So far I am really liking the TX-6, and it allows me to be creative in ways that always being connected to a computer wasn't. I try connecting more things to it all the time. I bought a few small attenuators to use with eurorack, and have been making recordings of mixes onto thumb drives without issues. I have had one session go south, where the audio on the computer just sounded like a garbled mess, but I haven't had that happen again. I spend a bit of time with it every day, and am settling on a setup I should be more productive with.

I've only had mine for ~1 week and actually love it so far. I regret not buying it earlier with how well it fits in my workflow. I have big hands (XL-size gloves) and while I wouldn't use this for live performances, I haven't had any issues with accessing functions in regular usage. The FX should be more assignable and they need to provide some more SW updates for them. But I worry that the chip in the TX-6 might not be able to handle more FX on individual tracks... Also I saw a post on Reddit yesterday that requested shift + knob controls which would be amazing for individual track synth/FX control. Imagine having envelope control just via the shift + knobs while using the synth... that would make it 100x more useful! I'm going on a few big trips in the next couple months and am excited to have a much more capable mixer than my BASTL Dude for the road. Also the iPad Logic Pro app is incredible and makes the TX-6 even more appealing and functional IMO...

Yes Shift knob controls really sounds great! I wonder how well or if Logic Pro can be midi mapped with the TX-6 as mini surface controller and audio interface.

The shift+knob idea would be amazing. That would open up so many possibilities. Let’s hope. Regarding the chip, you might be right, but when thinking of how they were able to do massive upgrades to the OG OP-1 even 10 years after release, I hope they had enough foresight to give the TX-6 enough power for big updates. But I guess time will tell.

I have a TX-6. I was looking into getting a smallish mixer with sends as well as a soundcard. The bump up in price from buying those things stand-alone isn't massive which is how I justified the price. I also very much like the design and the portability, which sealed the deal. Like you say, it has enabled me to start making music without going into a DAW. I just unplug the USB cable and plug in a storage drive instead. I feel very much that the hurdle of actually making and recording what I do is made far easier by the TX-6. The iPhone compatibility is also fantastic. I record what I do so much more often, since it's so easy to do. By far the biggest gripe I have with the TX-6 is the omission of a balanced output. I had to do a lot of work to get my power setup clean enough for the TX-6 not to hold an endless digital noise concert. The ground lift isn't nearly enough if your power is bad. Granted, cleaning up your power is a good thing, so I suppose I'm happy that I finally had the incentive to fix it... :-) The 2v output for analogue sync is also a bit weak. I have to boost the signal if I want to sync my modular which takes a 5v clock. Then again, what digital mixer has analogue sync out...? I also agree with your opinions on the FX. They need to be more flexible. I'd love to have to FX slots instead of the fixed ones. Other than that, I frankly love it. It's very impressive what it can do. The quality and feature set honestly is on par with the price.

I would love to get a looper function per track using a usb stick or a 6 a step sequencer/sampler per track (that would make more sense to use it with the on board synths) but that would make us do some polyrhythms for sure haha

one of the big pros you missed is having: 6xSTEREO on 6 Tracks. This is UNIQUE. And i love the 3.5mm jacks which for me are essential in a dawless setup.

Is the Bluebox not the same with 6xStereo/12xMono?

As an interface, this thing can be great. As my dominant format is Eurorack - controlled by an OP-z and Black Box, I only hope to use this as a mix out and audio interface into my MacStudio. But the overcurrent issue needs to be addressed so people who want this device more integral to their Midi chains are smooth. As for the sound engines, those are Easter eggs. I wouldn't expect TE to advance them anymore.

I have BlockBox coming in the mail to pair with my OP-1 Field and eurorack too! I was hesitant to grab the Blackbox at first since I thought there would be a bit of overlap with the TX-6, but I’m glad others are thinking of these combo setups too!

@@kitespongan Black Box is a real game changer. I use it as a first-in-chain compositional device and sampler. And it pairs so well with OP-Z. I chain them together into my modular via Squarp Hermod. My modular is basically a mega effects processor. My hope is to simply send the audio out of my modular's mixer and into a couple of channels of the TX-6. From there, I hope to pop everything into my Mac for recording. Should be simple, but that overcurrent issue is giving me pause. PS: Get a Novation Launchpad to control BlackBox. It's like peanut butter and jelly. Change your song with a tap of a pad.

They might be easter eggs, but they did announce is as part synth when they released it, which was actually one of the main reasons why I wanted one. And considering that most people think of TE as a synth company, they should have the capability to improve the synth. It doesn’t have to emulate any of their OP-synths, but making them into functional subtractive synths shouldn’t be too much to ask for (but it probably is 😅)

You should mention what Firmware version you are on.

can it be used for stems separation?

Ok now I think I’ll really save up for the TX-6, but am little concerned of overlap with my Blackbox coming this Friday.

can you record 6 mics at once on 6 individual channels into one of these little things?

I have managed to get TX-6 to work in multi device environment using a _powered_ dongle, but never when OP-Z is in this equation for some reason, which is kind of ironic.

Yeah, you would think they would let their own devices communicate, but I guess not. For a while I thought they were gonna release an OP-Z field, but since they just announced that the field lineup is complete, I guess not. I’ve been able to connect more devices a handful of times, but recently I haven’t been able to do it, which is a bummer :/

Can you use my shure sm7b or tlm 103 and record vocals?

You can, but you need a preamp that can send aux out. Like a zoom recorder or something like that

6:06 "the ability to record FX over USB and not just a dry signal" Are you talking about recording into a DAW? When I record the master on a USB stick, it records all the FX. I haven't tried recording into a DAW yet

Thank god for ZOOM and Tascam that makes more affordable and practical alternatives to TEś overpriced products.

Loopback would be amazing! But maybe that would remove some of the incentive to buy the OP-1 field 😅 As to your question, yes it can. It’s actually super handy

Wow, I now just realized TE’s Field line is practically perfect for my small thin hands! I don’t feel too ashamed being a small guy for once! Thanks TE and average to large sized people! 😅

Version 2 will come up… eventually. This is why firmware updates are rare. The new TX-6II device will be a bit bigger, a bit more expensive, of course. Maybe. Probably. Soon. Or not?
