Same here... But then it was clear he was giving up on us. So I "walked away". The reasons for the breakup was complicated. We were long distance and his Indian family wanted nothing to do with me. So he gave into the pressure of his family's plan to arrange his marriage 💔 I still care about him and in my mind I understand the situation. But my heart hurts because I wasn't good enough for him to fight for us. I want to reach out and still be his friend but I know that's just for the "high" I know I'll end up crashing when he "seen zones" me. It's so hard to let go 💔

i’m going through the same thing and what i feel works for me is to wait if i can, don’t message him even if i’m feeling down about us not talking, try things that will take your mind off texting him, watch fun videos or speak to someone who makes you laugh i find it better to wait until he texts me if he does therefore i know he genuinely wants to talk to me and i feel less on edge during the conversation if he doesn’t message you and feel like you desperately need to text him or want to check up on him i don’t think you should fight that or at least i don’t if it’s what you feel like u need to do. it’s always going to be hard to break that habit so just do it one step at a time, only speak when u desperately need to- this is all what worked for me with the situation i’m in with my ex x

I can relate to this. My boyfriend broke up with me yesterday over text message. We had been dating for over a year and I thought he was so special. I know that I deserve so much better, for the last months he did not treat me well even though I did nothing but love him. He told me that he didn’t love me anymore and even though I saw it coming it was still a shock. We’ve been talking and it makes me feel better like the breakup never happened and I want to move on and cut him off but I’m scared that he’ll never reach out again and there’s a big part of me that wants him to change his mind and regret it.

This is absolutely true and something I've tried teaching my girls. Whenever I've had A break up, I immediately get into NO CONTACT mode and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME they come back. Problem is, when they do, I no longer want them. If you're leaving, you need to STAY gone because there's no going back on my part. 7.5 billion people on this earth... nobody has time to be crying over some fool that does not recognize your worth! 7.5 billion people... Remember that!

U have to focus you yourself and cut ties with them. When u do that u just feel stronger and u get your power back. It took alot of strength from God but I said enough and got to the point when I said I'm done and I have been. I hang out with friends, I go out, I'm looking into new things etc. When u do that you realize your worth.

I'm in the same boat, and looks like it started about the same time as you. So unfortunately I don't really have any advice for you other than *not* to contact him, like Matthew said. I already did, promising to do better and asking to get back together, and I'm sure it just made matters worse in his mind. He blocked me on social media before I really said anything, so it's not like I was harassing him to cause that. I left him a voice-mail since he blocked my number too, and leaving that message is how I pleaded with him. I left that same message in our dating app chat, and then he left the chat room. There are other platforms I could contact him on, but I won't. I made it clear in my last message that he wouldn't be hearing from me again if he didn't want to. I acknowledged his feelings, promised to do better (even though I didn't realize I did anything wrong) and said I knew after that I would have done everything I could. So since he ignored those I'll have to be moving forward, as much as it hurts. The relationship was very brief, but we quickly learned almost everything about each other, and had SO much in common, and seemed to connect very deeply. I thought I had found my soulmate, although what I told him was that he was the most amazing guy I'd ever met, and he said he'd never felt this way about anyone. I really would give anything to turn back time, I just wish I knew where I could have done better..

How long since the break up? I also react to stress like that and 7 yrs ago I had the worst break up, with someone I considered to be the love of my life. I litteraly needed 2 and a half years to ever think of a relationship with someone, i barely had a desire to see a man. It affected my health and I am still trying to fix the health issue i got afterwards. So take care of yourself. It is hard, but believe me, you'll feel strong and happy again, unfortunatelly the process is not easy. I am also going through another break up now, but I already had my big break up in life so kinda know I'll be alright... It hurts but I can handle it. And I am on my 18 days no contact... I have ups and downs but i try to control the pain when it comes. I have mixed feelings and i am mostly doing the no contact for myself. I am going through the most difficult period of my life, with mum cancer patient, my work, my master thesis... I dont need a selfish asshole in my life, that has no basic human sense and makes me feel worse during difficult time. Stay strong and focus on things that make you feel good... Make a change :)

When I was single or heart broken I spent so much time trying to convince guys that I was perfect for them, chasing guys, and wondering on how to get him to commit to me. For your information, I'm 20 and my fiancé is 21. I'm clearly not a 40-year old couch potato. My advice to women was to not date guys that are not worth it. "Waiting" for the right guy to come along doesn't literally mean to sit at home all day, it simply means to date quality type of guys who have their life together and who want a serious commitment that will lead to marriage which is was every women ultimately wants.

