I have both reels and more. The Nasci is light and more of a freshwater bass finesse reel even though it has more seals. The heavier BG has pretty much have no seals beside the drag knob with more better bearings and bigger main gear for cracking power. Very different reel for the same price. Both still catch 🐟. Love both of them on different days.

I made a huge mistake buying the BG 4000 size.... Fishing is no fun at all with it.... Pulled in an oversized red drum and that thing came in surfing on top of the water no fight at all lol It came in so easy I thought I had hooked a catfish. Went ahead and bought a 2500 & a 3000. That 4000 I guess I'll save it for the bull reds in September/October

I had a bad experience with my BG. The roller bearing/bushing got noisy after a few weeks. I lightly rinse after each use. I replaced it and same thing again. I also have issues where the bail arm doesn't always want to snap over when i start reeling. I agree it's buttery smooth and has a great drag system but the noisy roller and bail drive me crazy. I've been sticky with shimano ever since. Love my spheros and vanford

Not sure when it changes but at a certain model on up on the bg they don't have an auto bail and the bg has a line roller bushing so shouldn't make noise maybe some trash got in . I replaced mine with a ceramic bearing and it's noisy as hell I think something about the size and shape of the spool multiply noises.

Thanks for posting 1 year out. Big daiwa fan. Love the 2500 inshore kayak and 4500 on a surf rod. Really something special. The 1500 however, I haven’t quite figured out it’s best use. Freshwater with 8lb mono gets too many wind knots. Maybe too light for inshore.

You can't get wind knots with mono. What you might have is plain old tangles because you spooled the line on the wrong way. When you spool mono, you have make sure it goes on the way it came off the line spool. If you go in the opposite direction, you'll get tangles. This is because mono has "memory" - notice when you unwind some of it on the ground, it's not straight. That's line memory - it needs to go on the same way. Wind knots are different. Go lookup some videos on how to spool on mono.

The Stradic is a much nicer reel for more than twice the price, but my BG has never let me down. Been dunked 3 times and only rinsed off. Still works like a champ!

@@tackleboxtonyy That’s a tough one… I’ve had my old stradics for about 4 years and they still are super smooth… no issues with my BGs at the moment but I’ve only had them for about 2yrs. You can buy 2 BGs for the price of 1 stradic though.

@@tackleboxtonyy I would say you can't go wrong with the BG. It was, when I was in the market for reels "the best bang for your buck" I still love using it now. I don't think you will be unsatisfied with the purchase. I have multiple friends and family that also own the BG with no problems. I would pick the BG over the Nasci, but if the price of a Stradic were the same as the BG, I would buy a Stradic.

Drag is not cranking power.... Cranking power (winching power) is based on gear size

just curious, the bg does have a noticeably lower drag number, did ya notice that at all, i was leaning towards the nasci since the bg in a 3500 is only 17lbs of drag

@@mudjerry there is no big difference in max drag, but I'm leaning toward nasci since it is lighter and if the gear ratio is low enough, it might be even have more cranking power than bg

Nasci C3000HG : 6:2:1 BG 2500 : 5:6:1 BG has more cranking power while Nasci gives extra speed.

He doesn't realize it, I guess. If both of the reel has same gear ratio, I think both of them has about the same cranking power but I think the BG has upper edge due to its longer handle.
