Not just for Texas fans, but myself as a college football fan, one of my all time favorite moments in this sport was when Vince Young scored the game winning TD, the Texas fans were going crazy, the Texas players and coaches were going crazy, even their costumed mascot Hook 'Em was excited and hugging the players; And there was Vince Young, who just scored the TD to win the National Championship, and he is as calm as if he scored a TD in a blowout game. Truly one of the most underrated moments in sports history.

I dont know about this best team of all time crap from either side. Miami 2002 Hurricanes had how many gold jackets with Frank Gore and Shawn Taylor on the bench. Let that sink in. Meanwhile the Trojans couldn't spy the quarterback if their lives depended on it. Ask Michael Vick who was flat out a better running quarterback in a more difficult era than Vince or Cam Newton no debate he'll tell you who the one team who shut down the quarterback run was.

As a true life long Bama fan born and raised, and not one of the many bandwagon "fans" that showed up after Saban and the success I can truly say when the good times come back around it will be that much sweeter. I'm soon to be 32 and prior to Saban's arrival I never got to see any of glory days of Bear Bryant being before my time and Gene Stallings and the 92 national championship I was too little to appreciate anything. So for years and years all I got to see was being a bottom dweller and losing to rivals non-stop, but that's the marking of being a true fan not jumping ship during the hard times. Hopefully soon enough y'all will get y'all's version of a Saban rebuild, because Texas has far too much legacy and resources not to come back in a great way. As a USC fan, Texas deserved that title. In 2003, right after USC lost to Cal (I was nine), is when I really began to understand College Football, which is when I consider I became a USC fan. This was the first game I ever saw my team lose. People give Pete Carroll flack about running the ball on 4th and 1, and yes they could've at least put reggie on the field, but there was no stopping Vince Young. Vince's performance in that game is the greatest single game championship performance I have ever witnessed in any sport. The hype for the game was insane, and the game surpassed the hype. I'm born and raised in Greece, never been to US, never caught or thrown a spiral in my life... This very game, this very player made me a lifelong football fan, a life-long Vince Young fan and-unfortunately- a life-long Titans fan... In the build-up of the game, a week prior, I downloaded the 2005 Michigan game and my eyes were opened. I downloaded a couple of games of USC, the Notre Dame game and some other I didn't end up watching. I was convinced, as a complete ignorant about football, that Vince would dominate them, and after what he did I thought, as a basketball guy, "this dude is gridiron Michael Jordan" , I would get to watch the greatest football players career in front my eyes... All these years I thought the Titans destroyed VY, his destiny was to go to Houston...Watching this doc changed my mind... VY was always supposed to be a Titan, Steve McNair was never to be traded to Baltimore, he might be alive today. VY was supposed to do a drama-free "Aaron Rodgers" under Steve for a season or two, as it proved that was all he had left in the tank and go on to rule the sport to this very day as should... Of course that moron Steve Fisher should have been fired, along with that other idiot Chow who sulked over not getting Matt Leinart at 3 and Bud Adams forcing them to pick VY... When VY go to the Titans he had NOTHING around him, just a good offensive line. Nobody to throw to, literally. David Givens and Jabar Gaffney were the best FA's they could manage. Took them 2 years to get CJ2K and 3 to get Kenny Britt. LenDale White became a complete bust instead of the stronger processor of Derrick Henry... And then there was Kerry f-ng Collins... VY never had a chance...

Pretty cool they had a film crew during this year to capture that UT championship. College football (and NFL) was different and better back then. Wish we could go back in time.

My mother in law passed away in 2017. One of my most treasured possessions is a stuffed Longhorn doll that sat on top of her big screen every time Texas played. She gave it to me because that was our thing. Watching ballgames together. The 05 season was obviously special because the Horns won it all. I was happy for her. It was special to her. I say this because I played football for Arkansas in the late 80s early 90s. We played Texas. I miss her to this day and still break out the Longhorn doll for Nana this time of year. It sits between my two Razorback Cotton Bowl jerseys on the wall. But it means everything to me.

The greatest college FB game ever. It's hard to imagine another game that will equal it. Kick 6 against Bama was great, Boise State's improbable win against OU was great, Flutie's hail Mary was great, the game of the century (Nebraska vs. OU) was great, but this game was for all the marbles ... in the Rose Bowl ... against a USC team that was deservedly gunning for the greatest college football dynasty of all time. Those stakes, the California vs. Texas football rivalry, the hype before the game, elevated it and the dramatic moments in the game from Bushes mystery lateral that turned an apparently impending dismal blowout into an epic thriller, to Griffin''s improbable interception, to USC's 2nd half dominance capped by Jarrett's TD, to the miraculous 4th down stop of Lendale White behind his incredibly stout O-line, to Vince running it in on 4th and 5 with 26 seconds to go , you just can't imagine a more improbable and dramatic outcome ... unless you watched the magic of the 2004-2005 Horns under the leadership of VY - a college football messiah.

Not a Texas fan myself, but this qualifies as compelling college football material anywhere. However- I simply *have to say this* because it stunned me when I saw it here.... No one's done a better job of overinflating their legacy and skewing the collective perceptions of the unsuspecting masses of CFB fans by convincing them their school is an elite historical superpower than Texas has- well, no, maybe Georgia's tied with you for that dubious honor. Either way, I mean, I almost fell out of my seat when I learned that Texas had only won 3 national championships in their entire history prior to 2005. Three! Furthermore, that they were also on a 35 year drought at the time too...? Wow. Amazing. Hat's off to you guys down there in Austin. No, really. I'm being serious here. I salute the job your public relations dept has done for the last 50 years. Schools like Miami and Nebraska have actually achieved more than you guys have, yet somehow the overall perception all across America is that Texas is the more prestigious and traditional program. I'm not saying Texas hasn't accomplished enough in their history for y'all to be proud of, but you certainly aren't members of the same royal bloodline that Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, and USC are by winning national championships and Rose Bowls since the 1920s and '30s. Again, I don't know how the hell y'all engineered this feat of marketing wizardry, but it's impressive nonetheless.

Haha get out of here with that passive aggressive response. That's one of the saltiest comments I've seen concerning college football. Texas is the 4th most winning program in college football history. Only Michigan, Ohio state and Alabama have more. It was only like a year or so ago when Ohio state barely passed them up for that third spot. Plus top 5 in most bowl wins. If you want to talk about championships specifically, than fine. But you should add in the fact that Texas has been screwed out of a few championships, and usually got the short end of the stick if they were one of 3 teams people decided to put in the national championship. Plus add in the fact that Colt Mccoy getting injured the very first series of the 09 championship. None of those negates from the fact that they are the 4th most winning program in college football history, with the greatest college qb and national championship on their hand. And that Texas has one of the most all Americans.
