Nehemiah 1-13 - The Bible from 30,000 Feet - Skip Heitzig - Flight NEH01

At the end of Ezra, the temple in Jerusalem had been rebuilt and dedicated, but the city walls were still in ruins. After gaining permission from the king of Persia, Nehemiah led a group to repair and rebuild the walls. Though he was met with hostility and conflict, we see how Nehemiah gathered his spiritual strength from God during trialing times.
This teaching is from our series The Bible from 30,000 Feet - 2018 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

@2:23..."Nehemiah...he's my favorite!" This is truly said of me. I've always thought that if, by God's grace, l make it to heaven and meet this man of God, l might be tempted to bow before him. He has *ALWAYS* been an inspiration to me. I have always thrilled reading about his life. Outside of the Bible l have another book on his daring ministry. His most famous statement is on one of my cell phone thumbnails-- *"The joy of the Lord is your strength"* (Nehemiah 8:10).

What an interesting role - an FBI chaplain. We can all relate to Nehemiah as prisoners of war in Satan's world , patiently waiting on Yahweh's deliverance. Thank you the role you played in supporting survivors of the Sept. 11th 2001 tragedy. It can take a lifetime to come to terms with PTS, but your spiritual, intellectual and therapeutic explanation of Scripture is godsend.

I have visited many churches and found surprisingly few that play joyful worship music. The trend today, in most churches, is soft, slow, quiet, introspective, boring worship. It really is a shame because we have so much to celebrate!

Ezra's prayer in Neh. 9:5-38 Should be read by our nation. We have sinned and fallen so short of the glory of God. But praying in repentance noting who God truly is and praising Him and thanking Him for everything especially for Him is joyful to our souls and to God letting Him know We know Your goodness love mercy and grace for us and want to be with You always In Jesus precious mighty holy name Amen

25:21 evidence that they were sworn enemies of the Jews? This could have been an opportunity for Nehemiah to not proudly say he was the king's cup bearer, but he could have informed them that the king, the same one who ordered the same wall to be torn down, actually ordered it to be rebuilt.