Last time I listened to this video, I was in so much pain because I was just going through a heart break, nothing made me feel pain, watched all kinds of videos on break ups to make me feel better but nothing worked... It was an addiction...a few months later, I got over the addiction and thank God for the break up because now more than ever I realized he was not right for me, I now realize that I wasn't even attracted to this person and that he wasn't my person. I got broken up with 5 hours ago. The first person I loved. I have cried non-stop and I have felt so empty and lost.... then I saw this. First video I saw when I came onto KZread for a distraction. I believe I was meant to see this. I believe it because 20 minutes before watching this I was planning all the ways I could get down on my knees and beg him to come back to me. This has given me some strength in fighting this addiction. Whether he comes to his senses or not, I need to take care of myself and take that no contact rule into immediate effect. +Dove Love there's a great book called "it's called a break up, because it's broken". They have a whole chapter on the no contact thing, as well as wonderful other advice. Regarding the no-contact, they write there should be no contact whatsoever for at least 60 days straight.

I haaaate chasing people. I actually don't know if I've ever been in love myself cause no matter how appreciate you, if you mess around it's over.

Your so intense and intelligent in human relationships. It’s not about dating you speak about but something greater than. Human interaction.

Same things happened to me 3 days ago, we're not that exclusive though. He told me that he is going to date someone else. I cried all the night and now I'm trying no contact method but not to bring him back, just to move on in life and to never ever see him in life not even as a friend. He never loved me the way I loved him and that's fine also, you can't force anyone to love you. But the fact is that I don't want to invest in someone who doesn't feel the same. It would be good if I could stay as friend with him, but it's only going to hurt my feelings and sooner or later I'm going to be heartbroken again. This is so true. I was in love with a man who was emotionally unavailable and I was willing to do anything for him. When he dumped me, it broke me and I tried to get him back...it backfired. I was miserable...but now I've come out from the other side. I've cut off all contact and moved on, I start taking care of myself, loving myself, cherishing myself. I wouldn't care if he comes back. I've found someone who treats exactly the way I'm meant to be treated: respect and kindness. To all those suffering, take care of yourself, love yourself and you will survive and thrive.

I went no contact initially which lasted about 2.5 months, until he reached out. I took the bait so hard because I had been waiting and waiting for this moment. But I was all too quick to forgive him and come running to his doorstep. I think even he was surprised, he even said that he ‘can’t believe I am so forgiving’... I clearly wasn’t ready at this point to approach him with a clear, strong mind, but I didn’t know that at the time. I was still very much addicted. 2 months goes by and he basically used me again as his secret affair, despite always finding the words and answers that seemed to satisfy my questions. I finally had the courage to walk away and say I deserve better. It took a moment of strength to send that message, even though I spent weeks after going back and forth on whether or not I should’ve sent it. Either way, I stuck with it. He said he couldn’t be ‘that person right now’, and that would always be his answer, it was obvious to me then. A few more months go by, and I gave in a few times where I’d send a message letting him know I’m thinking of him or saying something kind. I thought about him every single hour of everyday. I tried to keep my distance but I’d always relapse slightly and feel I’d have to start again when I received such an average response back. Finally, November 2019 I sent my last ‘nice’ message, knowing I was about to leave for Japan for 18 months and start a whole new life. He didn’t even finish the conversation and just left me hanging. So I decided. This was it. I didn’t sent a Christmas message, or a Happy New Year message (which I would always do), and then Valentine’s Day rolls around. I didn’t send anything to him either. But low and behold, at 7pm at night a message comes through and there’s his name staring at my screen. It says, ‘Still think about you a lot! Where are you? I hope you’re having a good time! I trust you are.’ Now, as I clutched my heart and almost fell to the ground hyperventilating, it took the entire force of universe and some very caring friends for me not to reply. I’d been waiting for a message from him for so long. I’d cried and cried, I’d dreamt of him, I would still catch myself staring at his pictures, but still, at this point I’d gone 3 months of no contact and was feeling quite good about the future. When I decided that I wouldn’t reply, and I let it sink in for a few days, after about 2 weeks I felt really powerful! I had ignored him for the first time in my life. I knew what was better for me and my well-being, and whilst ignoring him felt unnatural and unkind (in my mind), the anxiety and uncertainty I would feel if I had messaged and fell back in that loop just wasn’t worth it. I wanted to keep the high ground I’d spent so long fighting for. His birthday passed a few weeks ago, and I also refrained from messaging him. I’m now feeling very strong, and him reaching out actually helped me with my healing process because it gave me a chance to ignore him. It gave me the choice to do so after some healing. I am feeling really quite good about it all now, and after blocking him off everything and making sure my settings are all private, it really goes help you think about them less each day, because reminders don’t just ‘pop up’, as you go about your day. Still healing, but making progress!

