Mickey, your pronunciation of nouns / names is almost perfect! You don't "westernize" them. Many foreigners get it wrong, e.g. Genting [mountain pass] mangled as Jenting, sendol ("cendol" murdered, poor dessert), siku (cheeky "ciku" ain't happy), "sungai" [river] overflowed as soon-ghai, etc. Locals are most happy to give good lip service when asked how to say it right.

These videos truly warm my heart, Mickey. Southeast Asia has such a rich culture, amazing people, beautiful scenery and of course delicious food. And I also appreciate that you touch on some negative aspects aswell, such as the heat or tourist tax. Kangkung is known in Thai menu as Morning glory. Thai pronounciation "Pahk Boong" . The Thai version is more crunchy than the ones grown here in Malaysia. The squid used in this dish is of the red variety (which in Thailand is usually dried compared to the Pla mook (white) which is used fresh)

Penang is my favorite state to visit. Maybe a bit too much, I like to see foreign tourists strolling around while enjoying street food. Like you said, street food heaven. To take fresh air I go to Batu Feringghi favorite place at Starbucks which is located by the beach. If you like Water Theme Park, in Penang there is Escape Theme Park where the water slide is the longest in the world at 1,111 meters. Of course I don't play because I'm old but to entertain the children. Citizens also have to pay tourism tax for room rentals in places like Penang, Melaka, Cameron Highland and Langkawi but only an additional RM3.

The frog is actually "field frog", also called field chicken by locals. Normally catch them at night in rice fields. Malaysian Chinese consider them very good to brew in soups with ginger to cleanse internal body system. Chinese restaurants would cook them spicy & unknowingly a stranger eating it for the first time would think it's chicken meat. Sotong Kangkong is one of my favourites, very difficult to come by in KL these days. It is an awesome salad dish, with the dark prawn paste blended in for a heavenly taste.

I couldn't accept laksa Penang the first few tries. I was used to our laksa Sarawak so when I first tried it I didn't like it at all. I tried it few more times and now I can say, I really enjoyed it.

@@stephaniejaboh8929 I love all type of laksa except Penang laksa... Is not because of the smell but really taste awful

@@stvlai0206 I understand you. It's not for some people. Some people can't accept it specifically because of the taste. I think the reason I learned to like it is because I had the one homemade and because I like really spicy food, I like to add lots of chilli. The sourness and the hot chilli combine made me feel like I'm eating Tom yam or Adam pedas. I learned to ignore the strong fishy smell 😅
