What a absolutely great time this was! I hope I can FINALLY settle the debate surrounding the 'Kids' Marketed art supplies. We are no longer in a time where Professional markers are Expensive and Exclusive.
There are alternatives and my job is now to show you all what's out there and what decisions we can make to help the next generation of Artists.

Hey Everyone, I hope you enjoy the video - Just a quick note, there was around 6 minutes of video cut out of this where I expanded on my opinions regarding the "Kids" markers. I will likely make a follow up dedicated to this instead, and provide you with alternative recommendations. I also cut out myself singing "Peaches"

i should go with 100 crayola markers and colors of the world markers instead XD for the kid side . the other side look nice for the artist side
Matching an alcohol marker against a water-based one looks a little bit unfair, but i laughed so hard 😂

Very unfair inreed. And zoek kids Linda tuin expensive markers, so IT s Just nog a thing to five kids. Tevens might be a different case...
By far the best 'kids' markers I've used are Crayola Supertips, I'd love to see you comparing those. I love my alcohol markers, but I can use the Supertips in colouring books and get a decent blend with them, especially on smoother papers!

Using something like a Pentel Aquabrush as a blender for Crayola markers makes them work even better! I’ve gotten honestly professional grade results with them that way

Mmmmmm idk, I always liked how exact they could be but found them a bit cumbersome for me personally. The ones I use are connector pens and I have a bunch of Dong-a ones that were sold as a 2 in 1 for each one

I mean, of course I'm not picking the cheap side this time. But it is still fun to see you make very passable art with subpar materials. And I think it is a very nice showcase, both of what a skilled artist can do with any material, and the kind of elevation that you can expect to see when giving professional tools to a skilled artist. This is potentially a great video for parents with young but talented kids looking to make the first jump from schoolhouse markers to artist materials.
You did a great job with the cheap water base pens. It's unfair to compare the two. If you had kids and watched them color, you'd understand why cheap markers are the way to go. 😂 Thanks for sharing. Look forward to the next one.

True I agree it's for kids 1-11 though I wished our parents also bought watercolor paper for those type of cheap markers
I wish a company would make a decent non-toxic marker set for kids. My kids are in this awkward stage where I’d love to give them better supplies than Crayola but they’re not quite trustworthy with alcohol markers yet. I’ve debated trying some of the ohuhu water based ones for them, but I’d love to see a company actually tap into the kid safe but quality supplies market.
You managed to make Peach look decent with the cheap markers.
It’s weird that the Ohuhu markers are better looking because of it’s softer blends and tones. Although, I find I like the hair better on the cheap side because it looks brighter and punchy. A weird thing to see because I like different things from each side. Great video👍🏽

