It's funny how deer scent companies fool people to buy their products to be successful during season. I was fooled for a couple years till I started watching these videos and now my scrapes are more active without scent then with scent. Thank you so much Jeff for your advise. Saves me a bunch of money.

Hey Jeff, you've completely changed and verified my view on mock/natural scrapes going foward. 2 deer seasons ago I was set up about 70 yards below 2 natural scrapes that were on the edge of an old logging road. That morning I had 3 bucks each bigger than the previous hit only the 1 scrape which had a natural vine about 5 feet off the ground. Each buck kept going on their back legs and rubbing their head on it and neither of them actually pawed the ground. Definitely not going to waste any more $ on expensive doe/buck urine and instead put up some vine mock scrapes instead. Ty Jeff and gl in the woods this fall!

Great observation on him, moving his rack around the vine. It makes sense a big buck would do that to protect their recent marking, but most wouldn’t notice that, myself included. Pay attention to details, they tell a story all the time. Cool stuff Jeff.

Couldn't agree more. Tried these types of MS out for the very first time last year, in Canada NB, and had quite a few different Does/Fawns come visit and CHECK who had been through the area and left their own scent. Only had one yearling buck check it, but that I believe has more to do with low Buck numbers because of a stupid Bucks Only law that's been around in this province now for over 25 years !

Would you know why that is. Also why dont you have cell cameras on the scrapes so you dont have to go there and pull the card. To take the chance of leaving your scent.

You mention that most of these mock scrape videos, people ask “where should I place my mock scrape?” I am hunting a rock pile tree in the middle of a field. There are travel corridors through the grass that I have mowed for years. Should I bury power line poles in the field to hang a mock scrape? I have a couple big loads of them, but I’m worried they will scare the deer away. Not that they bother the deer that eat my garden surrounded by them!
