Hello! dne2588 is only for new users (
It's very thoughtful of you to donate tools to your community work space. Thank you.

Thank you
I’ve bought from Temu. Some stuff comes direct from the manufacturers and some is better quality than others. I’ve many “bits” to add to my better quality machines. I’ve also bought some Makita compatible garden tools. They’ve been just as long lasting as the original Makita tools - infact on looking inside some well known makes they use the same “cheap-Chinese” components.

I love this. Most of the things I buy from Home Depot come from some of the same places
Cheap tools or high end tools, I know we can count on you for an honest evaluation.

Real talk, I've been buying tools from temu for a hot minute, I work in construction and I have been able to find really good deals on stuff like floor levelers, sand paper, head lamps ect. Thanks again Mr. Barry God bless you.

Bless you for helping out your local community wood workshop.
As ever Barry love your honesty in showing us the tools and your thoughts on them. You are in no way pressurising anyone to buy them. I bought some sewing items to be sent to France. They were surprisingly good and the total for 4 items was less than the postage I paid on my last US purchase.
I bought a few tools from Temu and like them very much
Hi Barry, I really like all you videos, this included. I have been looking for a sander and I have been wondering how TEMU really works. So I just bought the sander. Thank you for getting us users this offer. Please just keep doing what you do. Thank you again.

@@MadCityModern I have ordered it. I will let you know when it gets here. You are one of my inspirations on trying my hand at a restore. I have a dark mahogany gate leg table that was in sad shape. Scarped it cause I couldn't use striper. Thats going well so far. Your videos are fantastic. If this comes out half as good I will be really happy. will let you know.
I've found Temu to be a great place for pretty good quality goods for a lot less!

Thanks for the tip!
Thank you so much for honestly reviewing Temu. I have wondered several times about getting something from there. I really love the idea of the community space, that is something really cool! I wonder if anyone would like to start anything like that here! Thank you so much, Barry!❤
I have purchased a few items from temu. Most have been resin pour related, but I did get a mini food grinder, a fluff pill shaver, and a off market dremel with accessory set. I haven tested them out yet, with exception of the mini food grinder, and a leveling table and molds for resin, so hopefully the dremel will work as well as those items.

It's interesting the horror some are expressing over buying from Temu when MANY of the items are exactly the same on places like Amazon or stores like Walmart and Harbor Freight. I do a lot of comparison shopping and find the exact items on many sites but usually at a lower price point on Temu. Even Home Depot and Lowes are primarily loaded with tools made in China. I've bought a lot from Temu and only been disappointed in a couple items, but returns are super simple and free. And they also give you $5 credit if your order doesn't arrive in the estimated time frame.
Please stop using Temu. They exploit workers and create a lot of pollution. If something is that cheap somebody is paying a heavy price. It might not be you, it might be the slave labor they use to keep prices artificially cheap or it might be the unethical business practices they use or it might be the environment paying the price. They have also been called into question over serious cyber security issues. Please look up this brand more and re-evaluate your partnership with this brand. I understand wanting to save money and I don't mind that but please consider other options.

Lots of items on temu are so cheap because they are 'loss leaders' to drive traffic to the site and build popularity. So it's investment money paying the price. Sorry to say but most products come from overseas anyways. The only difference with websites like temu is you are buying more closely direct from the manufacturer rather than paying a middle man. Not to say exploitation isn't part of capitalism but you have to accept all of it. There is real minerals in your smart phone that come from conflict / slave driven mines in Africa. A product from temu is not more or less evil than a smart phone. The whole system is broken
@joykaralyn
Ай бұрын
@awogbob I see your point, but I don't think that because the whole system is broken, we should give up and not at least try to make better decisions to spend our money. The last phone I had for 9 or 10 years. It would no longer connect to the cell phone towers the tech was so obsolete. I'm not a perfect consumer but I try to research to better understand brands and what they stand for and vote with my dollar to support better brands or practices. It's a small step but nobody will make it for us.

Thanks for the insight. I appreciate your feedback. It would be nice for community spaces to have access to expensive tools, but that’s not always the case. Hope this is an option for anyone looking to save old furniture on a budget

@@MadCityModernI have to agree with the poster who says not to use TEMU. They are a problem. I don’t have an inherent problem with getting cheap tools from China, but TEMU is objectively very bad to workers, vendors, and everyone. Like so many of these types of resellers, they also play very fast and loose with things like copyright. I have a friend who is an artist, who has had has designs, descriptions, and even his ad photos stolen and reused for knockoffs from Wish and Temu. 😢 Please work with someone else if you can.

