06 26 18 1974 Kawasaki Z1A Carburetor Synchronization

Ойын-сауық

06-26-18 This video is for entertainment purposes only. I got the 1974 Kawasaki Z1A ready for carburetor synchronization after picking up a new battery. I guess it has been a lot longer since I ran this thing than I thought. Everything went pretty smooth. I could not take it for a test ride because I don't have any insurance. I also need to fix a little leak on the fuel line filter connection.

Thank you. This is a very informative video particularly with your carb tuning method. I have a z650 and have all sorts of issues with the carbs. Cheers 😊

I like working on the carbureted bikes. I started riding back in the 70s and back then everything was carbureted. It is much easier finding information now, then it was back then. Finding parts on the internet makes your life easier too. Good luck on getting your bike running.

on adjusting the air screws...I turn them in clockwise until it stumbles and out to highest rpm ..stopping for 3-4 seconds every quarter turn to allow engine response.nStop at first spot of highest rpms...

That would set your idle mixture on the idle circuit. The synchronizing of the carburetor slides is meant to balance the slide position of each carburetor with the others. Differences in carburetors and engine cylinder performance are "equalized" as best as possible when the carburetors are synchronized. That is the best way I can describe it.

I have a 82 kz 650 csr. Bike wouldn't idle so I cleaned carbs now it will idle great but want take any fuel u try to Rev it up u hear suction an it back fires. Do you think it's a vacuum leak around the boots on carb. I sprayed a little strating fluid an ur reved up. Didn't know If that would cause it to back fire when giving it gas. An sometimes it back fires with the choke on until its warm. Any help or advice

So what screws are you adjusting to sink the carbs on the z1

There are screws with jamb nuts on each carburetor that open or close the throttle plate to balance the vacuum to each carburetor.

I am restoring a 1974 kawasaki Z1 900 I sandblasted the chassis and I found a nasty surprise: 2 tubes of the chassis were welded to brass! were the chassis of these bikes subject to breakage?

They do have a weak spot, mainly on the 73s, where the front frame comes down. I believe on the 74s they welded a gusset on the frame to strengthen it up but if you are looking at buying one that is a place to look for cracks.
