It’d look more epic and symbolically if Geduev would wear red tights and Burroughs blue.

Geduev is truly one of a kind. Defeating the defending Olympic Champion is not as easy as some may think. Sucks he couldn't win gold

They’ve stolen gold from him, obviously Geduev was a lot better in the match against Yazdsni, but the referees did everything not to let him finish the match with technical superiority. They always stopped the match, put a bandage on his head covering his neck and making him suffocate the rest of the match, and despite all that Geduev was still leading the match but referee just gave Yazdani those last two points while Geduev was holding his leg and Yazdani didn’t get full control behind Geduev and yet the referee gave those last decisive points to Yazdani. Geduev won that match with 6:4 score, but the referee robbed him from this victory and his dream, life is unfair!

Good match. Geduev wrestled well both offensively and defensively. I really hate to see Burroughs lose though.

Great match. Burroughs has class even in a loss. No covering his face, laying on his back and making the opponent wait; just gets up, goes to his spot, shakes hands with the opponent and the coaching team. I would like to see a standard end of match procedure like judo: opponents go to their spots, shake hands, then official signals the winner. Then both acknowledge the crowd, the opposing coaches/team and then celebrate.

У Гедуева в прямом смысле украли золотую медаль в финале судейским беспределом, а Яздани буквально подарили это золото.

Гедуев не раскрылся полностью как борец из-за травмы, а у него огромный потенциал был, а может и есть еще.

Все честно, там был бросок но не было выхода за спину , дали бал за то что тот вышел за пределы ковра , а под конец американец вышел за спину , этот приём оценивается в 2 балла

Американцы все нахимиченные.Нам специалисты постоянно говорят что физически сильные.Последние годы наши тоже в этом плане хороши.Только выборочно. Нахимиченных легко можно вычислить- обычно после хороших допингов борец пропадает с поля зрения на пол года,а то и на год.

I guess I'm the 10%. I believe you misrepresent the facts here.

Wrestling is not only about power, but also about technique. Sometimes power helps you win a match, and sometimes technique. US wrestlers usually have the power, but lack that technique. Jordan is a good example. If you watch the final, you can see both Yazdani and Geduev showing off their technique and power.

Losing to three push out points sucks after all that hard work to get to the Olympics. Felt bad for Jordan.

That last push out wasnt a push out. They both went out together. Most referees rule that they go back to stand up. This referee gave the Russian a point for a push out. Not consistent with most rulings.

I have been part of wrestling for 30 years, jr high, high school, college and wrestled all styles. Why are a lot of freestyle mats so loose with the covering? Strange question I know, I see it a lot when watching international matches. I wrestled in Fargo and don’t remember the mat being like a tarp. What’s the deal?

I've always wondered too... I wrestled in high school and thought I just didn't have enough experience so I never asked. It doesn't look like any mat I've ever seen

Boroughs didn’t work his offense at all here he showed his gas tank in that last minute though. Him and Snyder are fun to watch when their down and have to score. It’s usually like watching Brady on a game winning drive so clutch.

Burroughs was in his prime at the 2016 Olympics, but he wrestled a bad tournament. Nowadays he is not as dominant as he used to be, but I'd say he didn't start declining/slowing down until 2019. He even won a world title in Oslo, proving he's still elite.

😀 Let me explain. There are two men on the court. They have to try hard to lay the opponent on the back. If one of them does, then he's the winner.

The amount of dirty tactics I saw in this match by Geduev is disgraceful at best. Pause the video at 10:35 if you disagree. There is shot defense, and then there is blatant dirty wrestling. Geduev literally digs his fingers into Burroughs' right eye to fend off the shot in that clip. Other observations: 1) Referee does well at first, then fails to control the antics throughout the match. EVERY single whistle, Geduev is continuing to push in and/or grind his head right into Burroughs' face seconds after the whistle. (which is why Jordan shoved Geduev at the beginning). 2) The eye pokes and swipes to the face were to draw blood on Jordan's face so that the ref can stop the match constantly for blood cleanup. The stoppages are a HUGE russian advantage because Geduev has a TERRIBLE gas tank. 3) 10:48 - should have been 1 point Burroughs, not Geduev. The rules for scoring on a push out ONLY involve the whole foot, the elbow, or the head, NOT the hand (not even both hands). Freeze this frame and Geduev's head touches first. Geduev knows deep down inside he can't beat Burroughs straight up, plus he's juiced to the core and therefore has no tank when he's cutting 20+ lbs. so of course you get the antics plus a move up in weight afterwards. It's pathetic and he'll never win a world or olympic title with that nonsense.

J. Burrell hahaha, I’m sure you can tell me a loooot about drugs! Anyone who watches the fight open-mindedly will see that Burroughs from the very beginning was scared to his balls and started playing dirty straight away. You call him elite wrestler, but he’s very one-sided, though he’s really strong and explosive (say hello to American pharmaceutical industry 🖐). You seem not to know a lot about wrestling (please don’t tell me that the only thing which stopped you from Olympic gold was diarrhea which occurred to you during the finals for qualifying) so better stop talking things you don’t know about

While all the guys beaten by Burroughs declassified him later in a devastating manner. Even in this match the unfair judging didn’t help like it is always used by americans, they give to Geduev 1 point for 4 point takedown, you tell me about fair judging

I don’t understand the scoring but seems Jordan gets 2 for one move and for similar moves his opponent only gets one point. Looks wrong but what do I know.

The referee is not a wrestler I think or never wrestled cuz he is running the match according to the rules strictly and controlling all around the round 🤦🏽‍♂️

The Russian wrestler took 8 minutes medical time with Yasdani Iranian wrestler and Iran won the Gold medal in Brazil, now the American wrestler is doing the same thing and taking medical time on this match. What goes around comes around!

Its an old story, but didn't feel nice watching losing cool. May be felt the Geduev provoked him. but there was no illegal move. Mistakes happen. Glad that the match went well.

Steroids is a game changer. You can tell that Geduev stacked like a race horse. He looks like he juiced in the past or possibly still on performance enhancers. He doesn't look human. It sucks that Jordan couldn't get past him, if he did beat him Jordan would of won the Gold that year.