It’s been a year since you posted this.. I am wondering how are you feeling right now? I am very much in the same situation as you i don’t know how much will power and determination i’ll be needed to not contact him and give in if he contact me.

Your voice is so comforting. First guy I've liked since my boyfriend died 2 years ago, I was so afraid of dating again... But I opened my heart. Made some mistakes as my triggers reared their ugly heads, he said he was willing to be a team, and that j should be willing tk be open and communicate more.... Then he went silent for a bit and the next time I heard from him he said he just wanted to be friends for a while, and that I'd have to be happier with my life and more stable if he was to consider dating again... I started therapy and was inspired by liking this new guy becasue I don't want to put my reactions onto a new love..... However there were a couple times when j did try and communicate my needs as I was feeling anxious, he kind of got defensive and dismissive. Anyway... I know he's not emotional mature. And I'm not entirely looking to get back with him. But, I need to move on.. This triggered the big loss emotion from 2 years ago...and at first I said I didn't wanna be friends.... Then I sent him a big message days later... And again.. And again, until he finally replied and said I can't give you what you need. And then i sent more and more.. And then resort g to begging him to at least stick to his word and try and give it a chance..... And then he said I broke his trust. And then I said I'd be willing to show him that I'm working on my last traumas and I won't go silent and abandon him, I won't always have these big reactions if I have a safe place to express these feelings.. And he said you need to go work on your stuff by yourself and he needs to work on his by himself.... And I sent one last message saying how about we hang out no pressure a couple times, we can see how it goes and then after we've actually given it a shit with open communication then at least I can walk away saying I tried my best.... He never replied of course. Is it too late to send the I accept message?...... Becasue honestly, I'm ready to, I want to... I know I'm just hanging on becasue he's the first guy Ive liked since my late partner and I thought he was special.. But I'm realsing he's just like anyone else... And there's definitely a man out there willing to love and support through my scary first relationship back after losing a partner to death..... But I have said alll of these things now... I know I'm being too much, too clingy, too desperate. But that's not really who I am. It's my trauma response. Any answers?

This really helped and made me feel better. I broke up with an amazing man 16 days ago, because we had an issue he couldn't overcome about something in my past, (that happened to me - not that I did). I miss him so much and haven't contacted him since I ended it, he hasnt contacted me either. I've been working, been out with friends, been to see family and yet I can't keep my mind occupied all of the time, so the sadness hits at weird times without warning. I hope he'll be able to see his reaction was over the top, and he'll miss me enough to try to get his head around what happened and fix things. If not, well then that's the best decision I could have made, even though it hurts.

So true! Relationship was bringing in a lot of stress and miscommunication, so he broke up w me. 9 years ago, I was so in love with a guy while he only wanted to be friends with benefits. The same thing happened to me. He promised me the world, he told me I was his queen and that he wanted to do whatever he could to make me happy. Maybe it wasn’t as good as I thought. After discussing if we wanted a relationship and trying to be clear with what we wanted. About a few days later he let me down and told me it wouldn’t work because he was too busy. I felt broken inside and angry because he knew that I had been assaulted when he came back and he treated me so well compared to the other guy. He told me he felt lucky to have me in his life and that everyone should know that I should be treated like a queen. And now feel like a joke, like I’m cursed. The only reason he came back was because he was fucking lonely. I was fucking lonely too and depressed from being sexually assaulted by the last guy but I never go back to other people for my own selfishness because I want something real, disagreements and all…. I’m angry because I really believed everything he told me. I feel broken because I’m constantly hurt when I try to find love. Right now I want to stay away from it because nothing good has come out of it for me. I’ve just become more depressed. Relationships probably aren’t as great as we make it out to be anyway so what’s the point of wasting my life away on someone who doesn’t care. It’s like men only care about my looks and that’s it. I have such a amazing personality and I just wish people would take the time to truly get to know me. I just don’t understand why someone would tell me they like my personality plus all this other stuff and still disappear. How do I believe the words lovers tell me if most of the time they don’t mean it? Sometimes…. It feels like some people just have it easy. For example my sister went through a few idiots and got over involved and angry but after a month of searching fucking Tinder, she found her boyfriend. There are people my age who are in long term relationships even the people who have been, are, or use to be insecure. They are perfect. I thought that maybe if I was perfect all around then I would find a lover and then it became difficult to achieve but I avoided dating until I realized I didn’t need to be perfect. I stopped obsessing about my weight and worked on trying to just become stronger. I wanted to approach dating in a different way by dating for the fun of it just to be entertained but still hang out with people and get to know them like a friend because I’m a very social person but then I would end up getting ghosted before I could ever get to go out because all they wanted was sex and I just wanted to hang out and do activities and that’s it. Maybe I should just make more friends and just travel a bunch and not even think about dating. It’s broken me so much that I just want to avoid it all together.

