She used mix voice in that album, mixing has a brighter sound than full voice. Plus she goes to warm places to record her voice is best in those places e.g. Milan! This was the best concert on the Rainbow tour. Also she reached F5 and F#5 live in the CB era so in the studio a G5 or G#5 for one second on full vocal rest would be cake for her lol.

She has always been mixing on her high belt , but she did start to use a headier mix since the butterfly album and even more in the early 00s on Glitter/Charmbracelet/TEOM that’s why she was belting G5 and G#5 like crazy in those era ! A legend

@@Joshua-cu1uz no it was not. Daydream was still Mariah with her baby voice, she hadn't even reached vocal maturity yet. High notes aren't always an indicator of a prime.

To think that she felt like she needed to dub in 1994/1995. Gurl listen to your own damn voice, let this realness be what makes you a legend. Because it does.

Chad Lankford okay but is it really her or is it the productions thats doing the dubbing. We know that the media want these concerts, shows, model photography, etc to be perfect and do this dubbing and air brushing and making things look "perfect" to convey something that makes people want to stay glued to it. Before you saw the undubbed version of MSG wasnt it jaw dropping...even though the undubbed version was still just as amazing. idk but i dont think she herself would sit through the dubbing process. maybe im wrong...

I think she's more involved in her career than you give her credit for. She knows what's going on. She knows that her live sets are mixtures of live and lipped. She's played as big a role in the creation of 'Mariah Carey' as anyone has. And regardless of whose idea it originally was, it's definitely been her idea to continue doing it for the last 15 years. I mean I still go see her every chance I can (going to Vegas for the third time); just wish she had been a bit more confident early on and not relied so much on production to create 'perfection.'

i disagree , butterfly tour at tokyo dome 1998 actually had many prime vocal attempts and she has pretty good E5's on that tour date. Milan has some great D5-F5 belts but overall you can see she really struggled with fatigue especially this performance.

@@lambtingz7906 actually also, thats not true. the one in tokyo dome was lowered a semitone than here. so here, she highered the note which meant she hit more high notes here than the tokyo dome. Tokyo dome 1998 had a lower key and this one was the original from tokyo dome 1996.

i Prefer this performance than any other lipped etc. i dont mind if she is raspy now and then.. i appriciate that she give her all and the outcome is very nice and soulful.. 1000 better like this than liping and doing notes that she never done ever live...completely pitch/altered with computers..

I felt so bad at 3:24 because she was so into to it that she went for the note but still cracked :(

that is not true,at her prime she hit many G5 live,and she has hit a lot of F#5 between her prime and out of her prime.

as much as i love her...almost hald charmbracelet album was studio altered and she was sound like a smurf at times...never sounded so high pitch in full voice..and suddently when her voice is not in top shape she sing her highest notes on studio and live her tone is alot lower and at that parts she had to lip... and the thing is that she sound alot better when she is really live and sing in her narural lower tone!
