IMG needs pitching bad. They have one solid pitcher. They struggle sometimes at the plate. When that happens and you can’t get outs on defense makes for a lot of tough games.

One thing I found weird is that Bob Jones catcher provided no target to the pitcher. Lays his glove on the ground.

@@clintwaters8278 Might not be the reason but laying your glove low or on the dirt helps with framing pitches. It helps the illusion when pitches are near the dirt. (Raising arm motion) so you can pull more breaking balls into the strike zone for calls

The Alabama team plays aggressive, solid fundy ball, their hitters were much more disciplined and aggressive, also, their pitchers threw strikes...imperative. I was extremely impressed w both catchers.

leadoff batter of the game was safe at first.

Pitching win games the older you get. Errors are next important, and IMG struggled with both.

Coach Smith called it at the end there. The only thing left is to win a state championship. Bob Jones going all the way this year in 7A Alabama, they are going to bring home the first state title to Madison

IMG is filled with good players, but it’s clear they lack fundamentals for the sake of flash sometimes. Plenty of moments they needed a base hit or a bunt and guys are giving a HR swing. Like cmon I’m guilty of it but it’s the championship and you’re high schoolers, usually guys aren’t easily hitting home runs til later in college. Also the pitcher putting defense in tough spots, along with errors are never fun to deal with all game long. It gets exhausting. They’re too good of recruits to being doing what they did in that game

Need to do a video of Harlem High school in Ga. They are the defending 3A state champions, ranked #2 in the state in all classifications only behind Parkview. Last seasons overall record 35-1. Currently 14-0 this season and rolling.

Pitching is fine, their fielding is sloppy and show-off style crap. Stay grounded and do your job and stop flicking balls trying for double pays if it’s not there. Stay down on the ball and make good throws. Sheesh!! They always blame pitching but the pitcher is getting balls grounded that get fumbled time and time again. Shout out to all the pitchers who know the struggle is real!!

IMG’s SS needs to “deadass” learn how to field. Has the flashy look and cocky attitude, just has a mediocre skillset to back it up.

Love seeing rich kids with attitudes getting humbled they carry themselves with such a bad attitude for example in the top of the 6th when a pop up was hit to the third baseman and shortstop tried to call him off but third stayed and dropped it and short points at him mad.

IMG… where the best players in the country go so they don’t have to be forced by real high school programs to play the game hard. Rude awakening for a lot of these “super stars” at the next level

Not sure about your “point of the plate” comment. Umpires are taught to work the “slot” between the catcher and batter. HP did a mechanically fine job staying steady and reading the pitches with eyes. I watch from an umpire’s perspective as well.

“Point of the plate” is not referring to his position during the pitch. We are talking about during the play-there is no need to be drifting off to the 1B extended area away from the “point of plate”

img had a very bad game and the red team had a very good one , do i think there better than img? hell na. img is a very researchable team. as we saw they shifted on a few kids im sure they knew what they were throwing to every single kid on img. from top to bottom.

IMG's fielding was atrocious.

This is where I disagree. The umpire is supposed to be in the slot in between the catcher and batter so those foul tip shots doesn't smoke him and possibly knock him out. Trust me I been there. Those aren't fun.

Don't watch many of your IMG vids. They sure have talent at IMG, but at least in this game, they don't have defensive fundamentals down very well. It is still just HS baseball though.

Walks haunt 👻 IMG SP was trying to over throw . Couldn’t find the zone . Then was backed by a terrible defense . This is what you call the #1 team in the country? Pfff yeah I don’t think so . Not one kid impressed me . Bob Jones did though . The kids hustled and played hard. They were patient at the plate , knowing the pitcher was struggling .

When we match up and play some of these top ranked travel ball teams, those are the pitchers I throw at em and have the most success with. I throw a kid who has velo and they will shell him but let me throw the kid with a big bender and that throws slow & slower and until they get through the lineup once, sometimes even twice through the lineup, their rolling over or popping everything up. Once they start to finally sit back and hit, that's when I'll send the kid out with some velo. Img was doing the same thing. Kid had a nasty curve but they were struggling to sit back and were giving up on the breaking ball too early.
