Knock on wood, but so far this has been the only issue we've experienced with our 140k mile 2012 Fusion. Driver door handle broke a few years ago, and just now the rear passenger (which is never even used!) handle is dangling. Don't even know if it's worth replacing with how little the car's worth at this point, but if we get the time to get around to it I appreciate the OP for the video help.

Never touched a car for work until today. Watched this video and replaced my handle in 30 minutes. Thank you!!

Thanks man! You're the first one I've come across that actually showed how the handle works with the lock. Been trying to figure out how this handle/lock works before I take the door off and replace it, now I have a good idea it's the same problem instead of something further down mechanism. (2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid)

My Mercury Milan '09 door handle just did this! I was told the Ford Fusion and Milan are the same chassis so this part should work on my Mercury. Many thanks. New sub, and yep, I watched it all the way to the end! Three times! 🙂

This brought back a flood of memories. My second car was a 1980 chevy malibu sedan with the 229 V6. Rear bumper was a 2x6 piece of hickory attached to the car with L brackets, exhaust was merely a suggestion, rear door caved in, and the coup de Gras was the inside driver door handle. It broke off leaving a small stub. So I drilled a hole into the stub, and tied a piece of thick string to the stub and to the parking brake release. Voila! A functional inside driver door handle lol. Thanks for the video. Just replaced on my 2012 for the second time. Make sure to push the white plastic pc on the cable back into its notch or it won't lock completely. I had to take the unit back off when I realized something wasn't right.

My 2010 Fusion has had almost no issues, but I'm about to have to replace my second interior latch release. Appreciating the recommendation right now.

Mine just broke on my 2010 fusion. Gonna go ahead and attempt a repair on my own. Wish these handles were just made of metal to avoid this headache. Thank you for demoing how to remove the door interior

My 2010 Fusion was a super lemon and then some. They had to rebuild my 6F35 transmission twice under 10,000 miles and just never drove right. The dashboard had to be replaced because it constantly oozed some plasticide out of it. The interior driver's door handle broke as well. I liked the car but it was a constant headache.

I'd do the same thing Rich. If someone don't appreciate the things you do to help people out and learn, then they can go find the Part # themselves. What in the name of the wide world of sports do manufactures use cheap plastic on a part that gets used like a Door Handle? How Silly is that? (Cheap Junk Plastic). "O" well. Job Security for the Tech's, Inconvenience for the Customer / Car Owner. Bummer.

@Ken DAVIS Why cheap plastic ? Because the CEO and shareholders only care about the last red cent they make, they don't worry about repairing cars, those big wigs just go buy another $200,000 Mercedes, BMW, Ferrari, ect. and do not care. It's flat out greed..

Plastic has it's place but not for latch releases not door pulls. Lent my 14 Fiesta to my business partner and it came back with the driver's door pull broken off. I was pretty pissed when I found out it was only sold as part of the entire panel. Be blessed Rich 👊

All this plastic parts make me sick!

I own a 08 Fusion. I know it's gonna happen. If I lived closer to you I'd let you repair my vehicle. 95,000 miles and she still runs great! I have a note pad on my cell that I keep this info in. I wouldn't trade her in for a new car!

Volkswagen would have 38 types of fasteners holding just the door handle on of which there'd be 72 variants of. Don't ask how I know.

My 2010 Fusion had this exact same problem way back when. They replaced the interior door handle under warranty. It felt very tight afterwards.

This happened to the drivers door handle on our 2011 Fusion. If you have this happen and are cheap and don't want to fix it, you can pull on the lock to open the door (I think you had to pull the handle first, then the lock, I can't remember as we don't have the car any more). We used our fusion like this for a couple years until some a** rear ended us and totaled it. I just never got around to fixing it. It's like Ford knew this would happen and made a backup way to open the door with the lock, lol.

I replaced mine twice and then just gave up and used it exactly as you described. Every handle at pick and pull was always broken too. Real easy job for people to do, appreciated the simplicity of replacing this part.

This is what I am doing for the time being. The only issue is that my door does not lock (the alarm/ignition lockout still works if someone were to open the door). Of course the other option would be to roll the window down and open the door with the exterior handle

I am assuming this works similarly for the rear doors as well? Mine the Electric Locks won't unlock FR RL and one door the handle will not engage the RR door.

Yep I had to do that twice when I had my 2011 Fusion sport AWD. I did have that cable end break once, would not recommend the Dorman cable at all. Get the oem cable. I do miss that car.

Rich, unrelated, but I have a 2011 Expedition that I've put 4 airco compressors in, in the last couple weeks. They will work if the weather is cold but as soon as it gets warm bingo. Almost like a defective relay but there are no relays Any suggestions. 2 different shops have worked on it. I'm stumped! Thx for your time. I'm in Hou, TX.

Unrelated to this vehicle but maybe you can help me out. 2012 F150 raptor. Was perfectly fine then one day I turned the truck off and it just wouldn’t start. No crank no start. Every dash warning comes on, no gear indicator. OBD reader unable to communicate with vehicle. All fuses that should have power, have power. All connections near passenger kick panel are fine. Connections by e brake are fine. Any common failure points in these vehicles that could cause this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated! Been at this for a week and I’m stumped. I can rebuild an engine fine but know next to nothing about wiring.

@@FordBossMe truck ran out of warranty for lead frame last year unfortunately. I’m thinking it can’t be the lead frame because of the fact that all of the other warnings come on, no communication with ECU, and there is no mileage, it’s just lines there. That should be a wiring issue, no? The most promising video of yours is the one where you clean/repair all of the ground wires. Will be trying that out today. Would just hate to change lead frame and have it not be that.

Roll the window down reach to the outside of the vehicle and then open the door from the outside handle and then roll the window back up

It doesn't just get short, if that's the case it needs replaced or something on the cable is stuck pulled in somewhere

This could be a serious safety issue .. should be a recall in my view
