1/48 Meng F-4G Wild Weasel 01 - Cockpit - 4K

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Of course when Meng released their own F-4G right on top of the Zoukei-Mura kit, I couldn't stay away. The Wild Weasel is my favorite Phantom and possibly my favorite jet. I've been waiting for a new tool since coming back to the hobby in 2010.
Work for this one starts in the cockpit. Let's see what Meng's given us to work with.

You need to print a Matt Doog Pilot and a Compressor RIO

Huh, I wasn't sure how those cockpit decals would end up looking, but after all of the special treatment, they ended up looking really good.

I must say I like the engineering behind the fuselage of this kit. The cockpit slips in a treat. How many times have we spent an hour or two getting a cockpit to fit nicely between two fuselage halves. You certainly make very nice cockpits and I have to admit it's one area I like building

Yep. The Tamiya Phantom is a very nice Phantom, but it feels a lot like other recent Tamiya kits where they kinda go their own way. The Meng absolutely feels like they build some Academy and Zoukei-Mura F-4s and then actively thought about how to improve upon the experience.

May have missed it, but I expected you to give your view on Meng's sill plate solution after the 'struggles' with both Tamiya:s and Zukei Mura's seperate sill plate approach. Other than that; keep them informative and inspiring vids coming. Taking special interest in WW planes too, considering to commit one day 🙏

Well their solve is just baking it into the upper fuselage and making it not a problem. But there's a whole sidecar series that'll be comparing the two G kits more directly.

G'day Matt - just picked up this lit myself this week(and promptly tossed a half built Hasegawa one into the bin). Normally not a fan a of decals on consoles but, shit, you've convinced me otherwise on this kit. Looking forward to more video on this gorgeous beastie. Cheers 👍👍👍

Those consoles look great, no need to buy 3D decals. Thx for your videos.

That was a supprise to me how they got that seam line to be there. Amazing. So amazing that on the p38 boom I filled that top seam until I did some research and found it needed to be there. Had to scribe in back in. lol

Hi Matt, I cringed when you were so aggressive with those decals but after seeing the end result I will be buying the Ammo decal stuff and the AK decal adaptor. Can I ask where we can order the pre-painted resin seats? They would be a game changer for a new modeler like me. Please keep the great content coming. Cheers!

Question, Is the product you are using AK Decal Adaptor solution 582 or Ammo by Mig Ultra decal fix Mig2030. You mention (Ammo decal Adaptor) > Thanks

Yeah it's AK Decal Adapter. The Ammo stuff is my usual solvent and the AK comes out if more work is needed
