I'm an Aussie. The spider I think of when you say tarantula does not live in Australia and does come from South America. Turns out some of our spiders are part of the tarantula family at a scientific level, but I've never heard another Australian refer to them as such.

Educate yourself before you comment please. These animals should be sent like that for multiple reasons. 1. captures the required heat / humidity and keeps it in there 2. they feel more comfortable and less stressed in small spaces

I now live in Vietnam (originally from Chicago), and it's so funny to me when people find geckos exotic. I have a dozen of these guys - wild - chirping and running around my house at any given moment. And every time I come down to my kitchen one or two of them hop out of my trash can where they feast on remnants of fruit and cake. The other day one crawled under the toilet rim, and I spent like 15 minutes trying to get him out because I didn't want to flush him down into the sewer. They are ridiculously cute, no debate there. :)

So you moved to an exotic place... Where Geckos are native... and they aren't native to at least Chicago.

I have a bearded dragon that I got 2 years ago when my grandson decided it wasn't as cool as he thought it was. I never imagined a lizard could snuggle and hang out on my shoulder as I play Fallout. We bonded as soon as we saw each other and she won't even eat if anyone but me feeds her by hand. Loves her worms, mustard greens and absolutely loves blue berries, which she can only have as a treat. Highly recommend one for.anyone wanting a companion that doesn't need a lot of exercise. 🎉

Never seen this gecko mustn’t live in my area. I fight for my wild geckos in my garden as the local council try to force us to give access so they can spray chemicals on our fruit trees for fruit fly. I have a mating pair that control the fruit fly and I provide a big pot of sand for them to lay their eggs in so I don’t accidentally dig them up. The babies are too cute. She’s had 6 babies over the 3 yrs I’ve been providing a chemical free habitat/ garden for them. No way is the council coming to kill my bio pest control.❤❤❤

Just curious what type of geckos do you use? We have navel oranges and this year there was an "Oriental fruit fly" outbreak that made it so we could not sell our fruit. Would the geckos go for those ones you think??

@@CALIGRL888 yes they would love them. Fruit fly are the perfect size for geckos. I’m not sure the species . It was just a wild one and soon as I spotted them I made sure not to use pesticides, weed killer. I put a few bricks near my orange tree leaving gaps just big enough for them to hide in. Give them a try . If you make it chemical free I’m sure they’ll come if you have fruit fly.

honestly they're not super hard to find if you know where to look, but it depends on the state and they will be expensive. I'm in QLD trying to start a gecko breeding program and it's hard trying to find anything that is breeding age atm lol. Probably going to have to resort to freighting some🫠

Used to get find these in the bank of a creek from my childhood house as a kid, adorable little things. Would being them home so they could eat the house spiders.

I came to suggest this name as well. ...my second option was Midas.

Occasionally I find gecko’s in my house(though I haven’t for 5-7 years) and sometimes I scare them and well their tails fall off but anyways, geckos are cute.

I guess the inner box had enough air in it for that journey, hopefully express! What I think is more upsetting is that now that animal is in a plastic box, despite all the home comforts, for the rest of its life. Imagine if you were holed up in a modest sized house, with everything you needed, but that was it, you’re not allowed out, no fresh air, sunshine, exploration, or other critters. Even prisoners get yard time, and get to run about.