As I live in Europe it is indeed easier for me to get tools from Europe in Europe, yes I pay more than Temu but I don’t have the urge to have everything in my shop, I try very hard to buy products in my country wether clothing tools or what ever and have found that giving out that little bit more you get a better quality and help small business get on their feet, is just my opinion
I love your work athink it's your choice on tools and where the are purchased. If someone has any complaints they should go to the company and complain. Keep up with your great work restoration and it's great you stand up to people who can't prove what they say.❤
I appreciate the review of the Temu products. It's great to know whether they are worth a shot.
Barry, i regularly buy from temu, nothing wrong with it. Most items we buy anywhere else is coming from the same place, china, look at its label.

I've read a few things about that company, but I haven't done any research into their business practices. I trust your integrity though, Barry, so your endorsement carries some weight. Not true! it's actually good quality stuff . I buy my ceramic supplies there , fraction of the price, no sending costs and good service.. May be it's time to stop the "China = bad quality"...They have besides a better service than many Western companies!
Hey Barry, Temu has a controversial reputation. Many of their manufacturers use child labor and there are also concerns that Temu exploits users' personal data information. I understand that if one is on a tight budget that we have to shop wisely. However, I think we also have to consider what goes behind the products we buy. My father (a machinist and tool & die maker) always told me to buy the best tools that you can afford. That advice served me well over the years. I have tools that have lasted me for decades. Over the years, I also foolishly bought cheap stuff that ended up failing and needed replacing so I ended up paying more in the long run that if I had just bought quality tools as I could afford them. Just food for thought..... Thanks for your videos.

For some people, buying the best they can afford does mean buying from Temu or places like Harbor Freight.
I just ordered a hodgeposge of items. I've been leery of temu but the discount was too good. I'm trying them out
Hi Barry, it’s good that you review tools etc for other users. But the comments here, vary so much, from very negative, way up to very positive! I’m glad I don’t have to use any and have to choose!
❤❤❤
So the prices are correct? I saw adds from Temu, but it looked too cheap to be true. I'll have a look. Just like you I like to have a balance between good quality and afordable prices.
3:26 the marking knife is double bevelled but it's also got a bevelled grind on both sides. WTF??
No, Barry, no! I'm in Temu rehab right now 😮

Agreed. I know an artist who has had his designs, ad copy, and even ad photos straight up stolen and used to market knockoffs of his own designs. Hours and hours of labor ripped off by someone pouring a mold off of his work. Very disheartening. 😢

As if this alleged behaviour only happens in China. Just Google Dixibelle uncompetive behaviour and also search on KZread regarding this topic. You will find search results iro stencils, knobs/pulls and lots of other stuff. It also incudes designs, photographs and promotional material. Just see how uncompetitive their business practices are. You live with blinders on if you believe it only to be Chinese companies accused of the behaviour alleged by you. Even Apple, whose products are manufactured in Asian countries are accused of the same kind of behaviour.
Downloading their app on your phone and agreeing to their terms gives them access to all your data. Huge security risk

All this negative comments are based on hearsay. Just because you claim that it exists, does not make it true. You also base it on your westernised views, but for a labourer in China or India, Vietnam, or whatever country it is an income with which to support a family. Try to stop being so judgemental and with protectionist commercial viewpoints. I am not from North America or Europe, so protecting those economies is irrelevant to me. I would rather buy a cheap tool for single use and then dispose of it before spending a lot of money on a tool that I will never use again. A lot of products used in the US and Canada are made in China anyway. Maybe you don't buy it through Temu or Shein, but you buy it anyway at your local stores.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

If there were no Temu I wouldn't be able to enjoy my hobby. Virtually all products available on Amazon or in brick and mortar stores is manufactured in China. That's where the worlds factories are. I certainly don't agree with exploiting children or anyone providing labor for that matter but I'd rather knowingly purchase from China than from another source that charges 4 times the amount for the same thing made in the same chinese factory with their own logo attached. I wonder if we boycotted chinese products all together would the chinese people be better off without jobs when all the factories close?
