1 MINUTE of MR2 awesomeness - Toyota MR2 mk1 AW11 in the mountains

This video was entirely conceived, directed, shot and edited by my friends Nermin and Iva of @our pirate life (IG: our_piratel... YT: / @nerminribic7698 )
All I did was show up and pretend to be cool.
In the past I tried shooting a video like this myself but the results were usually underwhelming. When we shot this video I learned why I failed before. I failed because shooting videos like this is incredibly hard. You have to think of the lights, the time of day, the shadows, camera angels, people and cars passing by and ruining shots, and you need an incredible amount of gear and organisation and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Shooting these 55 seconds of video took an entire day at a remote location (Blidinje Nature Park) and tons of footage of which obviously only a fraction was used. I finally understand why the credits of full length and feature films have an army of people in them.
But I'm happy we shot this little film and immortalized my humble Toyota MR2 in it's current bike carb itb guise. There will be many changes to the AW11 in the future so I'm glad I'll always be able to remember it in this form. Although it does look a lot better in the video than it is in reality :) But memories are there to be idealized anyway.

@@inaNis_ people used the v6s from the 3rd and 4th gen camrys - the 3vz-fe/1mz-fe really wake the car up apparently, even more than a turboed 3s

So awesome! I’ve been waiting for this exact video and it was everything I hoped it would be. I hope your MR2 fulfills all the dreams you had for it. I have recently completed an extensive overhaul on my own MR2 Turbo with thousands of dollars of new parts including a turbo upgrade and a ACT HDSS clutch and it is exactly how I thought it would be; my perfect MR2. @@mohammedsalimahmed5230 The mindset of vehicle buyers today: * I don't want to buy a color, the resale value will be lower. Make it gray, silver, black or white please. * I don't want to buy a sedan or wagon or sportscar, no one wants those and I won't be able to get good resale value. * I want to sit up high because everything on the road is so tall today. I feel safer. * I want a big vehicle so I will be safer in an accident. That's about it. It's a self-feeding mental mechanism. Buy vehicles for the "other" buyers and resale. Trouble is, when the majority buyer buys for resale and what they think buyers will want, there isn't actually anyone in society (at least on a majority scale) that fits this hypothetical resale buyer. So everyone ends up buying what they think is more appealing at sale, rather than what they WANT to drive on a daily basis. It slides to lowest common denominator. Was this a chicken or egg issue? Did people start wanting nothing but big boxes with numb suspension and transmissions, or was that projected by marketing? Either way, the snowball has gotten big.

Roadtrip to Le Mans to see Toyota compete, August 21-22. They've won it the last 3 years!!!! Bosnia to Le Mans, France - 20 hrs. Great stops along the way, Salzburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Paris. Can't see you doing that to your baby, maybe for your next car. Make you appreciate Le Mans when you have to drive 24hrs there and another back. Done it, ohhhh I think about 15 times in America.

had 2 consecutive SW22s and I really liked them. Don`t think they were dangerous at all but some claim, that it´s cause, I never really took it 2 the limit

Please test on dyno different intakes for 4afe,if possible, make a custom 421 intake since it is a thing we don't see at all
My wonderful mk1 MR2 was easily the second best car I have ever owned. Such a capable, fun package which could leave much more powerful, newer cars for dead on a circuit or on a mountain pass. Second best? I know own a Porsche 911

When I was a kid I thought the AW11 was a "small Ferrari" Because it kinda has that 80's Ferrari shape. Except it gets better fuel economy & is an acceptable daily driver! Parts are SUUUUPER cheap haha.

I loved the MR2 since it came out, although the teensy engine always bugged me. Still, it was small and light enough to be a brisk, fun drive. But I always wished Toyota would've come out with like a Group B rally-version of the car, with at least, say, 350HP. Anyway, the car looks great to me to this day and if I could find one that the owner didn't want $20K for, I'd love to have one.
Man, I had one of these MR2s between 2002-2005 and to this day I think that was my most favourite of all the cars I've owned. Mine was an '86, yours is a little newer from the looks of it, maybe an '87?

DAMN IT ! My computer must be broken. The video ended before any of that MR2 "Awesomeness" arrived. Can you give me a hint as to what happened ? Did a naked SuperModel jump out ? Wait .. the license plate folded down to reveal a Jet engine ? or did wings pop out and it went TopGun "Vertical" ?
