HOW TO HOLD THE AGOGÔ BELLS AND SOME GREAT TIPS - SHORT HISTORY OF INSTRUMENTS AFRICA/BRAZIL
The #agogo bells are bells connected with a metal handle.
Typically you see it with 2 bells, but you also can find with 3, 4 or even 5.
Here you will learn a short #history about this instrument, how to hold it and some tips.
You can use it in samba, maracatu, funk, capoeira, ijexa, rock, pop, candomblé, or adapt it to other styles of music.
From the African Continent to Brazil and world.
Enjoy practicing and playing in a batucada or other type of band.

///// My name is Emiliano Benevides and I play all kinds of percussion. /////
I grew up listening to Brazilian music (sambas, funk, rock, pagodes) like Bezerra da Silva, Zeca Pagodinho, Secos e Molhados, Clube da Esquina, Titãs, Chico Buarque, Ratos de Porão, Banda Black Rio, Samba Schools... and also international artists like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bauhaus, Tom Waits, Nick Cave to name a few.
I had the pleasure to win the CALIFORNIA MUSIC AWARD for Outstanding Latin Alternative Album and the SF WEEKLY MUSIC AWARD for Best World Music in the Bay Area with my band Bat Makumba.
Right now I live in Switzerland and I am composing and playing with Custard Pie Power Funk, a band from the Border Triangle area of France, Switzerland and Germany.

This is great! Do you know the brand that makes the two sets you show here? Are they bronze or steel?

Hello Chris and sorry that I took so long to write you back. The brand of the one I am playing in my hand is from Sonor (steel). The one with the holder, I don't remember the brand. It was a gift from an old friend, and there is no brand on it. I do use the LP 571 Agogo Bell Holder with it, so I can have one hand free to play others instruments. Please let me know if you have any other question. All the best.
