$1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime Dan and Laureen Down To The Wire
Ойындар
Today Dan and Laureen Chrisafuli attempt to take their final step towards winning the biggest prize in television history $1,000,000. In the process they give us the most gut wrenching moment in game show history.
I do not own any rights to this show, this is uploaded for entertainment and nostalgic purposes.

Jim Lange did a great job in hosting this game show!!!
OMG, talk about a close one! He got Soothsayer just right at the buzzer!

I don't even know how that's possible.
This was the Million-Dollar shot....literally AND figuratively. At the :20 mark and still needing three words, my thought was they would not make it. Especially when Dan and Laureen only had about 2 seconds to guess the final word. And as 1 second ticked off to tenths of a second, Dan said "Soothsayer" with one letter revealed and BAM! Millionaires. 9 couples would win the $1M in the 1 1/2 years this show was on the air, and this was the most heart-pounding and most dramatic by a mile.

He had soothsayer in his head after guessing it with five seconds to go, so they were very fortunate that was the last word!
Soothsayer was their lucky word, because Dan had that one in mind ahead of time! Sometimes when they guess an answer at the million dollar round, they just brainstorm. He brainstormed "Soothsayer," on that last one, which just luckily happened to be it that time! Of all nine winning couples, I believe Dan and Laureen here came the closest to not doing it!
Brian titled this episode very appropriately!
Long before Regis was giving away a million.
This game show was also aired and very popular in the philippines in the late 80s

He was saying soothsayer even before the they went to the booth and it ended up being a Hail Mary At literally the last second. Poetic Justice indeed.

Needs permission from Warner Bros. since they own Lorimar/Telepictures. Same with "Perfect Match" with Bob Goen.
Actually Marissa Crisafulli (the baby girl) has several videos on KZread. She looks like a million bucks.
Laureen was on PYL in November 1984

Ouch!
Laureen is a very unique yet pretty name. Kind of a cross between Lauren and Maureen.
Brian, it says on Michael Tiller's list of past traders that you were the one to help with the majority of his trades. Now even if YOU don't have his copy of Donald/Kathi vs. Phillip/Barbara, do you know anyone else who does? I'm trying to learn patience when it comes to waiting for a response to my comments, but I only recently created an account to post comments on KZread, just a little over a day after Michael's tragic death. And he still had a good many episodes of this show left in his collection that never went up. Several I was looking forward to because either A, they were on his first channel and/or his second one, or B, because they were episodes I'd never seen available before. (Those I'm maintaining faith will be uploaded somewhere else.) And once again, the copy is very watchable despite hefty tracking faults and has no commercials. And one more thing, I want to thank you for the episodes you've already shared!

Okay, I guess Brian is very busy right now, but ever since I established an account to post comments on KZread right after Michael Tiller's death, he has not responded to a single one of my comments, not a single one. Does anyone on this sight have any possible idea as to why that is?
Funny how both of the first two puzzles were solved with only four letters.
5:37 He meant their third day.
The baby girl has to be about 30 now.

Play the category. You're allowed as many guesses as you want. It's a good strategy, especially if your spouse is focusing on the puzzle itself.

For less distraction while playing the bonus game. The only person they can hear in there is Jim.
@ScottNapolitan

Noise and distraction. You see, they need to be able to focus on the screen, and any possible applause and cheering from the audience getting to their ears could take away their focus, thus hurting their chances of getting all 6 items in 60 seconds. This game can be pretty easy when you're viewing it from home, but if you're actually there and playing, it's a different matter. The one thing they can still hear, of course, is Jim Lange's voice.

They knew that "soothsayer" was likely to be an answer. Just kept blurting it out. And that's how you win a game show.
