First off, Thanks for the educational info all around! I made one of your mock scrapes and deer hit it the same night! All my friends ask what I put on to attract them and it’s the most fun telling them, “nothing”! I believe the 9 point on my wall is a product of practicing what you’re preaching. Thanks again!

Mock scrape and water hole 🕳 is a must for habitat improvement. I did it last year on my 34 acres. I’ll never pay for deer piss again haha. Every deer on my property hit those vines and drink out of that water hole.

I was thinking, and what would be cool and helpful👍 You should if you don't already, make a video of the process you go threw with a client that has an average size property. Like 40-80 acres in size. That way it would show kinda a before and after kinda thing. Giving us an idea of what something maybe not so great can be turned into. I don't know about everyone else but, I could be given the most detailed instructions on something, yet I would get more out of a picture relating to that same topic. If that makes sense haha

Jeff, started using mock scrapes/hanging vines a few years ago when I first started following you here. I have one at almost every stand, and it’s a great tool to get an idea of all the deer in the herd. Most does hit it every day, and bucks several times a week. And what a difference hanging the cameras high, against a tree that is twice as wide as the camera. Have a great new year, Jeff.

Started your mock scrapes two years ago, deer all hit it. The thing that is pretty cool is all the other wildlife. Everything hits it, bears, bobcats, grouse and owls hanging on it. Fishers hit them the most, the wolves stop but seem hesitant to walk up and stick there nose in. Pretty Cool! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge.

Well this is the first comment I’ve EVER made on KZread since I usually just watch on my TV. I’m hoping to get lots of Fred back & people telling me I’m wrong. I love the info & videos - but I’m not sure if any of it will really be hugely productive for me - I hunt in Virginia. Myself and a couple of other guys lease about 600 acres , and here’s my issue - hunt clubs run dogs all around us every year ( since it legal here to run deer with dogs ). I feel like as soon as bow season ends and the rut is kicking in here , that our deer are so spooked from the human & dog activity that they must turn 99.999 percent nocturnal. The land is open crop fields as well as woodlands , and one large swamp dividing properties.

@Number 1 Fan I agree his methods work & I love learning from the videos , but your in PA , and in Virginia they still allow dogs for hunting deer , so as soon as gun season opens there will be literally packs of dogs running through the woods , and idiots in their trucks driving through the fields honking their horns to gather up their dogs. It really ruins it for hunters who don’t “ run deer hounds “.

Little off topic. Bought new parcel (small 10 acre). Neighbors 2 dogs have had the run of it for several years. I’ve seen lots of rubs and one small doe family but the dogs are constantly there. I’ve spoken to him and he doesn’t seem to care. No leash law in county. Suggestions? Sheriff said shoot them btw. That’s last resort. Unless they charge my daughter.

Early season had bucks hitting the vine. I have hanging. The bucks that was hitting it. Died from EHD. And nothing hitting it anymore. Also I have a mock scrape at 2 other spots. I seen deer look at it and walk right by it. And not hit it. But they will hit a holly branch 10 yards from it. I cut it down. Hopefully they would hit the vine. But they are not Hitting the vine. Don't know if they don't like the vine. Was thinking about changing it to another type of branch. Don't know why there not Hitting it. Seems like a great spot. Flat ground. Cleared the ground under it about a 3 foot circle.

I shot a buck during bow season and used a stick rubbed on the head to start a new scrap right after he was shot, It seemed to give the new scrape a jump start going into the gun season. The new one was far enough away that the would have never been to the place I put it-- New guy in town sort of, really seemed to fast start the process, am I right ? Your thoughts please.

I have searched your videos for doe bedding area creation and have not found much. Could you put out a video on that? Looking to continue to work on this in a few months…. Creating this area directly off the food plot but was wondering how thick to make this area and with the travel corridors to food plot and behind this area and the depth of the bedding area off the plot…. Luckily I have a large poplars in that doe bedding area so will need to cut those off and should help with food…. Plenty of depth for buck bedding behind that…

Agree. As a new hunter two years ago one of the first of your videos I saw was about mock scrapes. I put several up as recommended and got a ton of videos of big bucks always stopping there. Off the subject but have a question maybe new food plotters want to know.. Way more grreen vegetation than just rye. First season I planted radish. I ate a tillage radish, and it was HOT. Deer ate the leaves but not the radish. Do the deer care? Last season the deer stressed the rye but this season I have lots of green vegetation with the radish at the end of deer season. I have learned alot from your work.
