If there ever was an example of exactly WHY pitchers need to go the JUCO route, this video proves that point. Tons of velocity, flashes of electric stuff, but far too many walks and non-competitive pitches. The JUCO ranks are loaded with pitchers just like these guys...and if you are a pitcher, it's a great route to go because you will get the opportunity to put innings against live comp under your belt vs. "developing" at some 4 year school and maybe not ever getting to throw for them. Smart coaches are pulling pitchers from JUCO....those with 75-100 innings of experience. COVID also loaded the JUCO ranks to the brim with talent. MLB pushed everyone down levels with the restructure too so the big boys who would be in Rookie or A ball are now at D1 and so on.

@@theogburnsy Same but in the late 90s. Imagine juco baseball now but with bats with no regulations. I pitched, not sure how I survived. I did give up a few homeruns that are probably in orbit.

This really puts into perspective how many D1 commits end up at JUCO, which is not a bad thing at all… they just needed more time and went somewhere they can play and develop. Which is fantastic to see and think more players should go that route!!

Real game reps are super important in college! No need to go sit 2-3 years at D1 when you can play immediately at other levels.

i went there for baseball back in 2012. at the time hill college in Hillsboro was giving us the beats. glad the times have changed haha.

TX coach scouting report couldn’t have been more spot on. Zero command of any pitch, maybe threw 2 breaking balls for a strike. Solid approach from TX

In 1985 I played with 2 guys from there, they talked about it all the time. Jeff Cook and Cordell Williams. We were in the outfield playing in Oklahoma, I was a freshman and they were juniors I believe. Man I miss those days.

I had no idea they only played 7 in JUCO...

lately i’ve been wondering, is it easier to get a scholarship to big name schools nowadays or something bc i always see these kids PG profiles and they’re all committed to D1’s. When I played you only put the school you signed with as your commitment. Clearly kids are just putting whatever school they want nowadays to make themselves look better 😂 But on some serious shit, gah damn i miss JuCo ball.
