Too many 💎 in this podcast. There’s literally no one researching the tendon and putting out content like Jake does. You can really tell he’s been through it with his tendon journey. He’s helped me out a lot.🙏🏾

Yup, I'm about to listen to this whole thing! I've been listening to Jake for some time now and he's given me a lot of information regarding knee pain prevention and increasing your vert. This is like when your two favourite cartoons collide! Super Excited to hear both of them talk to each other 😆

I enjoyed the discussion and had to come back and forth to this podcast but it was informative as a personal and athletic trainer. I had surgery on my right knee myself and have been training it in various ways while gaining my mobility and agility back along with just overall strength and aesthetic . The atg split squat has helped me with focusing on the internalize pushing directly in the knee but I do various types of squats overall. elevated heel deep squat, Bulgarian split, Bulgarian split into a jump, front load etc. I do these with moderate amount of weight and I do feel like the mid range has helped me phenomenally with gaining that explosive burst. Isolation exercises have also helped not just with strength development but aesthetic too 👌. Thanks for having a cool space to talk about this and gain more insight on the body and how to not just build athletes but rehabilitate them.

So many facts you've shared here I learned the hard way. Ruptured my patella tendon going for a layup a month ago. I'm 32, I stopped playing for a season then went back to basketball 4 months prior to injury, little heavier than my ideal playing weight, stressed with work, had a long standing ankle ligament strain on the same side, was simply used to experiencing knee pain a bit before but a lot after playing and probably dehydrated that day. Although it was an action I've done 1000's times before (a layup), the total situation was very different and looking back I understand how this could have happened.

Yielding Isometrics can induce a "tendon creep" which is a nice controlled way of loading a grumpy tendon early on. Similarly, an overcoming Isometric can re-develop rate of force development where the client/patient can grade the effort and titrate this based on discomfort levels. I've found even early on, pool based running/jumping can be tolerated annnnnd this is great for avoiding aerobic/anaerobic deconditioning

Just turned 46 years old. I always had patellar tendonopathy when I was younger. Haven't had pain in a few years but I still do lifting and jumping. 3 weeks ago was doing some dunks and feeling good. Then boom, patellar tendon ruptured. And even though I had been doing some plyos, I hadn't been doing full approach jumps in a while. Probably was simply not used to the load a full approach jump puts in you.

Phasic approaches are silly bc it results in detraining of differing systems. Accordingly, a concurrent systems approach where all systems are trained in a graded manner might ensure greater transferability to a person's end goal/sport. This philosophy partially touches on coach's previous ideas of force/time signatures needing to be joint specific and timing/peak force specific