Well kids markers are always brighter and also watercolor is brighter
Yessss. You've saved this Dad a small fortune 😅 Great vid as per buddy 😊
It always makes my day when I see you have posted another video. Love, love your sense of humor. Using those horrible kid’s Bic markers. You must have had a moment of self punishment for this one. 😂
I think for kids 4-10 years old, its worth the cheap ones to let them just color. When they are older say 13-15 and want to advance in thier art, then I'd invest in the better quality markers. As a teenager i used a lot of cheap supplies but it worked while i was learning. Now i have ohuhu markers and my art looks a whole lot better than when i used cheap dollar store markers and pencils. As usual I'd say ohuhu is a win and I love this cheap vs expensive. Peach is so cute.
Very good Comparison! I really do think that OHUHU takes the win against the other art supplies. You have inspired me so much ADCArtAttack and enhanced my art skills. I’ve learned so much from you as you motivate me☺️
You can't go wrong with Ohuhu. I got the 72 colour bullet nib set a few years ago and I added the skin tones last year.
Honestly, water based markers are fun to use in sketchbooks. They are great when you wanna play around with more blocks of color over blending. I think both are good to have-BUT really SuperTip style water-based markers (like Crayola and even Cra-Z-Art) are better since they can lay down a good chunk of color without destroying the paper. They're also a great tool to use to play with color combinations-getting the saturated colors to pop against one another-a great way to learn and try out colors for a lot of things. All in all those water-based markers can be good to help in thumbnailing color layout with their vibrancy. This can actually really help in the alcohol marker work through that.
ADC your skills make all arts supplies look amazing
I knew that the Ohuhu Markers would win this battle! But tbh, the kids markers at first watercolors were a little bad but did have, not too bad results. And that's crazy to see something new and challenging, which is... Transferring a digital drawing to paper by taping a sheet of paper to the art tablet and adding the library just like that
Hey hey, love your channel man and your work. Would love love love to see you do more original art (characters from your imagination), even when it’s expensive vs cheap and it has to be even. 🤘🏼
Still looks good but I agree with you. I grew up asking for art supplies for my birthday and the holidays and every time someone got me a set of cheap markers either thinking they were the same or didn’t care and wanted the cheapest because I was a kid so they didn’t take me seriously. Those things dried out so quickly and just went to waste. 😢
For the overall finish, I certainly liked the Ohuhu side better. BUUUTTT...I did like the bumped up contrast in the hair, and jewels on the Bic side. This is obviously not due to the markers themselves, but the selection of colors you had available.
It depends on how old the child. The younger child will add extra pressure to a marker than and older child. That added pressure will break down the nib.
I love this new series!! Can't wait to see the next video. This series is going to be so helpful and save people money.
You really need to try using a Pentel Aquabrush with water based markers! Using the waterbrush as a colorless blender for water based markers makes them work so much better
The fact is, you make all supplies look good because of your talent. However, it is safe to say, at least for me, you put Ohuhu on the map! I love those markers! Fantastic video by the way. I have been watching you for awhile and would like to give you some much deserved props for your progression as a content creator! Love watching!
I think the point of kids markers are that they are both safe for kids, don't stain, look fun, and won't hurt your soul when your kid inevitably loses or destroys them. I don't disagree that the kids ones are not made for a serious artist, but they're perfect for younger children who like to doodle. I also think the price difference is a bit downplayed; it's a 2,000% price increase for the nicer ones. And for many, $20 is a lot more money than $1. That said, I did enjoy the video and I think this series is fun!
So excited to watch this video!!! I love your videos
Great vid ADC, really enjoy the content 👍🔥
ADC, I *finally* got myself some Ohuhu markers and WOW… these things are amazing. I’ve never used alcohol markers on my drawings before and I’m blown away by how good they look. Thank you so much for introducing me to these markers!
I always love your videos. You are a great artist and your humour is lovely.
Ohuhu is still so much worth it, the bic markers surprisingly looked pretty nice and tbh could still be pretty useful for kids to use
I’m a sketch artist but I enjoy these videos so much
As a teacher, I have to say the cheap sets are great for school poster projects for titles and basic diagrams etc. Having said that, if the child wants to create art, the more expensive ones are a better choice.
I love all your traditional work and it’s kept me on the traditional track myself but a digital vs traditional video would be really cool
Hullo Anthony, I remember when my Gran asked me if I wanted to really paint pictures? (I was 10 years old) She set my first palette up with professional grade watercolors, Grumbacher was the brand and is still a wonderful paint! I will say it is harder to get as it is no longer carried by any local stores! It seems like everything is ordered online these days. Thanks for showing what some of the cheaper tools can do and there are reasons why very inexpensive art supplies exist, as not everyone is going to want to make artworks, but just occupy the time of toddlers er, children. Most accomplished Artists can use any medium to create Art it is their knowledge that makes the difference NOT the medium or tool. If I were going to buy my marker sets I would definitely consider going Ohuhu! Quality has caught up with their price and they are no longer bottom rung supplies!
haha, love you man, you're so funny! Crayola Supertips next??

I’m impressed with how well you hid the streaks with the water based markers. 🎉

i like the ohuhu one, but i actually also like how you colored the right side too. i think you did an amazing job.
Nice u my fav art utuber
Thanks for your videos we have enjoyed y watching a lot of them. I like the peach video. We would love to see more Mario and Pokémon characters. We like the cheaper verses expensive videos. Especially when it’s a kid friendly topic that our whole family can enjoy together. Thanks
I love those ohulu markers i bought after you did the first video on then. I needed a cheaper alternative to my copics for some of my art work. But i love watching all you videos, it reminds me that art is still fun and helps me push from being an amateur artist to hopefully a pro. Thank you and keep making videos

Do the Ohuhu last a long time? I've heard sometimes they send you dried-out ones (at least that's what a few friends told me). The new package looks nice, similar to Copics but that also adds to the price I imagine.

