    I have the same problem with my 07 GP rear window. Took it to an auto glass shop yesterday to find the problem and get an estimate to fix it. They told me it was the regulator and would cost $380 to fix it. They said the part was 200. I said thanks but no thanks. I will look on line for the part and you tube for instruction and fix it myself. Found the part to be about 1/4 the price and this video was very good and informative. I will be ordering the part today and doing it myself. Thank you so much. Will be saving over 300 bucks.

    you can put the nut on the top,,, and the "brass" bolt on the left side,,, then bring them through larger hole and drop down, then it holds it better while installing third bolt . (it's easier to start them into regulator before sliding into door cavity,, just be sure to leave them loose.

    Great video. I have to fully understand why things fail in order to be able to prevent it from happening again. After I got the unit out I fumbled around with the 2 blue plastic pieces that were sprung and noticed the only thing keeping them in was a small tensioner strip. You can cut that out, drill a tiny hole in the blue plastic piece, press it back in and use a small screw to prevent it from popping back out. You have to be careful not to pinch the guide wire that runs through it though. Seems to be a much better fix and only cost about 10 cents compared to 100.00 for a new unit

I only use my car to travel from work and back which is only a 25 minute commute and I'm the only one riding in it so I don't want to spend the extra money to purchase a new part if I can fix the old one. I thought about zip tying the springs to the motor assembly just to get the window back up and unplug the motor?

    Thank you, once again, for this video. I found a seller on eBay who had a combo deal on new left/right regulator/motor assemblies for just over $68 shipped. Received them within 3 days, and I just finished swapping both sides out in less than 45 minutes total. The biggest problem I had was the right rear window wouldn't lower using the switch, so I had to kind of force it down manually, before I could reach the second bolt that secures the window (the one that doesn't have access hole when all the way up). I'm happy to have both rear windows fully functioning once again, and don't have to tape them anymore to keep them from sliding down all the time. :D The only fluid I lost was plenty of sweat, due to this OK heat, but no blood drawn...so I'm calling it a WIN!

    NOTE: When removing the switch from the panel, it's a lot easier to just unscrew the housing and the whole thing comes right out. I used a T20 torx head screw driver. When I started to try to pry the hidden back clip off that plastic connector, all I could think of was, "if I break this thing, I'm going to be really sorry." Then I noticed the screws. Easy and fast. Changed out my daughter's throttle body today and saw packing tape on the back window with a 1/4" opening. Called her, she said her son was playing with the switch when she was rolling it up, and heard a pop. She told me she'd already ordered the part, so I'm also doing this job today. Thanks for the tutorial and heads up on the tools I need to get out there and fix this. Nice job, and a big help.

I got the window to align by setting it in at the bottom but not tightening either side, then raising it and lining up the right hand bolt with the hole, tightening that so it would hold, then dropping it back down and tightening back and forth until both sides were good and tight. • @NexusAuto

    @NexusAuto

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@stephengladney hmm that is a tricky one. Unfortunately, that leads me to believe it could be something with the driver side switch. Both switches run on the same fuse, so it is works from the back door, but not the front, there may be an issue with the front switch It could be something simple, like the plug that goes into the front switch is not pushed in all the way, a bit of corrosion on the switch, or a severed wire somewhere. Hard to say for sure. Normally, in this scenario, I get my multimeter out and start testing. I think as a next step, if you haven't done it already, I would say to take off the driver side door panel and check to make sure all wires are plugged in correctly, and that no wires under there are damaged, torn, or pinched.

    I found a quicker temp fix when the rear drivers side window messed up in December 2020. I took the door panel off, took out the bolts for the regulator and disconnected the wiring and cut a piece of 1 X 2 long enough to lock the glass in place, shoved the glass up and stuffed it in between the glass and the bottom of the door and put the door panel back on. It was just to dang cold to try to replace the regulator in the middle of December. Only took about 1/2 an hour. Then when the nice weather returned this year (August 2022 only took about 18 months to decide it was time to finish the work) I pulled everything apart and replaced the regulator without having to disconnect everything. As per, I returned here to double check what had to be done and completed the job. Your videos are very informative and right to the point. That's why I always return here to find out how to do repairs on my 05 grand prix. Man I hate repairing these newer cars. Nothing is simple any more. My next job is replacing the L/F wheel bearing. Finally tracked down the problem. 3 repair shops couldn't give me a definitive answer to the problem. Either a tire or a bearing. I already knew that but either way it was going to be an expensive repair. I replaced the tire with a known good one from a friends car. Problem persisted. Guess it wasn't the tire. LOL Part is outrageously priced but I guess if I want to continue driving the car I gots to do what I gots to do. LOL I'll be looking for a video here if you have one to double check that I do the job efficiently (that's just a fancy term for doing the job right LMAO). Just to save time, do you have one on changing the L/F bearing?? Anyway, appreciate the videos. Keep doing what you do good. Take care and be safe.

