IMO. All pickups should come like that from the factory.

We use the same lift for our truck for tree service we have the stock bumper on the truck we just remove the tailgate when we dump. it's really not as bad of a deal especially if you put an inner handle that you can grab ahold of it when you're removing it and putting it back on. Works great

This is so nice. I want to do this to my F-150! One thing about the bumper! I have a body shop and its easy to mount the bumper to the bed so that it moves with the bed! might be something to think about!

I know this is a old post, good job ,now just convert bumper to a scissor action ,out from bed ,down ,and back in near ,may be 1 inch off ground.Might even use a splitter on hydraulic line to manipulate bumper prior to raising bed .Sounds simple , is say doable and cool .Done all the time out west.

You can make the bumper tilt with the bed just weld the bumper brackets to the bed hinges and then bolt on the bumper and your set.

Phoenix must be the place to buy a truck. 173,000 in Chicago would have 1/2 the frame rails gone. That is one clean pickup truck. Perfect, just the way it is.

Nice truck. I always wanted to do this to a pickup, but I was worried that the bed would get kinda wobbly without some support bolted long ways to the crossmembers.

grease all hinges and other pivot areas ~ lucas red lithium / spray.. also clean under bed spray under bed all metal areas and bolts with zinc

@@TyBrink I work with rv and see 3 hitches brake in 2 .those 2 middle bolts not bolted will flex the hitch and it will brake . I put a new hitch on my hd made it so much safer to tow with.

The kit was about 1200 if I remember right, and we installed it ourselves

I have one on my 02 Chevy 2500 6.6, and it works great, I use it for trash, wood, mulch, rocks etc. I don't know if it's the same kit though

I have a 1999 Chevy 3500 I'm thinking about adding this same setup/dump hoist to. What is the most weight you were able to dump/and or hold in the bed with your setup?

How long did it take you to install it? Looks awesome.

It took me and my dad a full weekend to do it together. Maybe an extra day I can't remember exactly.

How much have you tipped with this so far? I'm interested to know how the cross member stood up to having the ram clamped to it? 👍

If the bed gets loaded with too much weight then it will just not lift it. No damage to the crossmember, there were supports provided to bolt to the crossmember to add some strength. Its a 2 ton rated system that's all it will lift.

Save some trucks for the rest of us😂

This kit doesn't work with the factory bumper unless you relocate it or attach it to the bed.

I believe the kit is around 1200 and it's a 2 ton rating.

Couple of Iowa winters will break that truck in proper for you 🤣

Yes the trailer hitch bolts to the frame so it's separate from the bed. The factory hitch needs support in the middle though so we made a custom metal bumper to bolt the middle of the hitch

If you have a way to lift the bed off to work on it and install the kit then yeah, you could do it. The kit is from pierce dump bed kits.

I dont think they make a kit for the 1500 Silverado. This kit was specifically for a 2500hd or 3500

No worries man, GM's badging names are pretty dumb anyway. On chevy trucks in 99-06 LS was the normal package with power windows and some basic features and LT was basically loaded with leather and everything, but in 06 and newer trucks they changed the LT badge to basically be more like the older LS package.

The kit came with 2 bumper pads to make it quieter when the bed drops, so we can always take those out and do a little modifying to make line up.
