That would give me anxiety every time it rains! That's flowing really fast, there should be some meandering in there somewhere.

Was it lined? Or did you just dig it and throw rocks into it? I want to do one but make it as natural as possible.

What do you do when it floods? Surface water widens up and close to houses...

  • @BuddBieber

Back in 1997 we had one of those 500 year rains and some water got into the basement. I've since reworked the creek to raise the house side so the water will head downhill. Haven't had a problem since.

This river is going to eventually cause soil erosion thus, degrade the structural soundness of the house and any other edifice on the property. It is too close to the house and adjacent buildings and the volume of water being transported will eventually cave in the banks of the river itself in time and be excellerated each time heavy rains happen in the area.

Not to disagree with you but here is some history. The house was built along the creek in 1865 and added on to in 1881. I have been here since 1979 not once has the creek got close to the house.

@@BuddBieber oh wow! I really thought you were running some insanely powerful pump to get that effect. I was looking to add a backyard pond/creek/water feature and just looking at different videos for ideas and was like "YES! Finally someone who knows to go big and get that massive effect!" LoL looks great though. Definitely something to aspire to. 👍

That's a darn good question that I have no answer for. It would be pretty tough to navigate it as most of the time it barely has any water in it.
