1/16 German StuG III Ausf. G Das Werk Metal Winterketten Custom Building Works Complete Build

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Watch the complete build video for the custom building the 1/16 StuG III assault gun model by Das Werk. The interior is highly enhanced with custom details and paint works. Extra features were added like stowage and metal Winterketten wide tracks. The video captures the complete custom build works so it might be a bit long for some viewers, hope you find it helpful!

    This is absolutely insane. And I mean it in the most beautiful sense of the word. The amount of detail is just incredible just fantastic. After watching this I decided to abandon any idea of doing anything similar. Well done.

    A sensational achievement of attention to detail, and intuitive distribution of weathering on both the chipping and rusting - that seems to be a trademark of yours - that you do very well, and the awesome job on the floor of the cannon compartment. I also liked the legendary "winterketten" tracks that were extra wide, for added mobility in the Russian wilderness.

    In regards to streaking, streaking is cause by rainfall which has a tendency to flow the same way every time. AFVs spend most of their lives outdoors, and they kick up a lot of dust. When it rains, it flows the same. The dirt mineralizes the rain, cause hard deposits. There's only one type of AFV that doesn't get streaking - the ones in a museum. You will not see streaking where rain doesn't go, like under the track skirts.

    Thanks for your insight. I agree with you, but somehow the rotating track pattern and the road wheels could bring up the ground's muddy water and splashes to the track skirts, and eventually creates streaking despite the rain water cannot reach.

In contrast with my other builds with RC tanks and older models, Takom/ Das Werk is really precise with molding those small details on their latest models. I actually did not have to modify any to achieve this except the added interim partial detailings.

    @@henschelporsche1 Stug 4 is interesting. When driving a Stug 3 it bothers me the only way out for the Driver, in case of a fire behind him, is the access hatch right in front of the Driver. Not easy unless your a small person. So having a hatch above my head like a Stug 4 would be nice, but its a flat wall in front of my head and an excellent place to put a shot. I noticed a pic of some Stug 4 that had built up cement in front of the Stug 4 drivers hatch to try to alleviate this issue. I think using these these two kits will be your best work yet. You will build a fantastic Stug 4.

  • @henschelporsche1

    @henschelporsche1

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks! The winter effect I used was an old school method with hairspray. Of course you can also use the current market chipping product but I found hairspray was much easier and economical to use, and the chipping effect was actually more realistic. Basically I just applied the hairspray with brush instead of spraying on the painted model. After about an hour you could spray with the acrylic white paint. About 10 minutes you could use a wet brush preferably stiffer to brush off the amount of paint you want. For scratches use a pointy thing to scratch off while it was still wet. When the white paint is dry it will remain permanent. Hope you find this useful and please subscribe and share my channel! 🙏🏼

    The older one I used were Osketten and the new Das Werk video were Winterketten. You are right, the Osketten replaced the Winterketten in 1944 Spring. I personally like the Osketten better without the spikey look. Their differences which mentioned by Wolfkin from a discussion forum: Winterketten were developed in 1942 for use in winter conditions on the Eastern Front. These were basically a normal track with track extensions that protruded from the ends of the tracks. These are recognizable by the long triangular extensions. These were usually found on the PzKpfw III, PzKpfw IV and StuG III but could also be seen on Hummel, Hornisse and other vehicles. Ostketten were developed in 1944 for use in the muddy conditions in the Spring and Autumn on the Eastern Front, the Rasputitsa. These were basically a wider track than the usual track which was fitted. There were no triangular extensions, just a wider track. These were for use usually on the PzKpfw IV and StuG III but could also be found on other vehicles. When seen on the PzKpfw IV it looks like a PzKpfw V Panther track on a PzKpfw IV. I hope that help to answer your query. Thanks for watching and I hope you can subscribe and share my videos.