The quality difference is definitely stark. I will say, the cheap side still came out really good, kinda reminds me of older 80's and 90's anime styles. Kinda like Sailor Moon, or Cardcaptor Sakura. You still made it work well
You should now do a whole colored pencil series, cheap vs. the most expensive, love the art as always and that Bic side, oh my, your right parents shouldn't buy their children cheap just get them some decent stuff to start.
Great video, as always! I've learned a lot watching you color your drawings with pencils (I have the Polychromos) and markers. Question: What are your opinions on Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen Brushes (markers)? I think I haven't seen a "Which is Worth it?" video with Pitt pens.
I love your art so much your the best artist iv seen on youtube and my fav youtuber artist keep up the good work, and could your next vid be drawing rick from rick and morty in ten different styles.
A new video from you always brightens my day=3 Thank you! Well...regarding kids' art supplies. These days on FB there are tons of ads and sellers, offering cheap alcohol markers for kids. They often just classify them as felt-tip pens, without any indication that these are, actually, alcohol-based. Dirt cheap ones, which you can also get from wish and ali. Bought a set to try, They have a very strong smell I can't stand at all. The quality is also terrible. I dunno what to do with my set. Tons of satisfied comments though. Welp, they tried?=D In that case I'd still buy water-based markers. Safer that way. I also use them for watercolor-y sketches.
I don't follow your twitch much since your usually live when I'm asleep I think this is the first time I've seen your PC nice rig bro
Love to see a cheap vs expensive drawing but on the artist side. Your casual colouring vs your colouring as paid professional 😅
Hahaha so nicce drawing loved it
For them waterbased to be such a headache, you actually pulled out the beauty in em.
those Ohuhu, just... yeah, I love them... someday I will have to learn to use brush nibs.
Impressed with what you managed to do with the cheep markers.
One thing I always find out about cheap markers is that they are good for cell-shading approach, but only cell-shading. Any other blending styles always seems like it don't exist. It's always hard to work with, & most of them always damage your paper / canvas.
@softsage112
6 ай бұрын
What’s cell shading is that like shading without blending
What you did with a pack of kids' markers is pretty impressive. I'm still buying the cheap ones for my niece for a while, though.
Great job.. and from far away the kids marker doesn't look to bad.. lol 😂
I am biased and would go with Ohuhu. I find them to be the best markers I have ever used-even more than Prisma AND EVEN MORE THAN COPIC.
I would argue there's a middle ground between pro and kids supplies. My choice would be an ohuhus older sets or or one of the cheaper alcohol markers to start 🤔 Ps I need that set of ohuhu markers 😂❤
Love the video, I did prefer the ohuhu markers! But could u make the crayola side better using pencils ✏️ and or other markers? I'd love to see that!
The Ohuhu markers are so awesome :D I Hope there will be a set with the new broad nib and a brush nib, soon :D As a Kid I had Stabilo Pen 68 Markers. In my memories they were really good and it would be cool to see them in a cheap vs. expensive comparison :D
The cheap side looks more stylized and I like your work on her face on that side too. Definitely not better, but with merits. Probably the artist.
I would love for you to upload just one stream for people like me whose internet is terrible and can't watch your livestream. Just one where you do a drawing, start to finish that includes skin tones! I learn a lot by watching you but I can't ever watch you at home where I can draw too. Just one, that's all I'm asking for lol
Here's the thing, talent goes a long way. That is why anything, any product, any medium, ADC will make it look like it is expensive even though using cheap medium.
As a mom of three I'd say it depends on the age of the child. Small kids will leave markers open to dry or push too hard and ruin them. But if an older child wants to create art then you might want to invest.
Good time's nicely done
I'd love to see some more style swaps
I wonder if some colorless blender marker could have helped the BIC Markers out and make them looking a bit more smooth on paper. Not sure what it is with felt tip markers but a lot of them seem to peel the paper. E.g Sharpies do too
Can you compare cheap waterbased Markers with expensive waterbased Markers. I think, that could be interesting, too.
Would love to see more Sonic content!
I...honestly have this to say about cheaper art supplies. THE MORE COLORS YOU GET THE BETTER. I was saving for connector pens cus for nostalgia purposes but also because the 20 and 30 packs didnt even have a peach color to work with, it was in the freaking 60 pack. So having more color options on water based markers is very much required. I've seen your other water based marker videos and I'll always prefer the cheaper ones due to their cartoony and dynamic feel. HOWEVER, the expensive ones look more natural and to me is ok albeit a bit..dull if that makes sense. I prefer cheap over expensive but tbh, just use what you have and work around it. Like what Uniqua said in that one backyardigans episode, its not about the board, its about the skater u3u
Please bring back the 10 styles challenge it is my favorite series!!
