I am a man of 60 years of age, I have had a fear of flying since a long time ago. on every trip, not being able to sleep, stomach ache and panic seemed to be the most frightening qualities that I had. but by looking at your flight and how you cope with flying, for the first time could travel with much less fear. I want to thank you very much from my heart. Wishing you all the happiness and success for you.
Student pilot here. Your videos are great for all GA fans. That bump at 9:25 didn’t look like too much fun. Also, I like your disciplined handling of checklists and try to emulate it myself.
Just thank you for doing something that most can't or won't and sharing it with us. It is a safe and acceptable way to vicariously enjoy flying. Your editing is stellar. Your style of just having us along without explaining every little move is refreshing too. Another commenter asked for a Q&A ... yes please!
Nicely done Stevie, the whole trip! Hope your Spring and days of flying out west are safe and fun. Thanks as always for being a great example and role model for our industry, we sure need more like you! Have a good one!!! 😎😉

Watching these has been so inspiring! So glad you got there safely! Thinking about getting my own license now! Would love to see a video explaining how this process went for you and what you had to study to get to this point!
Stumbled on this great channel and enjoyed watching you fly from Ann Arbor to CA. I grew up in Livonia, both parents were pilots. I lived out in AZ in Glendale/Peoria area for several years for work. Flew in and out of Sky Harbor probably 100 times. You do a great job with your videos and have a great personality to be on camera. Looking forward to more content.
Thank you for posting these. I have always wanted to fly, and I watched this and have started my ground school and started flying. Thank you.
Woot! Stevie, I'd been so looking forward for this final part in the cross country journey! Welcome to Cali! Loving that over-the-shoulder shot of Graham. Nice to have a wing man! In this case LITERALLY! Ha! I really look forward to more videos in between the demands of work life. Keep Well. Stay Safe!
As others have commented below, you’ve inspired me to pursue my PPL. I posted this on one of your videos back in November. Today I’m fully complete with ground school and have taken about two months of flight lessons. Listening to hours of your radio communication (and others on KZread) has helped me tremendously! Please keep the videos coming!!

How much has your total cost been and how hard is ground school? Any tips, thanks.
@LRobichauxIV
2 жыл бұрын
@@fireworksguy666 I chose the online King Schools ground school. Was not "hard," but it's important not to allow yourself to be intimidated by all the new material you've never seen / heard before. You'll pick it up - it's just new and a good amount of memorization. Just keep going over it. I probably watched half of the material more than one time. I'm sure there are many ways to approach learning to fly, but here is what worked for me: (1) before you do anything, see an FAA certified doc to ensure you can get your medical (you don't want to spend a bunch of time and money only to find out you cannot clear your medical), (2) get ALL ground school completed before you take first flying lesson, and (3) watch copious amounts of high-quality KZread videos on flying instruction, particularly on ATC communication. For instance, it helped me just watching Stevie do her cross country trips with VFR following communicating hand-offs from one ATC to another to another. There are TONS of aviation KZreadrs out there that are pretty good. As far as cost goes, my experience is not typical so you shouldn't use my experience as representative. I chose to do all my training in a Cirrus SR-20 G6 at a Cirrus Platinum Training Center because I want to buy a SR-22 when I'm done with instrument certification. There are really good schools out there that use standard training aircraft who have gotten the costs down to a pretty reasonable level.

You have one of my favorite channels now! I know you cater mostly to an aviation audience but I think it would be so much fun to also have a bit more vlog type footage with content like this too! I would also love to watch a Q&A by you! I know very little about flying and am so curious how this whole process works. As long as you have a valid license and your own plane can you fly virtually anywhere (within reason)? How much did your fuel cost? How much does your hanger cost? Do u make monthly payments on your plane like a car? How do you reserve hanger space over night for long flights like this? So excited to watch more of your content.
As a brand new pilot myself, this video series has been great as you explained everything you were doing and seem to be very confident in that cockpit.
Welcome back and Congratulations!

4500 is a fairly low altitude for that flight; I usually try to fly up around 75-10.5 if possible for cooler air in summer as well as hopefully smoother air. You were really getting bounced around on this flight. Great seeing you back on the TUBE.
Thanks for posting, Stevie! That’s a lot of receive noise on the radios. The noise signature is consistent with ignition spark. Might check the P-leads and grounds on the magnetos. It will make the radio much more pleasant to listen to. Thanks again for the video, and glad you made it to California!

She's monitoring a radio while transmitting on another. Antenna coax running together and antennas near each other on the top of the aircraft without radio interlock is what's causing this.
@vk2ig
2 жыл бұрын
@@astral9872 Certainly that's causing the distortion on the audio when Stevie is transmitting. However; the static that @John Cline talks about is quite evident in all three videos whenever she is listening to distant stations and not transmitting at all, which suggests either ignition noise through faulty grounding of the ignition system, or deterioration in the coax shield or radio ground.
