It’s always really hot in Jakarta so if you plan on skating in the daytime, look for an indoor or undercover skatepark. This skatepark is built under a flyover and it is in the middle of a really busy road. You need to dodge traffic to get to it, but once you are inside, you close the metal gate and apart from the constant noise of bikes, cars and trucks, you forget where you are.
Also it is good to mention that it is a free skatepark and you will need to catch a rideshare there or a taxi, but that won’t cost you much.
The place is filthy so don’t dress up like the backstreet boys in your white denims, maybe go black. After Jom swept up all the crap from the park, we were good to go.
There are a nice set of mellow ledges on one side of the centre pileon and a couple of weird square rails that no one skated. You can get runup from either end of the skatepark and it is great for doing lines.
There’s a medium sized bowl, probably about 6 foot in the deep end and it has nice coping, the bowl is a little bit tight and hard to ride but they had to squeeze it into the middle of the road so I understand. You can launch from the bowl into the quarters at the back of the skatepark and vice versa.
On the other side are a series of jumps with a large drop-in area to give you enough speed to clear the jumps. The transition was a little funky and you definitely need time getting used to the kick from the transitions.
Lastly we go over to the rail section, this area is littered with lots of little rails that come in all different lengths, shapes and thicknesses. One of the rails is broken at the top and just hanging there, but that didn’t stop Jom from doing a hurricane x grind down it.
There is so much to do at this skatepark and there aren’t many skateparks around this area so I recommend going here for a roll next time you are in Jakarta.
