1 Chronicles 1-29 - The Bible from 30,000 Feet - Skip Heitzig - Flight 1CHR1

The book of 1 Chronicles recounts the lineage of King David as well as God's promise that He would establish His reign on earth through this man after His own heart. As we see how God fulfilled His promises to David, we discover how that presents a witness of His faithfulness to us today.
This teaching is from our series The Bible from 30,000 Feet - 2018 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

August 2021 in Australia. Having read and studied God's Word almost all my 86 years, the overview of the books has expanded my understanding to an exciting degree. Thank you Skip for your delving far more than I ever could. As a widow under Covid lockdown listening to these programs fill much of my days, although I am strong physically to care for my country property.

Incredible. You have a Beautiful gift of teaching. You made this complicated book so easy to follow. So beautifully connecting the dots.. the pieces of Gods story. I just love this so much. Thank you for making it easy to follow. I definitely have better understanding of a quite a few things... As well healing and confirmation came as you moved to the New Testament. Love when God does that. Im so grateful I’m seeing so much more of the Big picture of Gods story.. how he opens it up for us. It’s so exciting. I’m always in Awe of him. Your teaching is Coloring in more of the story.. which fills my heart as well I can better answer questions in a study that I’m doing with a friend who is seeking the Lord. So glad I found your channel. Gods Perfect timing! Can’t wait to dig into other studies here. God Bless.

Thanks Pastor Skip - I'm sure you'll discuss it in your chapter-by-chapter series in future, but chapter 21 contains the puzzling account of God striking Israel with a 3-day pestilence that killed 70,000 men as judgement for David taking a census of the people. Not clear why, but it angered God enough that He killed more men in 3 days than what we lost in the entire Vietnam War! Some say it was because only God was to ask for a census, others that David showed lack of faith in God by counting his army....

What about Jabez's prayer? There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request. 1 Chronicles 4:9‭-‬10 NLT

I Chronocles. "Where were you born?" That reminds me of the song that says, "I was born in East L.A." Of course, this book in the Bible goes deeper emphasizing the line of Judah and the Davidic promise of the Messiah from the line of David.

Maybe when he said a good old age of 70 he died, because isn't it written somewhere in the Bible that the next 10 years are pain? Something along those lines
