$1,100 240Z Becomes Carbon Bodied Time Attack Car of our Dreams
If we were to add a "rags to riches" story to the book of time attack, this would be it. Shawn Bassett knew he wanted a 240z after watching one clean up at an autocross way back when, found one for cheap, and spent the next few years building to attack time. AND - he just took a podium finish at the car's first time attack race!

There once was a guy named Batista Pininfarina that introduced the word to proper design. Everyone copied him. But he admitted that he likes a lot of designs that are derivative of his. He even "helped" design the Cadillac Allante. (Cadillac just used his lines and idea but left that atrocious front end to make it look like Jon Voigt's Chrysler LeBaron.)

Doing carbon isn't expensive, it's knowing how to do it correctly that gets expensive. No fucking chance there's 100k into this car. This is mayyyybe a 40k build, assuming he had all the cf tools required for making and baking dry carbon before hand. Engine and trans are like 5-7k, car was 1k, cage will be llike 2k, chassis parts will be around 10k all in all. That leaves 20k for body, cooling, and electronics. Plenty.
Ahh good job Nads, you killed it.

I love time attack cars. It's really the only racing format (along with hill climb) where garage builders get to really sink their teeth into aero and hardcore engineering.