The way kids colour is way different than an adult will do. One of the reasons why I do buy children’s markers is because they are washable. With how carefully kids can be, that’s a very big plus. But maybe next time compare a waterbased marker like a Tombow Dual Brush pen against Crayola supertips.
The blending is obviously better with the Ohuhu but with your talent the kids markers look good.
I love your videos I wanna be like you when I’m older
I'd say if you are buying for kids maybe get them the cheap ones first and if they treat the pens right, as in not destroying them, then you can buy the better ones. 🙂
The thing is, with markers and stuff, the cheap ones are good enough. Most kids are not gonna be that artistic. And it doesnt make too much sense to hand every kid expensive alcohol markers. Let them play around with water based markers and see how they use them and level up as per the child's complaints. Worked for me. I used to rub the water based markers on butter paper and mix that with water and put down a base layer and them make details with color pencils. So the next thing my parents did was buy me some water colors and I expanded in that direction. Then I bought inks and then alcohol inks. I still havent really used alcohol markers. because they be pricey. They tend to dry out and I wanna buy a big-ish batch for when I have some breathing room to be able to draw everyday. Not to mention the pricier things always put me under stress making me feel like I need to use them perfectly, not waste anything and everything better turn out perfect. Always a limiting issue. With cheaper products, all that pressure is off and we can experiment however we like. for kids even a marker per dollar can seem very expensive. plus, I do believe working with "bad" art supplies is a skill everyone should have.
Hi at ADC love your videos as I always do. Where can I access these ohuhu markers that you have?
I would love to see a kingdom hearts drawing/painting from you!
I would like to see you do a video comparing watercolor pencils to dewert inktense pencils
I personally have had really good luck with crayola water based markers--hear me out-- on * water colour paper. * It worked unbelievably well - near alcohol marker blending. And the only thing I changed was the paper.
Hey ADC, what do you use to do your line work? I’ve been using a black ultra fine tip Sharpie and the line work isn’t as clean as I would like 😩 (Im just getting back into drawing again)
I got so many notifications on the subject of Mario 😂
Maybe a better comparison would be the Ohuhu water-based markers against these? I know you probably don't have the set, but it might be fun to see how their water-based set stack up against the Crayola?? Also because most parents will probably lean away from giving theirs little ones alcohol based markers lol. Loved the video as always! 💗🍑
the skin tone on the kids markers side is actually decent
Have you thought about trying the Amazon Basic range of art supplies and comparing them to a more expensive brand?
I'm the guilty person who likes using childeren's water based markers. I'm a watercolour artist, and one thing I like to do is lay down a base was and go over it with water based markers, which I can blend out with a damp brush. I feel like It gives me a little more control, rather than doing all the details in watercolour, which is very volitile. Granted, I've never actually used alcohol markers.
Even though it's not the best looking it still looks good
I'd say bugin with the cheaper markers first and then once you or/and your kids are confident and comfortable with drawing then switch to using the slightly more expensive markers. Yes there's a dramatic difference between the two sides but the cheaper side isn't that bad.
Can you make a video on combining two separate brands alcohol marker and look if they work together? Like base color copic and blending ontop with ohuhu?
Despite how trash they were i kinda liked how harsh the coloring was on the bic markers for the dress atleast.... other than that left side all the way. Nice job :D
ohuhu do have water based markers too, maybe use them against another water based marker.
The video has a point and merit. Would I give good markers at a bigger price this to small child that just wants color, no. A child the aspiring to be a better artist and attempting to add shadows and correct color choices and blends, yes.
I'm also a big Ohuhu fan 💜
Hello from Bakersfield California
Can you please make and color someone from the live action Titans?? My personal favourites are Raven, Beast Boy and Starfire
Water based marker (children) are the worst but you always make from a terrible art supply something magic ! Thank you
The Bic side reminds me of a freeze frame from DBZ or something. Definitely prefer the higher quality but the cheaper side has a place somewhere I’m sure
I know it's still not ideal for the Bic markers, but I wonder if they'd possibly blend decently with a water brush?
I’m curious, could you do another comparison with Crayola. They are also supposedly a kids brand and a cheaper alternative. But I’ve heard actually a lot of good stuff about their products. How do they compare to Ohuhu?
I like to watch this channel to remind myself that I still can't bring out the full potential of my alcohol marker set. (Ohuhu) Keeps me hungry
That’s the thing, kids are very different then a professional artist. So of course I will go with Children markers for children.
