined, and more. See you there!

You are actually so adorable 😌
I've just realised that Mortal Engines and the FTL videos were from the same channel. You've got a really great knack for making things I both; had no idea about and loved, and played relentlessly, into brilliantly entertaining videos! Very glad to have been recommended this video :) Edit: Dear god, how do we have such similair tastes and being self critical is how we improve, just don't let it ever be an obstacle, not that you need my advice clearly!

I also found that we have very similar tastes, I'm very glad I found this channel
"I want to make what I want when I want and [patreon] gets bundled up with commitments and expectations" (Paraphrased) But I want you to make what you want, when you want. That's the whole point. To help you have the financial freedom to make the things you like. To make a not-entirely-false comparison, take CGP Grey. His patreon is a monthly, rather than per video so that he can make whatever video catches his attention when he wants to make them with no timing restriction or expectation of what is a "real video". Whether that topic is tumbleweeds, pirate economics, the Tekoi missile testing range, or the origin of the name "Tiffany". Yes, Grey has had 10 years of channel building behind him and a team being supported by his channel while you're doing this as a hobby. But you're doing what you want, when you want to. And that is all that would ever be expected.

I suppose I'm just worried that because I create or want to create very diverse things (video essays vs music vs education vs short stories, etc.) I risk alienating people who support me for only one or a few. If I made a Patreon now and then decided to ignore video essays to focus on music for two years, I'd bet most of the people who gave their support would be disappointed. Obviously I wouldn't do that because I would want to please them, but that's the point - it might restrict what I can make. Arguably even having subscribers does that, but since the investment there is clicking a button rather than giving someone money, it's less of a concern. In Grey's case, he has variety in his uploads but it's hard to doubt his channel's core identity. I honestly don't know what I want mine to be, or if I even want one. Either way, it's nice to know there are people like you who say you would support me whatever I make. Thanks for the comment.
4:39 "It all depends on whether I have the capability to match my imagination." Remembering this, thank you. 8:23 Please, call me Tom. Mr. Foolery was my father.
I had no idea you did anything outside of the channel, and never thought to look for it. I honestly just clicked this for the thumbnail question, but it's kinda disrespectful to ignore everything, and it was neat to learn that you've written books and have other stuff to check out. :D
Thanks for replying to my question! I completely forgot I asked you that and you answering it made my day. You also have a nice name.
I'm around 80% certain the "one of these things onscreen is coming" thing is a video on Leviathan. It just seems like you would like that series
I like to think he pronounced it gif.
I'm putting my money on settlers of catan for the upcoming video, sounds like a game you can make a lot of wild connections with
Do you plan on making a discord server. It's a great way to contact your fanbase, and it works best for mid-sized channels like yours.

If there's enough interest in one and suitable candidates for moderators, potentially.

@@OliverLugg I'll second this suggestion, I love your channel and your obscure yet fantastic tastes, and Discord is so much better of a way to communicate than just KZread comments.

I have now set up a server, although I need a few moderators before I make it public. If any of you are interested in being one, please let me know and provide some way to contact you directly (Discord, Twitter, etc.) or email me at oliveriver1@gmail.com.
here, finally, I start to like what I make I chuckle, also I feel that... not that I make videos, but doing something and going "eh......" until you get a good chunk through it and then starting to think "ok, this is better then I thought, its doing well" is relatable
the FTL video was as amazing as the other ones, so if you want a video idea, please talk about the talos principle. I knew the game before your video, but you convinced me that wee need to dive deeper into what defines a human beings, and if AIs can be considered human if they are sentient.
This video was awesome! I really love your videos, your narration, and everything about them. Good stuff!
I think the video he will do is eragon because it had mentioned in the Mortal Engines one that he read the inheritance cycle and then didn't elaborate further. Plus, mortal engines is extremely similar in the fact that they both got bad (varying amounts for each respectively) movie adaptations.
I guess this is proof that everyone is overly critical of themselves. I really enjoy your voice and you talk in an engaging and pleasant way :)
I did not think i would be here
My favorite maths equation is 1+1=2. It sums up the whole field of maths so easy that it is literally the first equation we learn about as humans. It shows that math follows strict rules on every level of difficulty.
What an incredible channel I have found today! Everything about this channel is amazing and engaging! Keep working and have a great day!
I love your content. it's amazing
I love small world.
I think an interesting way to handle Diplomacy ending as people get bored, would be have every person, as part of their orders, vote to keep going or end after current turn orders are executed. That lets them only roughly know what the state of play is going to be, so that if they get heavily knifed, they may be literally voting for their own L... Which is hilarious!
congrats on 10k m8 (sincerely a sub from turkey)
can't wait for the 50k ;P
I used to think your profile picture was a flower field until I looked at it closer I have no idea where I made that connection

omg that last question hahah
Doesn't patreon have a by piece of media function? Where you get paid per video? That does still get wrapped up in expectation though

Given any streamer could just schlock out fuckloads of highlights on a "per video" patreon channel... yeahhh.
The top right comment on 8:30's name is a riddle, who solves it wins a happy feeling.
Are you going to do a 20k q and a? (Please not that was not my actual q)
patreon allows you to take payments on a per-post basis, and not just time-based, so you could allow people to give you a dollar or two per video, and give early access as a reward.

Gödel incompleteness applied to A priori Ethics creating a infinite space of Morality, needing merely a few non-contradicting personal axioms. The ensuing systems may all be correct, same as 1+1 = 0. Eating an apple and creating the idea of ownership, lest you argue your body isn't yours. In wich case you contradict your words since your words weren't yours. Moral guilt being based on desire/wanting since freewill/choice is nada. Officer I promise Jack pushed my finger on the trigger, but I wanted to shoot Jessie too. I love you man, I'll be your discord mod. And perhaps friend.
you're super perfectionist about making videos... but your profile image is a cropped version of an extremely filtered image of a tree just outside your window.
:)
ehh too much proprietary software was used in the making of this video.
I love pandemic
