1/700 IJN Akagi - Fujimi

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Akagi (Japanese: 赤城; "Red Castle") was an aircraft carrier built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), named after Mount Akagi in present-day Gunma Prefecture. Upon the formation of the First Air Fleet or Kido Butai (Striking Force) in early 1941, she became its flagship, and remained so for the duration of her service. With other fleet carriers, she took part in the Attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and was scuttled after the battle of Midway.

The Akagi and Kaga were found right around the time you made this video by "coincidence". Yeah right, you raised the wreckage, restored it and then used a shrink gun on it, quite clearly.

Just sharing a fun fact. The IJN Akagi was originally designed as the second Amagi class battlecruiser along with her lead sister Amagi and their two other sisters Atago and Takao. The Amagi class battlecruiser was the planned successor of the preceding Kongo class battlecruisers. Takao was initially to have been named Ashitaka. Thanks to the Washington Naval Treaty, Amagi and Akagi were on the verge of being scrapped until a proposal to convert them into aircraft carriers under the displacement limit of 27,000 tons was made and approved. Due to the great kanto earthquake during 1923, Amagi's heavily damaged hull was scrapped and Atago along with Takao were cancelled. Source: Wikipedia.

I hope this doesn't came across the wrong way because this is an EPIC built. I couldn't even dream of building something this good. The one thing though that jumped out at me right away was the aircraft props. They are soooo thick and out of scale. I'm astonished that there isn't and photoetch for the propellers. Again to be clear this critique is nothing against the builder but toward the manufacturer/ aftermarket people

I used a bit of paint remover first to wipe off most of the overspray, then found a paint of similar color to the wood and gave it a light coat.

Great model! The Akagi is my favourite ijn ship. I`m making this model kit too. The pe ladders are very hard to bend and glue without breaking. But it will be also a nice model in a showcase, with nameplate In my opinion FUJIMI did a great job on this model. If anyone is thinking about to build it, i would say: do it! Greetings from Germany
