    But he goes to the screen to tell the others there is a way out. If he had just stepped outside, the others would just have noticed that he was gone and possible assumed he was dead. If he had gone to the screen because his points went up, I would have agreed, but he went there to help the people who were as confined as he was. Also, the door opened when he was having a breakdown, so maybe the way to escape was to show how devastated you really were instead of keeping on the performance?

    @@randominoh the Japanese guys name is Nasubi I can’t remember the name of the show. It was a 24hr live stream and he had to enter into magazine sweepstakes to get items to survive. He wasn’t allowed to leave the apartment at all.

    I think the ending has a deeper meaning, the hesitant wait and the running back to his viewers and streamers saying "see we can achieve anything." instead of using that opportunity to escape made the door close.

    He meant "we can achieve freedom", did he not? He wanted to let the others know that escape is possible instead of being selfish, escaping and leaving the others in the dark. At least that would be my interpretation. He did return to the screen to give the other prisoners hope, not to gain some more points.

    I get from an evil organization standpoint including an incineration feature to the prison rooms since it means they can easily reset them for new prisoners but making it so that the prisoners can torch one another on a whim seems a tad stupid and extremely violent

    It’s already happened in real life to a Japanese man named Nasubi. For 15 months he was in a small room being broadcasted to millions of viewers and had to use random sweepstakes to earn food and comfort. He was isolated for so long that by the time they moved him to another small room he immediately did what he was told to do in the beginning without anyone having to tell him to do it.

Being trapped in the room represents people trapped by social media and portraying to be something there not just for likes. Also the more you share the more popular you become.
