I sent my crank along with the pistons to darkhorse and had them balance, and, true the crank. It made all the difference . The crank run out measured at .009, it’s very smooth.

You guys live the life that most people are afraid to try. Myself included and yes I ride a bagger but I have thick skin when it comes to your comments on bagger. Keep up the great content. You two are who I call real bikers. You ride bikes that you know there is a chance they are going to brake down. But you know how to fix them on the side of the road. I think that is so cool. Be safe on your travels and keep being your selfs.

Delkrons are way over kill unless your running top fuel, LOL. Or a seriously big bore monster motor. But they're surely better then stock cases. Everyone talks about the bad fuel milage of mikuni carbs. Mostly its people that are used to near stock motors with cv carbs. Cv's get good milage but no real big hit to your wrist like a mikuni. Also s&s carbs aint miserly carbs either. SPEED COSTS, HOW FAST DO YOU WANNA GO!

Ya l really like her and her husband and thecway they look at life but l think she's a little off on this post. Mikuni's can absolutely be tuned for fuel mileage abd still better than any S&S. To me it sounds like the engine combo is just mismatched a little for what they want. Plus higher compression pistons can be made the same weight as the original. Higher compression equals more vibration imo. Physical height of the piston would be the least of my concern balance wise.

Lower comp pistons 8:1 short duration high lift cams, 270-280 % , low overlap, and big inlet valves , c v carb s u will do. Balance rods pistons wrist pins, then crank balance. You only need high comp pistons with 300% cams, as cylinder pressure is lower. Base plate is gasket problem. Good luck. Fxr best h-d frame.

Sally, back in the mid 70s, i built a 88 in shovel. At first it was high compression. As i learned, i dropped the compression, and that motor was the best engine i ever had. Balance is very important. The big inches with low compression was the ticket. I put a ton of miles on that motor and had lots of fun with the performance. Even pasted thru Colorado a few times !!! Lol. Glad you are paying attention, it will pay off in the long run Great video.

They definitely stiffen up the ride, but it does make the bike vibrate a whole lot more, so its a choice between less vibration or tightening up. My husband said it was a nite and day difference when we did it on his a few years back. if ur cool with more vibrate, then i’d say go with it 😁

If something happened to the inspection plate it isnt a big deal. We use to jack them up left and right. Jist get some plate aluminum and copy bolt hole pattern on to plate. Cut plate to dimensions and bobs your uncle. A bike shop could do it if need be. No big deal. Side note, pull that plate off and have a shop check the mating surface. It is probably warpped or something. The sop can machine it back flat and fix your leak issue. Then be careful when you are bolting it back on. Being careful to use the right pattern to tighten it down.

Found your page a couple days ago. As to your FXR. The excessive vibration concerns me? Are you saying that the crank that you used was not trued ? As far as your stat or plug there used to be a holder to keep them in place. The manufactured ones were a little light , we used to make them out of light gauge sheet metal. They always worked. Have you looked the the case plate to see if it is warped? You may be able to fix that with some light sand paper and a piece of glass. I also love the S&S E carbs. Have you ever heard of the Yost power tubes? They help with the atomization of the fuel when you accelerate heavy. Like your channel. Keep it up.

Years ago my Son bought a used Pure Steel Custom. It had a 96cu. S&S with 200/205 compression. It shook like a sombitch. It destroyed headlight bulbs, it shook the screws out of the speedometer face so that shook inside and loosened bolts. After the second time of putting large amounts of money into it, it was time for it to go. I hope you have better luck than my Son, if not it's going to get costly. I would hate to see you go through that. Don't be mean to my Geezer Glide. Yes I do have a 98 Fatboy also and I ride both for different reasons but I ride them both with the top down. After hitting two deer and almost turning into road kill without a helmet a helmet is becoming standard equipment. Dam a geezer on a Geezer Glide with a helmet.
