#1 - Garrard 301 - Making a turntable

"The Turntable Garrard 301 may be one of the most iconic and spectacular ever created in the world of hi-fi. Developed by W. Edmund Mortimer he was sold by Garrard in the period between the years 1953 to 1965 (yes, I did not write wrong).
It was a revolution for its time and the most incredible is to see that almost 70 years after its creation it still can and should be regarded as a beautiful Turntable.
The Garrard 301 was the first turntable history to handle speeds ⅓ 33, 45 and 78 rpm. Very robust, minimalist and extremely well built he had a Garrard induction motor of four poles.
The chassis and the plate were made of cast aluminum and the plate is freely rotated in a precision bearing. Some models were with oil and other grease. Curious to imagine that it was usually sold without the cabinet and arm.

A Google search for ""Garrard 301"" will confirm the strength that Turntables still has, even with beautiful designs offices with which I intend to join in developing this work.
My project
It was a different work than I usually do, but as wood and audio involves, could not deny ... I thought it would be relatively simple, but it was not so because of some details which I quote below.
First we did not find any images to truly reliable internet and ""usable"" to the cutting plane, this created me an issue of great to have to redo from scratch, all 3D so that it could generate a vector file and with that power cut precisely in the CNC.
Draw that format so that it could generate a recess for perfect fit was possibly the most annoying part of the whole work.
The calculations so that it could implement the right way arm also surprised me, he imagined, would just put his arm without much mathematics. LOL

The new ""plinth"" was done all in solid mahogany and how to deal with hardwood always has its risks, I chose to play a ""skirt"" painted black high gloss, giving an aesthetic value that I liked a lot.
Painting is never simple, varnish in high gloss also .. but not part of the process and also learning and this is the best of all the journey.

Maravilha de atividade. Isso é só "hobbY"? Estou impressionado. Tenho um Gradiente DD1 parado desde o final do século passado. Deu uma saudade de reativá-lo. Mas não tenho essas habilidades. Parabéns e espero ancioso a segunda parte.

Porque esse toca discos (Garrard 301) é tão renomado? Eu sempre aprendi que toca discos de polia são ruins por transmitirem ruído do motor; mas sempre vi esse modelo tido como high end, o que ele tem de especial?

Essa verdade acaba esbarrando em uma questão curiosa: Se não for um bom de polia, qual seria o bom sem polia? Tirando alguns para DJ, fica complicado... outro detalhe curioso é que no mundo verdadeiramente "high-end" a grande maioria usa polia e ao final, talvez tenhamos a conclusão mais simples de todas. De que existe bons e ruins, independente do tipo... rs

Eu mesmo, na verdade faço todo o projeto, execução e depois a parte de fotografia e edição dos videos.. aliás, por isso que não consigo postar tantos vídeos quanto gostaria e/ou tenho aqui na espera.

@@ReDiy Boa noite. Primeiramente parabéns. Cheguei até o vídeo porque estou querendo fazer algo similar. Tenho um Garrad 6300 e quero dazer um gabinete legal pra ele. O problema é que não tenho maquinário e nem experiência prática. Aí estou à procura de alguém que faça a carcaça. O acabamento e colocação das peças eu faria. Tem interesse?
