1/32 Revell F-14A 31 Day build - Part 7 Cockpit again....

Please note I started this 31 day build with full intentions of completing it by the end of March, but I suffered a serious medical emergency about halfway through, spending over a week in hospital. I do intend on finishing this project first before I do anything else, but the updates will be further apart as I recover....
I've taken the silly step of building a large scale F-14 in 31 days as part of a Group Build by Justin Lentz here:
/ 331097009023901
The ancient Revell/Monogram F-14A is one of three large scale Tomcats available, alongside the almost equally ancient Tamiya -A version (which requires a lot of rescribing) and the somewhat inaccurate Trumpeter versions (A/B and D) (which requires new intake parts if you're that way inclined).
I'll be doing this one largely out of the box, adding some rivets and some missed panel lines, replacing the old chunky Revell parts like missiles, fuel tanks, cockpit pieces and nozzles with downgraded Tamiya parts.
I'll be uploading a video every day or other day throughout March, so stay tuned for quick updates as I need to throw this together!

I wouldn't say patience - just wanting to finish this within the allotted time - I love deadlines, especially the whooshing sound they make as they fly by...

Thanks - I'm glad some of you are enjoying these! It's taking the pressure off instead of having to edit together full build videos for sure. I hope to accelerate the progress this weekend if I can , I normally don't model weekends....

Heh heh I know, its worse for me, I'm used to hearing a little "snick" when I put my Tamiya kits together...well except the 1/32 Tamiya F-14...thats almost as bad as this one believe it or not!

Hey Chris, you must be having hot weather Cicades come out above 64 degrees F, think that's 18 c. They come out every 17 years but that's like salmon spawning . We called them Katydids when we lived in Texas, its too cold in the Pacific Northwest but we suffered through them for 50 years. The hotter the temperature the louder they get. The noise comes from the males who are horny and looking for females. They are grub worms in the soil until They pop out. People actually eat them. HOWEVER, Dogs and Cats love them so watch Penny and the cats. I definitely see what you mean about modifying pilots, done it many times. Love these videos , you forget about the size of this beast until you bring the fuselage into the frame. Awesome how you see to fix the interchange of parts, this will be a " Frankenstein Tomcat". To quick bits of news, know you are scrambling. Getting up to speed on the market today - I found a Spitfire personnel kit on Amazon with a dog 1/48. It was an ICM KIT. I ordered one and didn't realize it came from Kyiv Ukraine, nice kit for my level very good model box. I ordered another one. However I thought they were fighting a war over there. Next suffering KZread I found some videos on fantastic paints, you probably know them. Best video for you would be " How to varnish like a pro" VMS TUTORIAL. They should come up in a search I think they are UK.. Right now I have Tamiya and Vallejo, but these blokes really have their act together. But I'm only speaking from a video at the moment - they could save you time and money, even if they are a bit more expensive , you'll see Why in their videos. If you have used them and they are awefull let me know, I'll send a link if you can't find them. They even have tank tread paints. Sorry for the long post, I'll keep them shorter next video. The Tomcat is looking great, Cheers from the colonies Bob.

@@BrodieD Its why I picked it for the 31 day build - just slam it together because if you whinge about the fit and detail and try to fix it all, it will never get finished! Anyway, I've built my fair share of Airfux crap to get through this thing....but I'm eyeing off the 1/32 Tamiya F-14 that I have just to the side of my bench applying the same pressure - 30 days only to finish the bastard! (I'm halfway through rescribing the whole bloody thing....sheesh)
