Everyone, calm down. Yes, I chose the wrong music. There are people who like it, but I also agree that music choices are wrong at this time. Also, the focus of the camera in this video is terrible. I'm sorry I hurt your eyes. But I'd like to say that I've been working hard for two years. In my recent video, these things have improved, so check it out please. Feel free to give me feedback if you have any advice or things you don't like on my video! I would be so grateful. Thank you! My recent video here → kzread.info/dash/bejne/mmmdpKOSgbPOoNo.html

when I was a kid (no making fun. it was the 70's and it's what we had.) we'd look for old baseballs and golf balls. we'd get what we find and use a hacksaw to cut the coverings off to get the hard rubber core out of center to play with like a superball. golf balls were the best. once you pulled the cover back and you cut just a little of the rubber strips that wrapped the ball up it would come alive. it's wrapped so tight that the ball just starts spinning and bouncing on its own. the sound the rubber made as it unwound was really weird.

Would be even better if the finished ball was actually round, traditionally the final process of handmade baseballs is to roll it out on hard wood to make it circular, condition the leather and flatten the creases and stitching.

A ball for 100 bucks... And where is the sewing with gold thread and the gyroscope with a homing system?
I and some of my friends or acquaintances make saddles or bridles for horses. They take longer, they're a lot more work, and they are very beautiful and useful. The bridles start at around $150 and go up from there. Are there really a lot of folks who will pay $100 for one little baseball ? I'm just surprised...for that much money and so little leather you'd think they would want a higher quality interior and real waxed linen stitching.
@Humanbean1100
2 жыл бұрын
how are bridles not starting at like 300 is my question
@arielporte4149
2 жыл бұрын
@@Humanbean1100 I am happy to answer that ; some western bridles are only one strap with one buckle adjuster for length, they may not have tooling, and may fasten at the bit holder with leather straps inserted thru holes. You are correct that some bridles involve additional brow bands, cheek straps, nose bands, tooling, braiding, metal work, etc. I said that they start at $150 for a basic bridle. Also the type(s) of leather used can be a factor as well in the cost. I think the baseball is quite nice I just wondered if a higher quality interior would add to it's value.
@TheJackOfFools
2 жыл бұрын
@@arielporte4149 I mean, honestly I don't see this as a value add. This whole project is just a "neat" thing, but def not worth $100. Adding a more expensive core wouldn't make it more valuable, just raise the cost of construction. Nobody would play with a ball this expensive and I don't personally know anyone who would want to pay $100 to display some random leather project just because it was a baseball.
Great work!!! Your videos are very helpful to us who are new to leather work.
