1.1 - Backyard Trials Obstacle Course on a GasGas TXT 300 - Session 1

I got my first trials bike - a GasGas TXT 300 Racing. I couldn't help but setup an obstacle course in the back yard.

I just started riding trials on Thanksgiving. I bought a 2023 beta 300 SS. It’s fun to watch you progress with your obstacles. I am doing online coaching with trials. Progression, Tom Tantau. I highly recommend it. Subscribed.

Sweet! I have watched some of the trials progression videos. I'll stick with it. Thanks.

You’re doing awesome! That’s a pretty tall obstacle to start. I admire your courage.

I have the same bike and play in my own garden. You might want to to lower your tyre pressures

You are 100% correct. The tire pressures were too high. I lowered the pressures and and talked about it in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dHp7tat8lK--m5s.html. HUGE difference. Thank you!

Slow down for your double blip. It works better the slower you go. The two distinct blips will become more obvious.

Thanks for the pointer. I really appreciate it. Curious - does it look better to you in the last video session (session 3)?

In session 3 you continue to punch the obstacle on the way up. To punch or zap you’re still going to have to slow down so that your compression is stopping or almost stopping you not just deflecting up like you’re doing.I believe it was the fourth attempt that you made where your front wheel did not contact the obstacle at all, that was a perfect “ride up” technique and if you could duplicate it, you should pursue that. I think if you’re really trying to pursue the double blip, you should make an obstacle half that height to learn on. I also recommend watching Neil Price videos

@@msmit001 Thank you. I was actually thinking maybe I needed to build a taller one for practicing the double blip! I'll step it down and try something smaller first.

A great way to learn the timing is to just put a paver stone in your yard and practice, lifting the wheel and landing on that paver stone with your front wheel and with that landing, will come the compression for your clutch pop. Don’t be concerned with getting off of the ground yet just work on the timing of two distinct blips and compression efforts.
