I don't know what I would do without you, your teaching method is on point! You just explain things in a way that I could understand, thank you so much.
Thank you for clarifying the -- concept with an actual explanation. My brain is relieved.
@10:00 Thanks for the video. I have taught that if you have 3 negatives and subtract 2 negatives, you're left with 1 negative. Again, -17 - (-4) = -13 because you're subtracting 4 negatives from 17 negatives. This is just another way to do it. I write DMIHTINTB, "Don't make it harder than it needs to be!" Hey, thanks for the video! Happy teaching! 😃👍
Man I wish I could go back to this…

The confusing part is that the same "-" symbol means negative and minus. The "+" symbol is used only for plus, never for positive. Parentheses are used for negative numbers only after an operation symbol, e.g. -17 - (-4). [ 4-8 ] means "positive 4 minus positive 8". Can also be stated as "positive 4 plus negative 8" [ 4+(-8) = -4 ]. [ -3-6 ] means "negative 3 minus positive 6". Can also be stated as "negative 3 plus negative 6". [ -3+(-6) = -9 ].
What if it's -5 - -9?
