XJR14 was a stunning car with performance to match, but XJR6 was the car that brought optimism when I first saw it in the flesh at Silverstone in '86 for it's maiden win.

@@streetfighter4006 I started racing in the 1970s, No BOP, No gimmicks, No energy recovery, No muffled exhausts. Just pure performance which is the vintage racing that Goodwood celebrates... YMMV

In 1989 in Tampa Florida i got to see all these cars and they raced against IMSA GTP at a fairgrounds closed course that was small and tight. The Andrettis raced. It was pretty much the most freakishly rare awesome thing that ever happened in motorsports, if you ask me. The IMSA GTP Nissans (Geoff Brabham) were basicslly untouchable that day.

The Sauber Mercedes is one of my all time favourite looking race cars... But then, all Group C cars look amazing!

Wonderful to have events like this and others where these cars can run so everyone can enjoy them many years later from their racing days.

The 905 will always and always be my dream car!

Save your money and the crowds - go to the full Revival meeting instead. No comparison. None. I'm 68 and with the exception of the early Group C cars running at Le Mans, the Revival beats everything else - hands down

I love these cars so much, I scour the net for pure race sounds. So when I see the title and watch the first 5 minutes, I'm overwhelmed with joy.

My favorite era EVER! So many great memories from the 80s and 90s. Thank you for posting this!

Best video on KZread. You can instantly see why Group C is loved by millions of fans. The cars are so beautiful and they sound and handle so well. Some of those drivers eventually start going pretty quick around the narrow Goodwood track. FairPlay. Loved this video from start to finish. Thankyou Goodwood. Regards Tom.

What a great start for Michael Schumacher, starts 1988 in F3, the Sauber Mercedes C in 1990 and finally F1-debut in 1991 on the Jordan, 1992 fisrt race win, 1994 first world champion title and 2004 he was the 1st in history to complete the 7th title in F1!!

Holy crap amazing lineup

Back in the 80s there was a Racing Shop called Chassis Dynamics. In The small town of Wolcott Ct.... i remember seeing the Silk Cut #22 there for a brief period of time. Lime Rock Park is about 60 minutes from Wolcott... i think i saw #22 4 or 5 times in passing. Ill never forget it. Ty Goodwood

About 30 years before, attractive Group C era was discontinued is very unfortunate despite still very popular.

It was actually losing in popularity. Group C had become almost as expensive as Formula 1 while having far fewer races. That meant less publicity for sponsors and so teams like Sauber defected. Because of this the number of teams competing declined and the audiences declined too.

would be nice if there was a button to mute the commentators. although they know alot about the old school drivers, my brain was clicking when they mentioned Vern Schuppan, Phillip Alliot etc

As they alluded to in the first few seconds, it sounds like it couldn't start? They mention rotor seals/apex seals. So that's what I'm thinking.

The rotor seals disintegrated and the motor lost compression. Couldn't rebuild the motor in time to start
