1 Minute Film: Doorways
Locked down, digging through the unused old stuff! 6 years ago, some miles south of Fort Nelson, British Columbia, we ran into some rain/snow showers that were...just right. Not too oppressive, but beautiful and fun to weave around, like a valley of waterfalls. We ended up on the deck following a broken-up Prophet River into our destination.
I found this footage the other day while reviewing some old hard drives, and was reminded what a fun flight this was. It's a low effort video, but I have so much older, unused footage that it might as well be made into something while I work on the forthcoming long film.

I'm not sure this can be considered "back" but it feels good to upload something. I like to try to boil the ocean, so I'm working on a new long film. Takes FOREVER.

There's nothing I want to work on more, but between a full time job in another industry, covid, a young family, and moving across the country, it has taken a back seat. I have so much footage in the can but for me the editing is a long process. Don't worry, we'll be back!

Great,but (there is always some guy with a “but”) the music drowned out the sound of the engine. It’s just me. Keep it up. If the FAA ever gets their head out of their collective asses I’ll be back up there too.

Ha! Normally I agree, Willy, when people use SAIL or some free license techo, but in this case more time was spent writing and recording the music for this edit than the actual edit. I was thinking of you specifically as I mixed and EQ'd the audio levels of the inconsistent poor quality engine and wind noise from the 2013 GoPro, and how you'd THINK you don't like it, even while not realizing the emotional manipulation I'm perpetrating on you with the score. In fact I think of this more as crappy footage music video for this song. Let me know if you'd like me to emotionally manipulate anyone in particular at the FAA. :)

Backcountry Pilot now U R making me feel bad. Right now the medical folks in OK City have been jerking me around, but I finally got someone on the phone who was helpful. I might have my medical back by the end of the month. If I do, I’ve already located a J-3 I’m going to get checked out in. Keep the greasy side down.