The best advise ever.. thank you Matthew for the video. My no contact rule is still going on.. 1 year 5 months later... Ended a relationship with my then bf of 1 year, who just didnt know what he wanted.. I got tired feeling in libo.. .and walked out.. This time for me has been about just focusing on myself ..my career.. my family..my health... its been an amazing time of self discovery.. I'm about 18 months into 'no contact' and it changed my life - for the better. Without the overthinking about whether he would call me, whether I should call him, should I accidentally on purpose show up where he is so we bump into each other etc. I've allowed myself to move on just being....me....and doing life without him. I know if we had stayed in our cycle of dipping in and out of contact I would have been stuck forever holding on just a little bit to a man who wasn't right for me.

Eddie ramos it’s okay I’m in the same boat but my relationship was 2.5 years and we lived together and he dumbed me a week ago I haven’t ate slept or anything and I knows he’s fine without me and it hurts be we can get through this we just need to heal and believe in ourselves! ♥️

I’ve been with the guy for almost 2 yrs now . We we help and support each other a lot. When pandemic started I moved to his apartment and in a way we’ve been living together ever since . He was so happy with me but now he says he’s not that into relationship. It really hurts when one doesn’t reciprocate. 😢 I have to step back and give him more space if I wanna try to save this relationship

I started the no contact period months ago and ever since I feel myself remembering who I was single. It's crazy. I can't lie that I miss that feeling of having someone there but it's not as urgent as before. I feel amazing. Mathew knows what he's talking about

Cathee45 as soon as he broke up with me we talked for months after. First he wanted to be friends then he wanted a relationship, then he wanted to be friends again. After I started the no contact period cause I was tired of that he did reach out to me asking to be friends. So to answer your question yes he did but he hasn't reached out since. I admit I cheated once and contacted him but it was a one day weakness. Never did again. Btw he contacted me one month after I started the no contact period.

I finally told him not to contact me because he asked to remain friends and he was perfectly fine with the decision he just said ok and that was that. I think that made the break up even worse. His nonchalant attitude about it is driving me insane and I’m not the type to get in a relationship if I don’t see forever with them.

Going through it right now as well. It’s been a week. We’ve been together for almost two years, but one day he finally tells me he isn’t feeling fulfilled in this relationship. We both agreed to stay friends. But he was also so chill about it as if the breakup didn’t affect him at all. Not only that but he wants to stay friends yet I always have to be the one initiating conversation as I always did when we were together. I don’t know if it’s wise for me to stay friends with him. I’m hurting so badly.

MegaSebr The main problem is that he would still want to hang out, and matter of fact he surprisingly texted me first just a couple hours ago! I’m doing well so far with the healing process despite it only being a couple of weeks as we were not in contact with each other for the past 2 weeks until now. It seems as he still genuinely wants to be friends. I’m still unsure whether or not I sure say friends. I don’t think he intends to just be texting buddies though, maybe he really wants a friendship.

Thank you I have seen many videos almost everyone suggested the same but the way you said it motivated me.

Feel that, I am still trying to figure out a way cause he's narcissistic and I know I will never be happy in the long run with him, but I still love him...

I broke up last night. In the morning I try to text him and call him 10 times , finally I talked to him, he didn’t want to talk with me, but I begged him to stay, I asked him, do you still love me? He said “ I am no longer love you anymore “. I still beg him to stay. I just can’t accept it. It hurts so bad and I know I never get his respect. He use bad words to me..😢😔 still I keep listening and talking to him 🥺 I said I was a negative virus and a trash 😖 . After I watch this, I will love myself and move on. I have to accept that my love is over. Thanks 🙏
