Im a 64 year old CIS male and I have no idea why your videos popped up on my feed - but this is the 4th one I've watched and I just want to say you're an amazing person. You are so freakin' brave and together given everything - more than most who don't have your adjustments to deal with. I know you will survive and thrive - best of luck and have an amazing life!

This was really informative and helpful for partners of trans people who want to support their SOs through surgery and transitioning, thank you so much and I hope recovery goes well for you! ❤️

Not sure where she is considering for surgery. But for most it is not too bad. Typically in the uk, 1 week in hospital. Surgery on the first day, with a few days bed rest. 5 days later, catheter out and allowed out of bed, and dilating starts (3 times a day). 2 days later sent home. 2 weeks at home before being allowed out. Another week until allowed to drive. Dilating 3 times a day for 8 weeks, slowly reducing until once a week. Pain minimal. Far less than you would expect. Paracetamol was all that was required after a couple of days. Worst part with some surgeons was 3 days of a “clear liquid diet”.

I can’t remember if she said anything about going to the bathroom on her own after. I can imagine both peeing and pooping would be incredibly uncomfortable experiences plus you’re trying to keep that area constantly clean and free of bacteria because you quite literally have open wounds down there. Every aspect of this type of transition and healing has got to be one of the most difficult things a person could go through and I will never understand how anyone could think a person would go through it for attention or as part of a “phase”. If she does read this comment, I’m so happy you’ve got such a wonderful supportive partner and I wish you nothing but the best and a smooth recovery.

Congratulations on the success of your surgery. As an "old fart", I've had numerous operations, so your descriptions of the pain, discomfort, annoyance of the hospital food and general reactions to the surgery seem to me to be spot on. Hospital food has improved dramatically over the past 50 years; one of my meals when I was young was cold meatloaf and mushy peas! Your boyfriend deserves a big "thank you" for his attention to your well being. Stay safe, stay sane and enjoy life. My hope is that you continue to do well and have a long and loving life. namaste, Roger

Its interesting how we all react differently to the surgery. I was operated on the 14th August and had little pain. But when it came to dilation....horrendous! I remember waking up in the middle of the night a few days after going home and bursting into tears because of the thought of having to continue with dilation with unbearable pain..... but now I'm ok and glad its no longer painful. Good luck and well done xxx

The way you talked about how you feel post surgically about the most private parts and loss of inhibition, I couldn't help but notice the entire experience sounds almost EXACTLY like what childbirth is like. The epidural, having everyone seeing your private parts, the sitz baths...they offered me a mirror when the baby was coming out, I chuckled knowing the exact feeling you had when they removed the packing and asked if you wanted to see it...same feeling, the soreness, hunching, feeling of stitches pulling...the catheter because of the swollen urethra, I mean, girl, you just experienced the birth of a new human, instead of it being an infant it was your true self...I understand the differences but couldn't help but notice the parellels!

I love this explanation of the realism of your surgery. I had to get a surgery down there myself and it wasnt for gender reassignment, it was for a pathology or medical issue that developed. It is traumatic getting surgery there, especially when things become changed in appearance and in functionality. I could really relate to this vlog. I thought Maya was so brave to be real about this and it is very high maintenance to get that part of the body to recover. It seems really unfair that some people do not feel they are born into the right body. I am ready for a new different body myself, but I think lots of people can be unhappy inside their body, its not just a gender thing. So to be compassionate for those who are not happy in their body, to honor in your case the difficulty of what you have been through to find your inner peace. This is how to be a supportive human. Bless you dear Maya

Chelsea. Wow - after researching bamboo silica vitamins for skin hair and nails - I want to use this for myself as a normal part of the rest of my life - not only for my skin health but also to help with the problem I have been having with hair breaking when brushing my hair. I just have wanted my hair long ever since I was a teenager. So now at over 60+ and at 9-Months 20-Days on Hormones -- and 1-Year 4-Months 7-Days of living full-time authentically -- and having already been growing my hair long for years -- for me this is really an emotional thing because of how much I love my long hair. Then too with my nails included -- you have really touched my heart. Thank-You can never tell you how much I deeply appreciate learning about Bamboo Silica Vitamins for skin, hair and nails. From the depth of my heart -- Thank-You, Love, Daisy Rose