    Nice work on the temp fix! I wouldn't have thought of that, but works so well! Glad to hear this video helped out too! That's crazy that 3 shops couldn't figure out the wheel/bearing issue. Sometimes it's just finding the simple solutions. Even just swapping tires front-to-back or across the axle can get the job done. At least you got it figured out! Unfortunately, I didn't get to make a video on the wheel bearings at this point. I would like to make one in the future, but nothing now. Great to hear from you again!

    @@NexusAuto No problem. I'm pretty sure I can do it. Can't be much different from others I've done in the past.... I hope. LOL What I am wondering is if it could have been going since I got the car. There's been a screeching in the L/F wheel since I got the car. It only happens when I'm backing up. It sounds a lot like the backer plate is rubbing. I asked a guy at a shop I had it into to have tires changed right after I got it to check it, He said the backer plate was bent. I went under and looked for myself. It's not bent. It's no where near the rotor or the rim. I raised the car and blocked it up and put it in reverse and no noise. Kinda has me wondering now. I know it wasn't the brakes. I put them on new when I got the car and thoroughly checked them before letting the car down. I'm going to go over it with a fine tooth comb when I do the bearing to see if maybe there is any other problem. I thank you for your response. It's good to hear from you as well. @@missychevious3137 I'm sure you can. It's pretty much the 'standard' lol. From what you're describing, I would say it's a good bet it's the bearing. I may actually use that. I like that a lot! 😂. Thanks again, take care and stay safe too! Hope the bearing goes well!

    @@NexusAuto I took the car for a drive today. The screech is only there when in reverse backing up but never when I'm driving forward. It's always the same. To me it still sounds like something to do with the backer plate. I'm going to pull it to be sure. I replaced the pads, rotors and calipers all the way around when I got the car. The problem is the ....it's almost like a howl. It starts out low and as the speed increases it increases in intensity. Not so much volume but intensity. It's not a grinding or growl like you would expect with a bad bearing. That's what's so baffling about it. I've had tires make the same noise in the past. I changed them and no more howl. That's why I figured it was a tire in the beginning. I did a nasty today. I took it in and had a new tire put on. Took it for a test drive and same howl was present. Took it back they replaced the tire. Owner went with me to test again and the howl was still there. He had the new tire pulled and mine put back on and refunded my money. I was just going to leave the new tire on but they didn't feel that was right. I tried talking to them but they were adamant about putting my tire back on and refunding the cost of the tire. They didn't feel I should be replacing something that didn't need replacing. He had no idea what could be causing the noise either and he's also a licensed mechanic. Guess who I'll be dealing with from now on. Anyway, I'm going to go ahead and order the new hub and see what happens. Not much else I can do. Need to figure this out before something major happens. Kinda weird. You take care and stay safe.

    @@missychevious3137 hmmm, that's interesting. I've seen this happen I'm a few vehicles...check your brake pads and rotors for any damage or heat marks. I've seen a situation where either the brake pad may have jammed inside the bracket, and is stuck touching the rotor. The one I've seen more, especially in older cars, is if the rubber brake hose collapsed inside. If you look at the hose outside, it looks fine..but the hose inside the outer rubber hose could collapse. What could happen if the hose closes is that the brake fluid can't get back up to the master cylinder, and effectively seizes the piston against the pad, so it's always rubbing on the rotor. Especially since you changed the pads, rotors and calipers, there is a possibility the hose is no good. Definitely worth taking a look at. I do respect what the shop did with removing the tire and putting back on the old one. I know too many who would happily take the money. That's a good thing to see a shop being honest. Hope that helps a bit. If the brakes look all good, then you're back to square one lol. Hopefully you find out what's happening Thanks and same to you...stay safe!
