This is important to show @Captain Matt 👍👍 Pre-sifting the bedding and using the correct number of worms and adding the correct amount of bedding at the right time not only produces next to pure castings but also makes the final sifting (harvesting of castings) very efficient. The moral of the story is if you want pure castings pre-screen the bedding first. Not only do you break the bedding down for the worms (so the microbes and bacteria do not have to for faster eating) you save time and have less waste at the final sift. The time it takes to pre-sift and sift in the end is less time spent if just doing the last sift, with more conversion and less waste (nothing is wasted but less to reuse). I use the buckets, always pre-screen and end up with 2-3 cups undigested or overly wet littered with cocoons out of 2.5 gallons. With that method I add fresh bedding for the cocoons to hatch in. That is a method of breeding and growing worms to their genetic potential. With bed-run bins the overs equal about 3-4 cups after the last sifting for every 2.5 gallons sifted. Me too! The 5000 worms I bought and am breeding with seem like a fart in the wind but I’ve managed to more than double them over the last 6 months so hoping one day I’ll also manage to harvest a ton of castings 😅

the casting's look great my thought and question is the 1 ton a win or fail? my thoughts are its good it worked but my fail thoughts is it compacts those clumps from the excessive weight. do you think a continuous worm bin would yield less work but better results?

Hello Capitan Matt, I have around 800 or so worms so far and I started my bin around 3 months ago. If I was to harvest the castings from the bin and put them in a bucket for storage and slowly stock pile more and more do those castings I harvested have a shelf life or can I just continue to store them until I have enough to start selling them? I have been thinking about building a CFT bin based on your designs. Now that you have used 1 Ton bags and had success, what is the best way to create worm castings, CFT or 1 ton bag?

Do you ever have a pest problem from your outdoor homemade compost? I always have millipedes and spiders in mine...

Sifting it again before bagging is also bringing in a lot of air reinvigorating the microbes If I can make a business out of it despite my disability, it's more about getting it out there to the people than filling the bank account as much as possible

Very good as usual, I'm a bit puzzled about the worm tea you package and sell, everything I have studied about the tea is that it needs to be used quickly, is this your thoughts and if not what source of info are you using to say it last longer?

Hey Global Wormer! I brew tea on Wednesday and bottle on Friday evening for sale on Saturday AM. I advise every one to use it that day or leave the cap off and add a sugar every few days. In practicality most people use it that day.

Hi Kathy… when I was just producing for my own gardens, continuous flow bins worked well for a constant supply - but were too laborious for large bulk quantities

How do you keep the castings moist in that one ton bag until you are ready to sift it and sell it?
